Unnecessarily DIRTY Disney Moments!

Post by Jackoleen »

Well, anyway, Mom sat there, explaining every "adult" concept to me, because she didn't think that I understood anything, and then, during the scene wherein Judge Doom is frisking Jessica in the factory (and I'm NOT talking about the toon bear trap, because that happened, too), Eddie Valiant PULLED DOWN THE TOP OF JESSICA'S DRESS, AND SAID SOMETHING LIKE "NICE BOOBIES!"

A lot of those live-action movies in the 90's aimed at young teens and trying to riff on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure meets Beavis & Butthead meets Carrot Top / Pauly Shore. You know the types. Those movies had some questionable jokes and humor in them. Not always gross-out of course, but stuff that didn't exactly feel Disney-esque. And wasn't very smart either. I think some of the Tim Allen and Jonathan Taylor Thomas movies bordered on that line as well. Maybe George of the Jungle and Inspector Gadget as well. Oh, and... Hocus Pocus.

Dear Dr Frankenollie,

I am NOT making that story up! I swear on a stack of Mike N' Ike boxes that the incident that I mentioned really happened during the movie!

There was actually ANOTHER little detail that was later omitted. When MY family saw the movie during 1988, Jessica said "Hey, Buster! Quit messin' with my man!" right before she sang the last note of "Why Don't Ya' Do Right".

Jackoleen, it is very possible you are right, but please also listen to me.

I think what happened is when you saw the film, the way your mind interpreted it was different, perhaps you and your whole family thought he said boobies because, well, any dialogue that is said any time can be heard wrong, you know, and the dialogue was obviously meant to reference her boobies but you didn't hear it as "booby trap" you heard it as "boobies".

People can remember things wrong from any age and any time. You don't have to be on any drug or anything that would effect your mind, and you don't have to be very young. It can happen any time. When I was younger, sometimes when I saw a film the second time, it was a little different from how I had remembered it.

Hey Jackoleen,

I saw Roger Rabbit in theaters when it was first released. Needless to say, I don't recall the pushing down of the dress...
I would say it is almost impossible that what you saw actually happened. For that to be true, they not only would have had to shoot it, they would also have had to animate it and process it. It would also have meant that disney distributed two different cuts of the film...which is VERY unlikely.

It's not that you are crazy or were on drugs. But when we are kids, we imagine things and then we remember them as if they were real. I myself had an incident of remembering something that I could have sworn was real (I'm not gonna go into details), and years later, after my parents told me it was not possible, I verified myself that indeed it was impossible. And in my head, it was a very clear memory.

It happens.

I think it was just wishful thinking.

If Eddie pulled down Jessica's dress exposing her boobs I think I'd remember!

ive not seen roger rabbit, so cant comment on that. i dont recall any adult type jokes in any disney movie, but dreamworks is packed with them. saw an episode of the penguins of madagascar today, and one of them was carrying around a unicorn toy. one of the others referred to it as a "horny pony/horse" totally uncalled for, even if it is descriptively true.

Jackoleen:

I own a 35mm print of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and plan on cranking it up at a local theater to watch it one more time. The "Vista Collection" of the movie on DVD does not have that scene, however it does have the "booby trap" scene and dialogue.

Along with everyone else, I really think that you might have thought it was what you saw, and with all the years that have gone by, you could have two different movies confused, which is what I truly believe has happened.

I had something similar happen when I saw "Song of the South" as a child, and I had crossed a scene from that film with a scene with the little black lamb in "So Dear To My Heart", and I argued that I was right to a point that I ended up with my parents taking me to see a child psychologist. It's nothing to be ashamed of, and I am sure that in your case that is what has happened.

I will let you know tomorrow after I run my 35 mm print later tonight after the theater has run its last shows.

But Jackoleen, you knew what boobs looked like, and your parents would have reacted that way to the scene with the line "booby trap" which was a reference to boobs. That's all you need to come up with such a memory. Really it is. Why don't you ask your parents if they actually saw him take down the top of her dress or that they saw actual boobs? And even then, they could have imagined it just as you did, because it can happen at any age, when movies and scenes go by so fast.

Snow White. It lacked a naughty sequence bettween Snow White and the Queen.
Der Fuehrer's Face is the greatest Donald Duck cartoon ever made.

The scene that sticks out to me for George of the Jungle was the scene where George comes out of the shower and walks into Ursula's living room and we see Ursula and her friend give goggly eyes toward his "area" and after Ursula covers him up and takes him away, her friend says "no wonder they call him king of the jungle".

Jackoleen:

Seven adults, including myself, went to the theater, as promised, and we watched my print of "Roger Rabbitt" and could not find any such scene in the film. However, the "booby trap" line is there in all its glory.

A movie company would not send a "special" print out to a movie theater and then replace it a week, or even a day or two later. That would be impossible given the time it takes to "build" a movie up once it gets to the projection room.

Like others here, I will stand by my opinion that you have some childhood dream mixed with reality, and refuse to admit that you could have been mistaken.

I am from a small town in California (El Centro), and my Mom and Dad owned one of the three movie theaters in town.

I lived in a small town in California, Woodland, when "Roger Rabbitt" made its premier, and, in fact, I was the projectionist in the theater that showed this very good movie for almost a month. So, I do believe, and will stand by my opinion, that what we have here is a childhood "wish memory" tied to an scene that could have been more explicit, but wasn't and that memory getting exaggerated. Think about it real hard, and I am sure you will come up with the same conclusion.

Why would you be the only person who remembers a scene like this in a movie, be it a Walt Disney or any other major studio release??

Yea, Jackoleen, if your parents don't remember the parts you're talking about, then that's a really good indication you only thought you saw or heard those parts. Your parents reacted to the booby trap line, but that's it.
