Do they even know what their own releases are? Wow, this actually reminds me in some odd way of one of their own shorts - "Pigs is Pigs."jckdsnyfan wrote:And when I asked about the Generation line I got mostly blank looks like they had no idea what I was talking about.
Very disappointing. I think in the Home Entertainment market, Disney is slipping and it's almost like they don't care. You know, it kind of feels like they actually did a better job in this area back in the VHS era. The DVD era started out strong, but has grown weaker. And now Blu Ray is kind of a joke. It should be WAY better then it is. More extras, more titles available, good reasons for fans to abandon DVD and go Blu. Tech geeks will always switch to the newest format, but the rest of the general public is not as easy as that. There has to be good reasons and lots of them to switch.jckdsnyfan wrote:
Completely absent was anything on not only Generations, but also the World Cinema line, Disney Family Movies (the PPV channel), or Disney On-Line Movies (which they had been touting 2 years ago at the last Expo). That side of the booth was really just set up to promote and display the packaging for Pirates 4, Cars 2, Dumbo, Lion King (including the big 8 disc set that didn’t impress me unless this was just a mock up and not the actual final packaging) and even Spooky Buddies. Not even a word about Winnie The Pooh. So overall, like Disney’s current trend in home video itself, the Pavilion was nice presentation but lacking content.
Mean while, Warner is kicking butt in the Home Entertainment market. Quality extras, lots of titles to pick from and the Warner Archive, I can't stop praising those guys! WB has their faults to be sure, but compared to Disney, they are awesome!
