Your (Disney) animation dream project

Post by Alcazam »

Ok, I don't know if there's a recent thread related to this on the forums, but I just wanted to start a discussion about your Disney dream project? It could of course be a non-Disney effort as well

I would like to suggest that the discussion would be limited to animation projects (hand-drawn/stop-motion/cgi etc) or live action/animation hybrids

Fallout

my own dreams (game worlds)

1. I enjoy a good video game now and then, but one of the universes that has really stuck with me is the Fallout universe. The whole idea of a post-apocalyptic world and fallout vaults hiding dark experiments, the 50s propaganda posters etc - I just love how detailed the universe is. Probably a bit too dark for the Disney name, but what about Touchstone or something? I would just love to see that bleak universe come to live with the help of the talent of the Disney animators.

2. Discword/Discworld Noir

3. Monkey Island

This should probably be in the "Disney Discussion" section.

And rather than waste a post, I guess I would say-

The Wild Swans- My favorite fairy tale. Ever.

The Velveteen Rabbit- I had never considered this one before until I heard it was once considered for production, and I have to say, I'd love to see it.

A Broadway musical- I've been thinking about it lately, but usually a major reason for why actors originally cast in B'way roles don't get the part in the film is because they've aged too much. However, this could be adverted in animation. The drawback would be that you would lose those great live-action performances like dancing, though...

I am also going to include Live Action w/my list:
Hansel and Gretel- This will be a Live Action feature similar to the "horror" movies of the 80's such as The Watcher in the Woods and Something Wicked this Way Comes.
Snow White and Rose Red- Also Live Action with the Bear character and the Troll being Animated.
The Emperor's New Clothes: I do not know why, but I always wanted to see Disney make a cartoon short for this Fairy Tale. The reason why it is going to be a short is because there is not too much story for Disney to make a full feature. Even a Fantasia-style cartoon would be good for this tale.
Rip Van Winkle: I also would not mind if Disney makes an Animated feature of this story.
Non-Fairy Tale Stories I would not mind to see Disney adapt:
* The Raven
* Anne Of Green Gables (a TV movie was made for it, but an actual movie would be nice).
* A Midsummer Night's Dream
* Five Little Peppers and How they Grew (of course, Disney should change the title of this movie to "The Pepper Family" because the original title might weird people out!)

The Velveteen Rabbit ~ I've always loved this story and felt it would be perfect for Disney animation.

The Nightingale ~ I recall seeing years ago that Disney attempted to make a version of this story with Mickey Mouse, and it's a story I've loved since I was little.

Or you know, make a full movie and call it Emperor's New Groove ;)

Personally I would have these two:

- Aida: Fully animated movie.
- The Snow Queen - Fully animated movie again.

Both would be musicals, no 3D, hand-drawn but with cgi elements added in.

Wow, I forgot that I actually wished upon a star for a Discworld adaptation. Since then it's been announced and cancelled.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner, if they had the balls.

But seriously, I think Rime would make for a really cool handdrawn film. I don't know if Disney would do it full justice in terms of narrative, but they have the talent to pull it off.

i would do a musical that's a bit darker than what they normally do.

for live action, i've always wanted to do an Assassin's Creed movie.

Why can't they do an experimental film that is more minimalist in its art style. Just a film that focus on story, everyday life and characters. A simpler art style could take less resources. Think Out neighbors the Yamadas? Minimalism can be very challenging, so it won't be totally cost-free, but it could potentially be very liberating.
