The Land Before Time Sequels

Post by Neal »

Hey, I was curious if anyone knows if the land before time sequels were filmed in full frame (1:33:1) or else that is just how they're presented on the DVD?

I've become a stickler for only buying films in the OAR - and even though the Land Before Time sequels are only mediocre, they're dirt cheap so I'm considering them.

I found a stack of all 13 LBT films and 1-6 (I believe) were in full screen and 7-13 were widescreen

Defintly enjoyed film 1-5, 6-13 were overkill to me. If they re-release LBT I'll purchase 1-5

Well I know the DVD IS 1:33:1 - I'm just curious if this was how they were created or if they were cropped for the DVD...

The first few were made originally for a 1:33.1 aspect ratio. There were made for VHS and full screen tv's, which at the time they were made, was what most people had. I've only ever seen part two of the squeals, and never on DVD. Hope that helps.

Hm, well they are dirt cheap in bargain bins and I may just get them for collector's sake - I bet they won't come to Blu-ray any time soon, not that bad animation needs to be in crisper quality.

I've never the seen the 1st film in a long time til June/july, and I thought it was very well done, my best friend's grandma always purchased the sequel, think they made it up to 6 too.

Pretty sure we might see a blu release of the 1st 3 LBT films, considering Jurassic Park is bein re-released.

A Blu release for the original is a much better possibility then any of the DTV sequels. Being as there were just three Don Bluth films released on Blu not too long ago, I'd say it is a very good chance not too down the road here. I hope so, I'm building my Don Bluth collection!
