Excited for Bolt, that was the first animated movie I saw in digital 3D so that'll be great, but what's with the lack of Up and Toy Story trilogy? It's getting really frustrating that the year Pixar makes a truly below average film is the year 3D Blu-ray starts making real progress.
Micheal Eisner was counting his money and he got DIZZNEY!

DVD isn't even dead yet and they are already trying to replace Blu Ray. *rolls eyes*

Out side of tech geeks, I don't see this doing well till they at least find a way to have 3D without the glasses.

Not all movies can be made or converted into 3D, so I wouldn't say 3D is an attempt to replace blu-ray. 3D is only available in the blu-ray format, so technically its the same thing. You can access a 2D version of a movie on any 3D disc. And you're right, DVD is not dead, its on life support :P

Not on Disney 3D Blu-rays (they have a separate disc for 2D). I've tried to play one (Tangled) in my 2D Blu-ray player and it wouldn't work. Although I've tried one from Sony (Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs) and it gave me an option to play 2D when it started since I don't have a 3DTV.

The only thing I don't like is that Disney seems to be releasing the bonus discs only in the 3D combo packs later this year. Although I'm sure with coupons, etc... on release week they want be much more. Still I'll have a bunch of 3D discs I may never use if they continue this...

Hmmmmm - I don't care about upgrading BOLT - but Meet the Robinsons in 3D could be cool.

But this is a Blu-Ray disc...I don't think 3D without glasses is feasible to be honest. You would probably have to sit at certain angles and at certain distances for it to be effective so if you had a room of people it just wouldn't work.

From what I've seen of Nintendo's 3DS, glasses free 3D isn't ready yet. It works, but you have to be at a certain angle to get the effect, etc... I noticed playing if I moved the 3DS my eyes had to readjust/focus. I would assume a TV screen like this would be the same.

I think Passive Glasses may help 3D a little, but its going to remain a small market for awhile (maybe forever) at home. Vizio/LG/etc... have made a few TVs that use this technology. You can even use the 3D glasses from the theater on these sets and it works fine.
