yoda_four wrote:Even though I think we've all discussed this enough to death.... "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" should be included on ALL the Disney films after Walt's death. The movies from his lifetime should say "Walt Disney's ------". Something like Tarzan definitely should not have that title included on the cover, whereas like was done with Sleeping Beauty, Alice, Fantasia, Snow White, etc. it should be present.
Oh I never thought of it that way and I totally agree.

I still preffer the "Walt Disney Classics" label used in international releases. But now that they are labelling crap like "The Jungle Book 2" a classic, I don't know what to think anymore.

They did the same thing for "Piglet"

That's just for people to buy more obviously, they are not added to the official classics list... I guess they are labeling all movies showed in theatres as classics in international countries...

As far as I know, JB2 is the only "non-Classic" to be labelled a classic on the case in the UK. So I'm inclined to think it's just a sloppy mistake made by BVHEUK, who make sloppy mistakes about their products all the time.

France does label it's films "classique" but labels the classics as "grande classique", so there is still a distinction. They do however number all animated films - so Treasure Planet for example is numbered 68. In the UK JB2 is not numbered at all - so no classic numbering will be altered.

Personally, I couldn't give a fig about the self-imposed classic labeling of Disney films. So there.

We don't mind change, it's just that we want the changed version to be accompanied by the original... and we want consistancy. If those two conditions are met, I welcome changes. For example, I love the Disney Mania CDs!

Paul, I completely agree about the Walt Disney Pictures Present labeling.

Netty, your ragging on BVHEUK cracks me up. The French numbering thing that you mentioned is very cool. Why is Treasure Planet #68, though? Shouldn't it be #42?

No, because they count everything as a number: for example

Return to Never Land is 66
A Goofy Movie is 40
Toy Story is 42 etc.

Well, it's apparently official... "Proud of Your Boy" will be integrated into the film.

This sucks. :x I guess even when a song doesn't make that much sense against the overall plot, it still somehow will worm its way in. :( I just hope they have the option for the original film (will it even be the original film?) a little easier to find on the menus than the TLK PE. e_e
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Eh, are we sure about that? DVD File's been wrong quite a bit lately. They're $30 off on the SRP for the Aladdin Gift Set, and were 3 weeks and an aspect ratio off on Darby O'Gill. Also, according to them, Mulan was making its DVD debut and would also be available in a gift set, and all of the catalogue titles for the rest of the year are going to be in their original aspect ratios.

Do we know if Mulan won't have a collector's gift set? I'm sure we will get the option for the new and the original versions of the film. AS for haeing the true original, I highly doubt it, as Disney's already revised some of the film for it's Imax release including......wait for it......MORE STARS! That's like saying Lucas was only adding more people/filler to the DVD release of THX-1138!

as well as Disney's other 2-disc October issue, Mulan, both of which specify "audio commentaries, deleted scenes and theatrical trailers" amongst their fully loaded packages!
I could live with that :D

Well so far Beauty and the Beast "Human Again and The Lion King "Morning Report" were ok for me to be added to the film.
They probably added at the bottom of the Aladdin DVD saying featuring an all-new song. :D

Wow, I really hope that this is another case on mistaken information on their part. I can't imagine that Disney has been saying all along that it would be only a special feature, and then they went back into the film and stuck it in there again this late in the game... doesn't make much sense.

to me, the press release (as reproduced by Luke as the first post of this thread) has always been vague about the status of the all-new song. Its just something about the wording and placement. It has such emphasis over every other extra. Plus there's other things too. I think Amazon's statement "(not integrated into the film)" is just their own reading of the original press release.

After all, is an all-new song that big a selling point? Does it deserve the animation finishing to present it as a seperate scene? Disney are happy enough to show storyboards on other deleted scenes and songs (such as the If I Never Knew You sequence on the Pocahontas LD and international DVDs). Why single it out so much?

As for not fitting into the film, of course it can! Show some imagination people - you're Disney fans! Any brief framing sequence can put the song into context - flashback, dream, whatever. It doesn't take much. Maybe even the words could be slightly changed?

I guess we'll only find out for sure when the disc is released or first reviewed.

It's an Alan Menken song, and if it works well with the movie, why not? I mean, there will still be the option to watch the theatrical version
