I, for one, would like to see the language cleaned up a bit around here. It has nothing to do with being Disney-related nor the ages of the people browsing the forum. It's all about how to interact politely with a group of people.

THE LANGUAGE THING: I know that a lot of kids do accidentally hear bad words all the time. I know bad words don't physically hurt. But as you know, the words you use, in real life or on this forum, are used to have effect and they can hurt. It is about morality. Saying mean words or coarse language (something that even symbolizes the life-sucks-cynicism only adults should ever know) is not for kids. Let's not make kids grow up too fast or not care if they hear language that is meant to be bad or hurtful. The kids who usually hear these words so young are the kids that have teen parents that let their kids also play Grand Theft Auto or play with their guns too. In other words, kids hearng the language so young is a sign of societal downfall. No one, kids or adult, should have to hear or use such words in good human society. And yes, kids do come on here looking for Disney stuff in the forums without becoming members.

Tim, all your facebook things are excellent, and they get more hilarious and hilarious as they go! From that, I suppose my favroite prince may just be the trouble-causing Snow White's! Does he have a name?

Just because you point it out doesn't make it true. That's the mentality you have in every aspect on this board.

Wherever kids go on the Internet there is bound to be some kind of language or graphic image or something. Its the parents responsibility to know what their kids are looking at.

Plus you're whole statement about how kids grow up to play with guns and have teenage pregnancy because they hear cuss words is an extreme over exaggeration.

Human society never was nor is good.. so that point is also invalid.

No. And no I was saying that because the young kids that usually hear curse words are the ones hearing them in the same families that let them play with guns, it shows that letting kids hear curse words is part of bad behavior. It shows that we are acting just like those parents, the same kind who let their kids have guns. We don't care if kids are around violent, offensive or bad things. We aren't actually showing anyone guns but it is the same mentality.

Well I'm sorry your mother called you any of those names, she shouldn't have done that, I'm sure you never deserved that, and I would like to chew her out for being so cruel to you. But that still doesn't mean you can be mean to other people on a forum even if it's a lot less mean than anything your mom ever did. The point is to take something back if it hurts another, even if you didn't think it was so bad. Unless you have some big ol beliefs that you shouldn't take it back, but that is up to you, and I don't think you really wanted to use such words if they hurt.

I'm obviously not a moderator around here, but come on guys . . .

I won't pretend I don't swear; I could make a sailor blush with the best of them. I do feel there should be a sense of decorum on a personal level though. There is a time and place for everything, but regardless of whether or not this is a Disney-based site, and regardless of the perceived ages of those visiting here, those aren't really the issues. What does matter are the rules given to all that register here and whether or they're being followed and/or enforced.

If anyone truly is uncomfortable or hurt by the language, and especially if one feels the given rules are being violated, then by all means, contact a moderator or admin with your concerns. It's kinda pointless to bring up all these excuses of how we need to "protect the children" or equate language with guns (?!), or to even argue against all that by either shrugging off personal responsibility or by laughing about the internet clearly having "no rules." Those running the site dictate what is and is not acceptable to post here, end of story. That's why there's a TOS to read through as part of the registration.

Unfortunately, the enforcement of the rules has been sporadic as of late; it not only adds to the confusion, it creates a free-for-all. It would be nice to see some consistency; if I remember correctly even Renata has stated she's not really certain of the rules anymore (I tried to search for the exact post but the search function isn't working properly, so forgive me if I'm wrong) . . . anyway, I'm kinda sick of it. I know mods can't catch everything, but it hardly seems fair for particular members to get public warnings about using the F word when every other member gets away with tossing it around seemingly for the sake of it with ever increasing frequency.

But what's really getting to me is the constant bickering of playing the victim over outright silly issues (i.e. one member clearly upset and taking it to a personal level with another member for simply stating that a Pixar trailer feels like classic Disney, of all things). Once again, if anyone is truly hurt over things that cannot be resolved here, contact someone that has authority within the site so the issues can be resolved. Asking members to take back things that were said or to apologize when they feel they've done no wrong isn't resolving anything, in fact it's only causing more problems.

I'd like to apologise for my flippant attitude, which simply wasn't on. I was wrong to be suggesting guidelines and shrugging off responsibilty when I'm not in charge here. If the moderators decide that swearing isn't acceptable, then none of us other users can say "well the word C%¬t isn't traumatic to thirteen year olds" If the moderators have decided that swearing doesn't fly on here, then it doesn't fly on here, and Duster, that doesn't mean that it can be compared to guns

I'm glad to see this drama being resolved
