DISNEY GENERATIONS DVD: NEW LINE

"Song of the South": Not sure what they would/could edit that would make any difference to its critics.

They could burn in a subtitle placing the year of the story clearly post-war post-slavery -- during reconstruction, though. That might help the context for new viewers.

I'm worried they'll edit out the "the tar baby scene" I mean this is Disney Marketing of the 21st century we're talking about...

This is not to say I'm not going to do my part to see it happen, but I honestly wonder if "Song of the South" will ever see the light of day so long as Iger is calling the shots.

I also don't see them releasing it this way. This single title is separate from like everything else. Either it gets a traditional release, or it don't get released at all. I really see this title as an all-or-nothing kind of thing. Again, I could be off, but based on my research, "Gargoyles" has a better shot at being released fully on DVD then "Song of the South" does.

To me, it's a bit of a dillema. I'm very happy to have these titles on physical dvds, however, the cost to me would typically be less if I could purchase them through the Disney Movie Club (because of discounts when ordering sevreral titles). I wonder if the DMC Exclusives will continue, and how the two lines will coexist. Does anyone else think the new Generation titles will also appear as the next wave of DMC Exclusives? Offering them through both the Club and Amazon seems like a way Disney could reach a broader audience and keep their costs low by creating the discs on demand.

That's actually a great question. I have no idea, but it is something I wonder a bout. I also wonder if Disney will do ANY advertising for the "Generations Collection," of if internet geeks will be the only ones that know about it? Again, at the Open Vault Disney campaign, that is one thing we want to make sure, that people know about this series and that it doesn't just did off with no one really knowing about it.

They should be offering the DMC Exclusives directly on Amazon as well, not just through resellers.

At this point I'm just grateful Walt's missing gems might become available however they will offer them. I just hope they are decent masters ( I also worry about preservation of the original source material).

One does have to be circumspect about their level of commitment to making this work based on the very marginal titles (except for Amy) they chose to open with.

Besides seeing all the partially released Disney Afternoon cartoons finished, I'd like to see the Aladdin tv series released.

i just got all 3 titles today in mail.....omg there awesome. cover art is great on front and back. the disc itself is light-scribed in full color, very professional!! there are no bonus features however and no scene selections to jump to. over all all 3 films are great. picture quality i feel is very good as well. just 1 more thing to note, on back cover at bottom it has 2010 dvd release, well as we all no its 2011. i believe these titles were meant to be released last year and got postponed til now. im so looking forward to more generations titles soon

How does one find these titles on Amazon? I can only locate them through the links provided in a previous post. Searching the titles on Amazon (either by searching the entire site or by limiting my search to movies) results in nothing. I even tried searching "Disney Generations" and got nothing.

Also, how would one know if future titles are released, other than finding a post here from someone else who already found out somehow? Is there an official updated site for this new line?

go to disneydvd.com go to upcomming releases click on it. then on side you will see disney generations click on it and all 3 titles come up. disney will add other titles in future. now for ordering through amazon.com. go to the search box and key in DISNEYS AMY, DISNEY GOLDRUSH, DISNEY STUDENT EXCHANGE. MAKE SURE YOU ALSO SCROLL DOWN THE TAB BAR FOR DVD/MOVIES AND THEN SEARCH.

Same as classic Disney movie or music downloads on Amazon or iTunes - - there is no notice, no gathered menu, often no search results, no way to find them at all -- except by word of mouth, internet message board posts or a constant searching of individual titles.
