The first night of the "Battle" rounds is over and we have our first four finalists. It was a great show, and there was quite a few hard decisions for the coaches to make, because they are the ones who make the decision, after the performances, who they should cut.

Not surprised Blake got rid of Tyler; kind of expected that considering he didn't like him once he turned around last week. Why else pair him up with a country guy and give them a country song he wouldn't possibly know, and then dump him even after he followed his advice. Ugh.
Agreed with the other choices though.

We have two more weeks of the "Battle" rounds of "The Voice" before we get the live shows, in which the viewing audiences will get their chance to vote for their favorite.
Each coach - Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Andrew Levine, and Christine Aguilera - have two finalists on their teams with two more to be determined in the coming weeks.
I like how this show is done, and think that the Finals are going to be very interesting. Up for grabs is $100,000 and a recording contract.

Last night's "Battles" were the final ones before the "Live" show start next week. And next week's show will be a two-hour episode beginning one hour earlier, right after "America's Got Talent".
I think all four teams have their strengths and their weaknesses. All four of the coaches, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Christina Aguilera have their work cut out for them.
Now the business of picking "The Voice" for 2011 gets down to the business of the American public voting. This should be a fabulous next few weeks as the contestants get knocked off one by one.
I haven't seen how the judging will go. Will each team lose one member each week? That means we may only have four weeks to go with the show, which I think has been really well set up.
What do you think?

As much as Blake Shelton irritates me, I enjoyed everyone on his team. Jared Blake's "Use Somebody" was probably the best performance of the night. I liked Dia Frampton, too, though the huge elephant in the room was the fact that they basically stole Kris Allen's rendition of the song. Still, her voice gave it a different sound, but I wish they'd have acknowledged Allen rather than pretending Dia had come up with it by herself. And it's only too bad Idol's Scotty McCreery couldn't sing as well as Patrick Thomas, then that show wouldn't have been such a let down this year.
I like all the people on Christina's team, but the first two performers weren't that great. Well, the one woman who did the Melissa Etheridge song was good, but they should've picked a song where she didn't sound exactly like the original. Lily Elise and Frenchie Davis were did the best on here team.
I'm not sure how the voting is supposed to work--do two members from each team go next week? If so, Frenchie and Lily should advance for Christina, and I'd pick Jared Blake and Dia Frampton for Blake.

NOTE: To Disney's Divinity:
Patrick Thomas is a totally different type of country singer than Scotty McCreery. Personally I like Scotty a lot better and he could have really done a great job on the same song.
That said, Patrick Thomas should be 'saved' next week along with Dia Frampton. Those two were the strongest of the night.
I don't remember the girl's name who opened the show as a member of Christina's team, but I think that she will probably be safe also.
The audience voting saves ONE, and the coaches save ONE and next week we will find out who those four lucky people will be. And next week we get to see Adam and Cee Lo's teams perform. Should be interesting, but I think that Cee Lo's team will be stronger.
Glad that they announced that season two auditions will be starting soon. Tells me that this show is gaining a good audience. Should give "Idol" some good competition.

Tonight we get the results of the voting for last week's team members from Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton. The voting will save one member and the coach gets to save another, narrowing the 16 down to four.
Then it onward and upward for Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green's teams as the perform before the live audience tonight for our votes. Remember you can vote by phone, text, and on the internet, you have ten votes per system used.
I really hope that Adam Levine's group does well tonight. Remembering the four he has, they are pretty weak against the likes of Cee Ld's group. We will see.
It all starts at 9 pm Eastern (8 Central) on NBC. Right after "America's Got Talent".

Not surprised to see Dia make it on Blake's team. I was surprised by the choice of Xenia though. She has the weakest stage presence of just about everyone on the show, and her voice isn't that unique.
I'm so glad Christina picked Frenchie. I was kind of shocked that Beverly won America's vote, considering she was a Melissa Etheridge clone even though she did good. Either way, two good choices
Honestly, tonight sucked. The only person worth mention was Javier Colon and his rendition of McLachlan's "Angel," which is bizarre because I don't even remember him from the earlier rounds. I agree with Christina, that it's a really difficult song to do considering McLachlan's voice is so beautiful and one-of-a-kind, but he managed to do it. I hope he and Devon make it, but I have a feeling either America or Adam will pick Casey Weston.
I didn't like anyone on Cee Lo's team, so I don't care who makes it as long as it isn't the Thompson sisters. Ugh.

Wow!! This is really scary!!! I agree with everything Disney Divinity said about last night's show. It was a fairly decent show, but I don't remember all of Cee Lo's acts and remember all of Adam Levine's.
I truly hope that Nakia doesn't make it through. We'll see, next week the results and the semi-finals.

I enjoyed last night. I was kind of surprised how weak Cee Lo's team was compared to Adam's. I enjoyed Vicci Martinez on Cee Lo's team, and his group performance, while nothing special, was very entertaining.
I could see Javier Colon winning this thing. I'm not sure on Blake picking Xenia. That could back fire for his team.

They've changed things around this week on "The Voice". Semi-finals are Tuesday night and the results show will be on Wednesday night just before the two-hour "America's Got Talent" audition show.
Next week we will have the finals on Tuesday night, with the Results on Wednesday night and the crowning of "The Voice" for 2011.
I really enjoyed the format of this show, and am looking forward to next season to see who the coaches will be.

The coaches for next season will be the same as this year. Also, the show will begin in January next year, before American Idol starts. It'll be extended this time, now that's it performed well in the ratings. In comparison, there'll be 6 audition shows to this year's 2.
NBC will also be airing Smash (the musical show with Katharine McPhee, Angelica Houston, and Debra Messing) afterwards next spring.
It's like they're deliberately trying to re-create the American Idol/Glee setup on Fox.

I don't regularly watch the show or anything, but I thought I'd tell you guys that my dad went to elementary school with Beverly. I don't think he knew her well then, but he said that when he had a major eye surgery in high school, she was working at the hospital and he got to know her pretty well. He thought she had had a rough childhood, but that when he knew her at the hospital she was very nice and wise beyond her years.

Good to know it will be extended. This season was short. Will the format change next year with a extended season?Disney's Divinity wrote:The coaches for next season will be the same as this year. I think the format's the same: the judges have their backs turned in the auditions, then battle rounds, then the final rounds like they are now. Only difference being, like I said, drawn out longer. I'm not sure if they'll have results shows though...
The interesting thing is I had read that before the show started, they had been in talks with Alicia Keys and John Mayer for judges. I'm glad Mayer didn't pan out, but I would've liked Keys. Also, Christina is making $225,000 per hour of the show, while the other judges are making $75,000 per hour.
Which was a smart move though, because I initially tuned in because of her.
Also, Christina is having a single with Adam and one with Cee Lo. Not with Blake though.
I don't know if they'll perform the songs on the show, but I wouldn't doubt it.

I thought tonight was a great night on The Voice. I've really grown to be a fan of Vicci Martinez. I hope she wins this thing. A lot of strong performances tonight.
I didn't completely catch what was going on at the end with the judges and their envelopes. Had some other stuff going on in the house while the show was on, so I missed it. Are those factored in with the votes tomorrow night?

Last night's semi-finals show was a real hoot!!!
Dia Frampton rocked the stage with her version of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" while Vicci Marinez brought the house down with a Florence and the Machine song. Javier Colon justified his being in the semi-finals with a Coldplay song.
I am not familiar with some of the songs used in the show this week, but those three were great.
Tonight's results show will happen right after Pres. Obama's short report to the Nation. It all starts at 8 pm Easter (7 Central) followed by a two-hour "America's Got Talent".
