It seems pretty unique to me because whereas the other Marvel Heroes origins stories received updates for the big screen, they stayed true to the comic in that this one's a WWII period film. From someone who knows nothing of the mythology of the character, I'll be getting tickets to see it.

This wasn't the first Captain America movie....however the new one coming to theaters is obviously 10x infinity better than the version Nostalgia Critic reviewed

Ok some of you may not be aware but the Captain America movie coming out this July that stars Chris Evans is actually not the first Captain America movie to be released. You see back in the early 90's there were a slew of really cheesy low-budget Marvel based movies made that never actually made it to theaters. One was the Fantastic Four and the other was Captain America. These movies or at least bootlegs of them did make brief appearances on VHS years ago and now it seems like the Captain America one is going to get an official DVD release. I won't lie to you and say this is a well made movie, cause it wasn't, but it's still kind of fun to watch in a comic book cheesy way, and definitely you will see how far Marvel movies have come since those early days. I've noticed that the search can be really touchy if it isn't filled in just right which may be why you didn't find it

Captain America' keeps full name in most of world

Captain America will keep its patriotic full title in most of the world when the superhero adventure hits the big-screen.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios gave distributors around the world the option of shortening the title of "Captain America: The First Avenger" to simply "The First Avenger," out of concern about anti-American sentiment.
But the only countries that took them up on it were Russia, Ukraine and South Korea.

In other territories, the movie will go out with the full title, a sign that the brand value of the Marvel Comics hero trumps any potential anti-U.S. feelings in some parts of the world.

Movie titles often are changed in foreign countries for cultural reasons or because the original names don't translate well. In French-speaking countries, "The Hangover" and its sequel were titled "Very Bad Trip."

Starring Chris Evans as the patriotic super-soldier, "Captain America" opens in U.S. theaters July 22.

I saw it this afternoon and was not disapointed. Favorite part was the song montage for sure, but the whole thing was enjoyable from the various action sequences, to the World's Fair scene to Stan Lee's cameo, I had a good time. Between this and The Rocketeer the director clearly has a great skill at doing period comic book films.

It's also really strange to see Alan Menken and Richard Sherman's names on the end credits of a Marvel movie. But I'll get used to that stuff.

I'm looking forward to hearing a Randy Newman song in The Avengers.

But, in all seriousness, I also enjoyed Captain America and it's my favourite superhero flick of the summer. Simply put, a highly enjoyable gung-ho summer action film in the great tradition of Indiana Jones.

Captain America - The First AVenger is everything that Green Lantern and X-Men First Class tried to be.

With a great back-story and great special effects, this movie doesn't slow down for anyone or anything. All the actors are perfect for the roles they play and the brief cameos of the Avenger members, make this one heck of a film to see on the big screen.

I will see this at least twice more before it leaves the big screen. It really leaves you breathless with all the action and the great story line.

I agree, it was great. Plus, I loved the slightly more light hearted, optimistic feel that current comic book films seem to lack these days. Steve Rogers is the kind of guy you back and feel good for doing so. He really does represent the best of America and what each of us can be if we tried harder. Modern cinema needed this film!

It was a pretty good film. If I had to rate the superhero films this year: X-Men: First Class; Thor; Captain America; Green Lantern. The Green Lantern was the only downright terrible film of the four and I think Thor/Capt America were of similar quality.

Marvel's had a remarkable summer...all three of its films this season have been noticeably better than last year's Iron Man 2 fiasco.

Ugh. To each their own, but I pretty much hated it and I'm a comic book nerd. Thankfully, I have enjoyed this summer's Marvel releases quite a bit. Two impressive origin films and the best X-Men film yet. Next summer looks even better.
