.....seriously? Reminds me of that crappy Little Princess School video from Brinquedo. In fall 2012, Disney Junior will premiere Sofia the First, a new full length animated special and series pilot set in the storybook world of the classic Disney Princess characters. It introduces Sofia, a little girl with a commoner's background until her mom marries the King and suddenly she is royalty. With the help of the three familiar fairies in charge of the Royal Training Academy — Flora, Fauna and Merryweather of Disney's classic "Sleeping Beauty" and, on occasion, classic Disney Princess characters including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White — Sofia learns that looking like a princess isn't all that hard but behaving like one must come from the heart.

Tangled short - great!
Disney Princess series with a little girl as the main character? - Yuk! Reminds me of the Winnie the Pooh series with that girl and the dog. If Disney makes a series where the Disney characters from different movies interact, why can't they focus on the Disney characters, and why do they need to make it so glittering, sparkly and Disney Princess franchise-y?

Sounds like animated version of Kilala Princess.

On the Sofia programme...
Oh dear. No. Just no. The one thing that the Princess line never boobed up was the fact that they all came from separate stories and universes. To my knowledge, there have never been any cross-over stories, and they don't normally seem to interact with one another on merchandise. I roll my eyes wholeheartedly.
The Tangled special sounds quite cute, though.

The press release doesn't say but it's probably going to be Flash animated, flat and stylized, in the vein of "Jake and the Neverland Pirates".Super Aurora wrote:Is this series going be 2-D or CGI?
Btw, how come this is the first time everyone has heard about this show? It was announced in March:

Source: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-rap ... ace-16502/Disney will officially welcome Rapunzel as the 10th Disney Princess character at a high profile, star-studded celebration, to take place in front of a global audience on October 2, 2011. Little princesses from across the globe will watch Rapunzel be welcomed into the Disney Princess royal court by Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana.
In a world first, Kensington Palace, London, UK, was chosen by Disney as the perfect location for this magical welcoming ceremony of a Disney Princess, as it has been the home of many real life princesses over the centuries.
“Once Rapunzel becomes an official member of the Disney Princess court, she will be celebrated and recognized as such across Disney, and will be included in all Disney Princess products featuring multiple characters, in addition to her own merchandise line. Plus, across all Disney Parks, Rapunzel will for the first time wear her royal tiara, stolen from the kingdom by Flynn Rider in the Tangled.” said Mary Beech, vice president of girls franchise development and marketing at Disney Consumer Products. “With London knowing a thing or two about bringing royal celebrations to a worldwide audience, it seemed only fitting for the city to become the stage for the celebration to welcome Rapunzel into our own Disney Princess royal court. We are inviting girls from across the globe to welcome each Disney Princess character to the Palace and celebrate with Rapunzel on her special day.”
Independent charity Historic Royal Palaces has joined with Disney to help stage the event, in a collaboration that aims to encourage children all over the world to explore the stories behind the real kings, queens, princes and princesses alongside Disney’s. “Our aim is to help everyone explore the stories of how monarchs and other royals have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built,” said Ruth Gill, Head of Interpretation at Historic Royal Palaces. “Kensington Palace has always been a place of spectacle, beauty and majesty, and home to many inspirational real-life Princesses. We are therefore delighted to celebrate our relationship with Disney by hosting this magical event that will welcome Rapunzel as the 10th member of the Disney Princess royal court.”
All ten Disney Princess characters will take part in the royal celebration and will be joined by VIPs, celebrities and little princesses from across the globe in festivities including a procession through Hyde Park, party activities and a welcoming ceremony.
Each Disney Princess character has a unique story that empowers girls to imagine and live their very own fairy tales. Rapunzel is a modern heroine — she may have lived her entire life locked inside a hidden tower but Rapunzel is no damsel in distress. The girl with 70 feet of glowing, magical hair is an energetic, inquisitive young lady who fills her days with art, books and imagination. She is full of curiosity about the outside world and can’t help but feel her true destiny lies outside of the lonely tower walls.
Kensington Palace has been a residence of the British Royal Family since the 17th century and is famed for its associations with Princesses. Princess Victoria (later Queen Victoria, Britain’s longest reigning monarch) was born at Kensington Palace on 24th May 1819 and was christened the following month in the Cupola Room. Her love for the palace ensured the renovations of the State Apartments in 1897 which were opened to the public on Queen Victoria’s 80th birthday. Today, parts of Kensington Palace continue to serve as residences for members of the Royal Family. The best known resident in recent years was Diana, Princess of Wales, who occupied apartments in the north-west part of the palace from 1981-1997.

Wow Her Disney Princess Design has improved loads!
I cannot believe that the ceremony will be in England (It's really close to wear I live :3, welsh pride ) I'm so glad Rapunzel will wear her tiara on top of her golden hair
I really think Disney are pulling out all the stops for this event ... It seems ten time more magical than when Tiana was welcomed
In a way i sort of wanted Rapunzel to have a ceromoney at disney world but i guess this is better
She's going to be an official disney princess!! SUCK ON THAT WIKIPEDIA
YAY! I can't wait

When Tiana, the first black Disney princess came, Disney was like, "Ok, African Americans! Here's your princess." And that's it!
But, then Rapunzel comes in...."OMG! OMG! OMG! RAPUNZEL IS A PRINCESS! LET'S HAVE A TOUR AROUND THE WORLD FOR RAPUNZEL! LET'S HAVE A TV SPECIAL!"
Not to start a fight but....a African American Princess is a BIGGER DEAL than a famous fairytale Princess.

I think the fuss being made has more to do with the success of Tangled than the impact of the individual characters. I personally think both Princess and the Frog and Tangled were really excellent films but ultimately Tangled was the more successful, more successful than I think many people had anticipated, and Disney aren't going to pass up the opportunity to make sure that that success continues into spin-offs such as this and the upcoming Tangled short.
We're not going to Guam, are we?

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,
I'm actually a fan of Kim Kardashian, and I liked The Royal Wedding, but this "Tangled" wedding celebration seems to be a slight pose, as though it's the start of a "Keeping Up with The Tangledashians" series, or a special airing of "The Royal Wedding 2". Are we going to have to watch the birth of Flynn Jr., or follow Rapunzel as she spies on her husband Flynn, who has been spotted in town with a stereotypically hot, German barmaid named Heidi?
The Disney Company has been producing too many casual, multi-princess movies lately, and even though the princesses haven't interacted with each other yet, they have all been sounding like Valley Girls.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi I'm new here and I think it's great for Rapunzel to finally be added to the lineup. I thought for a moment she wasn't going to because she was a CGI character. I don't mind them making a big deal about it, I mean I doubt it's anything to do with Tiana being African American, maybe just because Tangled was such a big success and a huge acomplishment in animation.

Beware the passionate debates that are often had here.
now, for Rapunzel to "finally" be added to the lineup(seems like she's been added since last winter) is, I think, an okay thing I frankly dont care much about. Disney's celebrating it too much because the film is succesful.
