Post by poohgirl »

I just recently started to collect Disney DVD's. Anybody got any advice on "must have" that I should have in my collection? Thanks for the help and advice! :)

Copying and updating a post from another recent thread.

There's a complete list of <a href="http://shop.ildb.org/searchresults.asp? ... </a>Disney Special Edition DVDs</a> here on the Worldwide Product Search / Shop.

Just going by extras, these are some I'd recommend:

<b>Disney Feature Animation</b>
<u>Multi-Disc Sets</u>
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... emz">Alice in Wonderland: Masterpiece Edition</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/alice.html">Review</a>)
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... mz">Beauty and the Beast: Platinum Edition</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/beauty.htm">Review</a>) (<b>Out of Print</b>)
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... z">Brother Bear</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/brotherbe ... >Review</a>)

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ">Fantasia & Fantasia 2000: The Fantasia Anthology</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/fantasia.html">Review</a>) (<b>Recently Out of Print</b>)
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ">Sleeping Beauty: Special Edition</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/sleepingb ... >Review</a>) (<b>Recently Out of Print</b>)
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... vemz">Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Platinum Edition</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/snowwhite.html">Review</a>) (<b>Out of Print</b>)
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... mz">Tarzan: Collector's Edition</a> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/tarzan.html">Review</a>) (<b>Out of Print</b>)

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... emz">Mulan: Special Edition</a> (coming October 26)

I would suggest getting what you enjoy. Whether it be the movie or the bonus features or both.

Hey Luke,

Just for future reference, you should probably add Atlantis:CE to the multi-disc animated sets.

It's not meant to be all-encompassing of multi-disc sets, and "Atlantis" isn't a movie I'd recommend. :)

I started with the Platinums for my DVD collection. They're a great set and in the end will make a fine collection! I agree with Ludwig Von Drake. If you're not too interested in bonus feature just collect what you like. With any collection, it is only really worth something if it is filled with the things you love. For example, if Disney decides to release a Platinum edition of "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", judging by your name, I would guess it would be the most important and treasured part of your collection. I would buy it just to complete my collection of Platinum Editions, but I don't like Pooh, no offense, so it has no real personal value to me.
