I have to say, at first glance that sequel covers are ok.
Mind you, just...

cutting of simba's jaw
rafiki looks alien in that last cover lgm

Wonder if these will change for the european market
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

OH MY GOSH I bet it's just going to be a bunch of discs stacked on top of each other like the TRON limited edition set. How can something so expensive be so cheap???

So it's official: Disney in America cant design cover art to save their lives. Everyone else can.

Well that's maddening.

Why can't we have that box style?!
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

The French cover is gorgeous, and though I would prefer a horizontal title, here is an example where the vertical title almost works - there is plenty of room for it. The American cover is a claustrophobic mess.

Also, why do the French always seem to get these beautiful, classy, "adult" covers? I'm so jealous.

Because they take Disney more serious. Here in the USA they think only little kids like Disney films so they make such pathetic covers... Kinda insulting.

These covers are all so damn UGLY.

Every single character is off-model and they feel like clip-art slapped on backgrounds. And don't even get me started on the vertical titles.

The dvd marketing department consists of people who are still halfway learning how to use photoshop. It's a disgrace. Disney is paying thousands of dollars to let animators like Andreas Deja and Glen Keane (who actually ANIMATED these characters) sit around the studio to do NOTHING, because there is nothing to animate.

At least let them design a nice dvd cover. It will take them like 5 minutes and it will look 500.000 times better. Everybody wins.

For a big company like Disney, this is beyond embarrassing.

It's the clip-art they used for "The Lion King 1 1/2" when it first debuted on DVD.

This should have been the Trilogy Set for the USA instead of the huge box set and probably all the discs are going to be stack on each other. For this cover only remove those characters from the sides then the cover art would look great.

I agree Disney should put Deja or Keane to design the cover art.

Looks like DVD is potentially dead at the house of mouse. Lion King's new DVD only being a one disc tells me that it will feature almost 0 bonus material in contrast to the one disc blu-ray which sucks big time. Glad I finally made the cross over to the new medium cause I need my bonus material and I especially need Lion King in a more user friendly capacity. The last DVD was a joke as it had no structure to where the bonus material was placed and so accessing what you wanted was like navigating through a mind field. lol.

And almost no one cept us will care, but honestly what did you expect? If Disney no longer ports over old extras onto the DVDs, and even blu-ray gets a very limited amount of new material, the new DVD's gonna go bust.
