what do you think the contents of the mickey mouse club treasures set will be?
do you think there is a chance that the jiminy cricket shorts will be included?

It appears the Mickey Mouse Club set will be the FIRST WEEK of the Mickey Mouse Club - 5 one-hour shows. I don't know the contents of those first shows - I've never seen even one of the original one-hour shows.

It is possible that some Jiminy Cricket shorts will be included as extras, or even appeared as part of those first five shows. But it is very unlikely ALL the Jiminy Cricket shorts would be included, since there were 6 I'm No Fool shorts and 8 You And Your... shorts. That doesn't include the "Curiosity" and "Encyclopedia" segments.

It's actually a shame if the tin has the first week only of MMC. They had hardly hit their stride!

Anything they do in a tin will be almost impossible. What are they going to do? Give us 30s cartoons in BW that were originally in color? 3 chapters of one of the serials? It's not going to work unless they just include edited highlights in the box set. Seriously!

As for Jiminy...well again, were his safety shorts were that fascinating that we need to see them in a box set? Don't all of you KNOW to look 2 ways before crossing the street by now? I think everyone's in love with that "I'm No Fool" song, but everyone kind of hates the cartoons that go with them.

I think that they will be in Color like they were originally filmed in.

It's having them that's the point. For purposes of comprehensive collections and historical perspective/reference.

No, they will use color footage where available, like they did with the Disneyland TV episodes, and One Hour In Wonderland. Which by the way, included a segment from Song Of the South that had obviously been restored. It's nice to know they have actually done work on that one.

I love the song and the cartoons that go with them.

I think it sounds like a good idea to release the first 5 episodes. Since they are in serial format, it would force them to eventually release them all.

Yea but "comprehensive collections" would be useless unless it's a complete season

(which of course is not going to happen)

Making the assumption that the info that the contents of the Mickey Mouse Club will be the first week (5 one-hour shows), here's what the contents will be.

The following is from Bill Cotter's book "The Wonderful World Of Disney Television" and from his website billcotter.com that offers a CD-ROM for all the info that had to left out of the book to keep the book within the page limits.

Sooty was an ill-tempered puppet from England. I've never seen any of the Sooty segments.

The "What I Want To Be" serial was about a Mickey Mouse Club newsreel reporter (Alvy Moore) who picks two 10-year olds and takes them to the headquarters of Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri, where they learn how TWA trains its flight crews. These five episodes are part of a total of 10 episodes.

Of course, there is expected to be some extras on the Treasures set.

Just wait for the Press-Release! It will be here probablly with in a few months. This is the only Treasure Set that I think will be worth buying so I will be getting this one probablly.

If you've never seen Sooty, you haven't lived.

Mind you, that is the "new" Sooty above, not the one that would have been on the episodes mentioned.

I was wrong - I have seen Sooty...just not the 1950s version. I lived in Scotland for 6 years (2 3-year U.S. Navy tours at a communications base in RAF Edzell 1980-1983 and 1988-1991) and watched some of the British TV there.

Geez, Wally Boag is going to be on it. (He would be, like 18 or so.) I assume he died a while ago, but does anyone know?

Wally was born in 1920 and will be 84 years old in September.

So Wally was 35 when he appeared on the early Mickey Mouse Club.

Wally has been retired for years, but I believe he is still alive. I have not heard anything that indicates that he is dead.

I wouldn't bet on that. Disney is in business to make money, and though a single tin set with 5 episodes might sell OK, I doubt there's a market for every single MMC episode to justify the cost of putting it out. (How many episodes are there? Hundreds? Thousands including the newer MMC shows?)

I am sorry but I wasn't to big of a fan for the contents of the WDT Sets I might be getting the one though that includes Victory Through Air Power for My Dad. My Dad was in WWII and for his birthday 5 years ago I bought him a copy of the 1st Printing Book of Victory Through Air Power and He loved the book so I will probablly buy him that Treasure Set since He Loved the book so much. But I personally am very excited for the Mickey Mouse Club Set I used to watch it every night on Disney Channel because when the Disney Channel Still Did Vault Disney it was first Zorro then Mickey Mouse Club then the Disney Classic Movie.
