@ Sotiris: Thanks for sharing the video! Can't have too much Mandy Moore. ;)
KubrickFan wrote:[Gothel] even seems to care for Rapunzel, which I think says more than Frollo's relationship with Quasimodo.
I disagree. My only beef with the movie, is the lack of care Gothel shows for Rapunzel. I would've liked to see a little more internal conflict over her manipulation of the girl. Yet, from the moment she enters the movie, everything she does and says is about herself: what she want, what she needs etc. It's never about what Rapunzel wants or needs. She's constantly being mean to the girl or manipulating her. I'm curious to hear which parts you thought showed Gotherl cared for Rapunzel.

^Yeah. It's obvious the only reason she raised Rapunzel was for the magic in her hair. Plus, she only took her in to gain Rapunzel's trust and love.

Could someone please extract the image below to its full hi-res version? It would make a nice wallpaper:

In case anyone is interested, some blogs are reporting that Rapunzel will officially join the 'Disney Princess' line in September. However, these blogs are not providing any sources, so I would take this with a grain of salt.

Surely this is illegal? I've even seen it in the top 40 charts in some supermarkets so it must be selling quite well. I'm surprised Disney hasn't noticed...

Her eyes are SO big - looks kind of anime-ish among the other princesses and weird.

And what happened to Jasmine? (I guess I see her in the one book, but thought she might be included in the 'wallpaper' image.)

I hope they finally dumped Pocahontas + Mulan now that they have a more solid lineup.

Oh, God! Some of the newer princess art is just terrible. Just look at Tiana! :headshake:

Eeeek, yeah. She looks so weird in the later pictures. Before/right after TPATF came up, she actually looks like herself. Now, she looks pretty, but uggggh! But, I love Belle in the calendar. She looks so pretty with the rose.

1) OMG! I know! We see the princesses with little eyes, then we see Rapunzel and BAM! She really stands out in a bad way. I really thought they would do something about it, guess not. :( And what's up with her in the wallpaper? She's like, "OMG! IT'S MY SHOULDER! "

2) Yeah, that's starting to worry/bug me. I was and AM still worried about new Disney princesses because they replace each other. For example, I have the Snow White Blu-Ray. I took the "Which Princess are you?" quiz....Tiana is in it, but Jasmine is not! It's like they'll start to remove Princesses (I doubt it) to give the newer ones more attention. I'm worried what will happened to the Princesses when Princess Merdita (from the upcoming Pixar movie, Brave) will join the crew.

3) As for Pochantas and Mulan, I only want them to stay because....

a) Pochantas is my great-great-great-great.....grandmother/aunt from my mom's side! That's right, I'm related to a Disney character! :D
b) I want diversity with the Disney Princess lineup, which I personally think why these 2 are in it. Just add a Latino princess, then we have princesses in most skin colors! :)

Well, Pocahontas is as much of a princess as any. She is the daughter of the chief. Just because the western titles of "King" or "Princess" are not used, doesn't mean that she is any less "royal" than the others.

Yeah, and not to mention, that they called her "Princess Pocahontas" in the sequel.

The merchandising art is always terrible. Rapunzel looks good in both 2D and 3D, but not in shiny airbrushed plastic that adorns so many retail items.

Not quite. Most of the time, the clip art pretty much based on the character models and model sheets. For example, one if the clip art images of Rapunzel is lifted directly from one of Glen Keane's sketches. Some of these recent images, though, are just look so bad.

I wish they would use Rapunzel's brown hair. And is it just me, or does Aurora look really weird? (Well, weirder than the other clip art)

Rapunzel with brown hair is too much of a spoiler for Disney to ever want to use it.

Yeah, I saw these images last night. Horrendous. Poor Tiana.

These kinds of glitterized clipart must be preparing children to be part of the "Real Housewives" era, where everyone looks like trash and wears costume jewelry.

Well, I have said in the past I accept Pocahontas as a princess... but Mulan is not and should never be included.
