http://www.davelandweb.com/hauntedmansion/40th.htmlThe stage also had a photo of Leota with Claude Coats, the other very influencial Imagineer who worked on The Haunted Mansion and was a huge mentor to Tony Baxter.Jason shared a story told to him by Rolly Crump about Marc Davis & small world. Apparently during one of the initial test ride-throughs, Marc told Walt that he noticed Luxembourg was missing in the line-up of countries. Walt acknowledged Marc's comment but things continued. After about the third time that Marc brought it up, Walt lifted the one eyebrow and told Marc that nobody gave a s&*t about Luxembourg. Apologies to all my readers from Luxembourg.

Thanks!PrincePhillipFan wrote:It was a story Imagineer Jason Surrell told at the Haunted Mansion 40th Anniervsary event.

I don't understand why Walt didn't want to add Luxembourg. Was it more expensive? Was it too late in the process for changes, or was it due to lack of space? I guess we'll never know.

There is some stuff on .deviantart. not as bad but suggestive. Even I have hormones.
The king in cinderella wanted his son to marry so he could have grandchildren. Guess he got disappointed.

Why? That just completely ruins the original characters. I hated seeing Ariel with her child, it stripped her of the entire personality she had in the first movie.disneyprincess11 wrote:I hope they eventually do it. Considering returning characters in Disney sequels tend to not have the personalities they had in the originals, I doubt Ariel would have had her personality from the original movie in the sequel if she didn't have a child.Scarred4life wrote:Why? That takes 'suggestive' a few steps further. Thanks to SuperAurora for bringing this destruction of innocent childhood characters to my attention.

Okay, maybe I should have said as adults. I just want to remember my favourite characters at the age they were in the original films, I don't want to see them get older and change personalities. (Which, like ajmrowland said, happens when you grow older)Sky Syndrome wrote:Considering returning characters in Disney sequels tend to not have the personalities they had in the originals, I doubt Ariel would have had her personality from the original movie in the sequel if she didn't have a child.

Roy was more or less the guardian of Disney tradition at the time and it was basically a "Walt wouldn't do this" thing. Aside from that, many of the animators who were working with Roy on the film also apparently hated the idea. The book emphasises that the film was very personal for Roy as it was carrying through on Walt's idea to continuously add segments to Fantasia and so the final decisions were his and it does clearly say that anything suggesting that the Disney characters had had sex was unacceptable in Roy's eyes.PrincePhillipFan wrote:Despite my mixed feelings about this idea (it would have been cute, but at the same time be knowingly too commercial), the explanation seems a bit silly. As already stated, Prince Charming's father and King Hubert were really excited and pressing hard for them to have children, so why would it be any different?

I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be their "kids". I think those are more just mini-me's. Why would a mini Prince Charming kiss a mini Cinderella on her hand if she was his "sister"? And the Mad Hatter and Alice had a kid together? Yeah, not intended to be their kids, just kid admirers looking up and wanting to be like their favorite characters.disneyprincess11 wrote:I'm just curious to see what they look like and if they're a girl or a boy.Scarred4life wrote: Why? Yeah, I just noticed that when I saw Peter and Hercules. =/ I really thought I saw Melody up there when I saw it back in 2005.LySs wrote:I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be their "kids". Are you sure it was Roy Disney? In Waking Sleeping Beauty, he's pretty blunt about how thinking about a dead guy's decisions is the wrong way to make a movie or run a company.DisneyAnimation88 wrote: Roy was more or less the guardian of Disney tradition at the time and it was basically a "Walt wouldn't do this" thing.

^^^ It doesn't explicitly say what I said but it does say that Roy felt that suggesting that the characters had had sex was innapropriate for a Disney film and it's characters. I think that this film was a special case though; Fantasia was Walt's own personal project and Roy was sort of taking responsibility for continuing his uncle's vision for the film so I can imagine he had very particular feelings on what to put in the film. Whereas on other films Roy would perhaps not have refused Eisner so blatantly, Fantasia is a special film for the Disney family so I can understand his actions.

^ ^ ^ The only person who could have explained the reasoning behind this is Roy Disney himself, I'm just saying what was written in this particular book, that he thought it inappropriate for it to be suggested that characters like Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora and Ariel had had sex. This isn't my own opinion so I can't explain the reasons for it or how it doesn't make sense.
