Well Disney's motto is " all your dreams come true" well I am wondering, is there any chance at all that one of my favorite dinsye movies ( The Black Cauldron) will be released as a Masterpiece or Special edition DVD? after reading the reviews , it seems that the gold collections dont offer much- but I want to know if thats all thats coming, and also what about Sword in the Stone, Hunchback, any chance of those? Please tell me there is , because the "Gold" collections just arent enough.
also this is off topic but I didnt want to make another thread, are the Tarzan, Atlantis, and New Groove DVD cases like the special, platinum, and masterpiece dvd covers, or are they just regular cases with nicer artwork?
Is there a chance?

Sure there's a chance, but I would venture to guess that there are a lot more titles that would get the "treatment" before that one would. It's all about demand and I'm pretty sure that the demand for a SE of The Black Cauldron would not approach that of many other possible SE titles. Of the three you mentioned I could see Hunchback certaily getting the nof before the others.
As for Tarzan, Atlantis and The Emperor's New Groove, are you talking about the 2-Disc Collector's Editions?

They already have a ton of extras on the Hunchback laserdisc box set, so I would imagine that it would be very easy for them to slap together the same stuff for the DVD release. They used the exact same material from the laserdisc boxes of Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, Toy Story, Nightmare Before Christmas, Tron and others, which were available years before the DVD special editions. They will probably use the same laserdisc materials for the upcoming Cinderella and Pocahontas 2 DVD sets.MisterMalificent wrote:Well Disney's motto is " all your dreams come true" well I am wondering, is there any chance at all that one of my favorite dinsye movies ( The Black Cauldron) will be released as a Masterpiece or Special edition DVD? after reading the reviews , it seems that the gold collections dont offer much- but I want to know if thats all thats coming, and also what about Sword in the Stone, Hunchback, any chance of those? Hercules and Hunchback are very likely to get special treatment within the next year or two, imo. The others have little to no chance.

I would assume Hunchback and Hercules to receive 2-dsic treatments soon enough. Also, th rest of the Disney Animated Classics from Walt's era that are not PEs: Dumbo, Aristocats, maybe Sword in Stone. NExt up would probably be either th 80's: Fox and Hound, Black Cauldron, Rescuers; or the anthologies from the 40's: Music Mine, Three Caballeros.
As for the covers for the CEs, they are the double thick cases like SNow White or the Treasures and that's about it. Nothing really special to them. They got different covers than the standard 1 disc releases. BUt, the discs themselves are packed full of cool stuff. I hope Tarzan get rereleased soon....
