I'll probably just get some black construction paper and tape it to my TV to make my own 2.35:1 ratio.

Does anyone know if the 2-Disc DVD is going to be exclusive to any stores like Walmart, or will it be available everywhere?

From what I can see, it's going to be available everywhere. I've checked on Best Buy and Walmart's websites, and the Double DVD Pack is listed on both.

Cool. I'm probably going to go for this set. Want to keep my Narnia set consistent. Same goes for Harry Potter next week. I got all the 2-disc editions for HP and will get the Walmart 2-Disc exclusive. I just hope they keep the 2-disc format for DH Part 2.

You know it will be a box with two cases in it or a side by side two pack right? That's what Fox did last year with the two disc DVD of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Just Myself wrote:I saw the film in Digital 3D in theaters, and it was presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The decision to release the DVD and Blu-ray in open matte 1.78:1 aspect ratio is rather curious, at least to me. Part of me is just relieved that it's not being cropped, and we are getting a fuller image, but the other part of me thinks the original OAR was the director's artistic intention, so it's disappointing we won't get that on home video. As for the film itself, I'm still on the fence about a purchase. On its own merits, it was a good fantasy film , but in my opinion, it was the weakest of the Narnia series. I'll probably wait until the price drops below $15 and pick up the Blu-ray Combo Pack.
Well, there are shots that are cropped as well.

I confess to being a bit disappointed about The Magician's Nephew being the next adaptation, but more than anything, I'm just thrilled that the film series is potentially moving forward. I always felt it would, but then I also had my fears. As usual, Kelvin's comments on this move are spot-on, so just allow me to "ditto" everything he wrote.

I just hope that they do go back and make The Silver Chair and The Horse and His Boy before moving on to The Last Battle. As so many have other said, The Silver Chair is a stand-out in the series and I think we're all anxious to see it made (along with the others for a total of 7 :D).

I'd only be disappointed if they'd bail on the last three books and didn't complete the series. I wanna see all 7 on the big screen.

I got my copy today and watched everything! I was debating over the Blu Ray or the 2 disc DVD. I got the Blu Ray, but that mostly was becuase my wife like the format better.

First thought, I hate the flimsy case. It's three layers of cardboard! Once you get to the last layer, the Blu Ray is on a sleeve to the left, the DVD to the right and the digital copy on a flap in the center, being held up by what looks like molded glue. Actually makes me happy I took up re-packaging DVD/ Blu Ray discs, as this one needs it bad! In the center is a paper about how to use the digital copy an a post card book. The picture by the way look great.

I put the disc in, jumped over the trailers (hence I have no idea what they were, and don't care) and went right to the film. Yes, it is a different aspect ratio then the theaters, but personally I was ok with that. It looked just as good and while watching, did not even notice.

Then I watched the extras. I was annoyed (as I am with Blu Ray period) on how they were set up. They are scattered over a number of menus and the majority of them are a minute or so. Very few of them felt like they were worth it. But one or two I really enjoyed. I was sad to not see ANY music videos. Mine of course is the US version, so i don't know if other versions have music videos, but I really think it was just the last step to Fox messing up big time on how they handled the title song, "There's a Place for Us." First not including it on the CD, then making it a download only title, now not including the video or anything about it on the DVD/ Blu Ray save for the end of the film itself. It's a shame, but oh well, but a whole different topic.

Anyway, I'd say the extras were only so/ so for the most part, did not like the original case, but past that, I was very happy with my purchase.

Packaging ranks with the Back To The Future blu ray trilogy as among the worst I've seen since going from dvd to blu ray. Sold off my digital copy & put the other 2 discs in a standard blu ray double disc package which I'll keep next to the empty original package. WHY does everyone want to reinvent the fucking wheel????? What the hell is wrong with a blu ray packing with actual hubs to attach your discs to? Both my dvd & blu ray had some of that glu gunk on the disc & I was afraid they wouldn't play but luckily both did.

The actual blu ray audio/video was spectacular & the features while spread out as was pointed out were pretty good. I sure wish a 4th Narnia movie would be made. I know this one barely cleared $100 million & I haven't heard if there was a chance of another one but I am hoping.
15 gallon 7 pint blood donor as of 1-4-11. Done donating. Apparently having Cancer makes you kind of ineligible to donate.

I agree. Tha packaging is crap. Maybe it was Fox's way of trying to mimic the 4-discer that came out for Wardrobe. Apparently Magician's Nephew is next on the list to be made. Not sure why they didn't go with Silver Chair before Will Poulter get's too old. Thought he did a great job in this movie as the stuck-up brat. :) Here's hoping the whole series gets made into movies.

I don't have it, but from what I've seen the packaging is terrible. Not sure I'd rank it up there with the first Back to the Future Blu-ray packaging, but its bad and the discs will get scratched.

Walmart also has a single disc Blu-ray edition in a normal Blu-ray case. Pretty cool, but its a barebone release, so the combo pack is the best deal if you want special features.

That is my worry. I hear if "Magician's Nephiew" does in fact get made (as of now it is not officially green lit), it would come out in 2014! My gosh, even 2013 is a while from now. If they made "Silver Chair" after, would Poulter be too old? I'm not as worried about the kids being too old for "Last Battle" should it be made, so long as it doesn't take forever, as the older versions of the kids could work well enough for that film. But for "Silver Chair," I worry we could end up with a really old Eustace or have the character re-cast.

I hope they don't do the Magician's Nephew next either :/ They need to do the Silver Chair while Will Poulter is still young. And i think it is best if they stick to completing the original set of novels, which follow on from each other, and then do the others three (The Magician's Nephew, The Horse and His Boy, and The Last Battle) I hope all the books are made into movies tho, so as long as we get them all I'm happy I guess... haha

Ya, I think they should keep making them in the order they were written, but so long as they all get made, such is life.

I always wondered why they felt the urge to renumber the Narnia books. Sure, it puts them in chronological order, but that makes the most famous entry (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe). If I had read the Magician's Nephew first, I doubt I would have loved them as much as I did when I was younger. Makes no sense to me.

I hear what you are saying and can see your point, but for me and my logical mind, I'm happy they re-numbered them. I like things in the order that they happened.

Is there a a good site were i can buy a good, proper version of a combo pack? I like the version on Amazon.com, the sort of book version, but i don't know how things are arranged with the boarding costs? can anybody help me?

You want the Blu Ray I'm taking it? And you live in Holland? What kind of help do you need? What kind of region are you looking for?

well im looking for a nice example of the blu-ray/dvd combo pack. I really liked the US version(the sort of book, which can be foulded open), but any other decent version with a nice slip could do :P
I did some research on the boarding cost and i believe that i wouldn't have to pay them if i only would buy one dvd from amazon(as long as its beneath 22 euro's)
well of course europe has an other regio, b for blu-ray, so don't know if the american blu-ray can be played in european players( a friend told me about the possibility of ripping the region code, so that would make it easier :))

thanks for helping me milojthatch, i appreciate that very much :)
