Post by Christopher_TCUIH »

I don't know if this is already a topic since I can't seem to get the hang of the search button but have any of you seen that video "Rebecca Black - Friday"? I have to say this is the funniest shyt I have seen in a while! I'll post the link when I'm not doing this via cell phone or just go to youtube and watch it! It's lame but hilarious (poor little girl) anyone's thoughts on it?

A couple of problems here:

1. I can barely read your writing. That pink is WAY too bright against this white-blue background.

2. For a second, I thought you were spamming. If you're having problems using Search or posting a regular YouTube link on your cellphone- why don't you just wait to do these things when you get to a real computer?

3. Double-posting. You should have edited the first post and deleted the second. Or just in general, if you start a post and no one replies to it- don't reply until you can edit. Again, if you can't do these on your cellphone, maybe you could wait 'til you got to a proper computer.

As for "Friday," the song completely removed from its' recording history, I think it's harmless enough. No one should attack her for what is clearly the fault of her parents and a not-giving-a-crap music industry. With acts like the Jonas Brothers and Justin Beiber out there (kids famous for being kids or for having a certain look- not for being killer singers / musicians), this sort of thing was inevitable- she practically phoned in the whole process of performing and recording this song, which she had nothing to do with creatively. Therefore, no one should give her any credit for having talent either. It doesn't much matter to me if she goes on TV now and performs and can really sing. She's already made a mark for herself with this mistake and needs to go away and regroup. Come back with real material that she worked on. She felt she had to respond right away, and even without the amazing negativity against her- what she did was cheap and meaningless. I didn't realize becoming a pop star was like a big giveaway- just be where they're handing out recording sessions and free songs. No one can defend that.

Everyone else is attacking her for wanting to do like Nickelodeon goofy kids' songs, but I don't mind. As long as she has something to do with making it.

Really? I can see the colors just fine :( Good thing to know for next time! Sorry about the hideous post, I just got this phone so I am still learning the tricks! I think it's just a goofy song and it's all in good fun. I don't really see why people are so mad that it has so many views. It's hilarious! It's not like she's giving anyone a run for their money for a grammy haha

Ya know- if you stare at the screen long enough, your eyes can settle in to it. But when you're not expecting it, it's hard for the eyes to process.

If I had mistakenly happened across the video (which is simply inconceivable these days- as I said on the Birdemic thread, everyone's trying to find something they can pin as "outrageously bad" or "so-bad-it's-good" so they can say they were the first), I would have thought nothing of it. It's inconsequential. Nothing about it warrants attention, it's another teen-TV looking girl singing a typical Disney / Nickelodeon type song.

It's impossible to see it as just a song about the day Friday since it's been branded. I don't think anyone's come to the song just as a "oh, look at this" because her fame has come by way of other people telling you what to think about this song ahead of time. I was directed to the song by a 14-year old who told it was terrible. And then, proceeded to say she was ugly. I said- back off. Her looks have nothing to do with her talent.

I thought this was hilarious, actually:

I also prefer the beat like this. Much more unique.

Apparently she cried after seeing the "cyber bullying" responses to her song. What was she expecting? She must be as dumb as her lyrics.

^ I agree to an extent. The reason this is part of the story of her fame though is that... Well, go to YouTube- there are like 300,000 Likes. Maybe. And well over 2 MILLION Dislikes.

People aren't trying to help her, tell her she's only wasting her time trying to get a career because she doesn't have sufficient talent. They're trying to kill her in a way. They hope to make her go away by using violent words in their attacks on her. And this has caught on with people because she just has the one song. They think they can stop her before she gets an album and turns into the female Bieber (by the way, he's been excessively AutoTuned himself). And- the more hateful people get, the more attention this whole thing gets. They may well be giving her a career by doing this. And, if she gets an album, it serves them right.

My personal concern though is- these idiots who are going out of their way to be nasty don't care about anything. They're just following other people. It's a trend, they want on the bandwagon. People are being encouraged to take out their problems that have nothing to do with pop music on her. It's not her job to be other people's punching bag. If they can't be intelligent or constructive in their criticism, there's no point in hearing what they have to say or giving them any forum to say it. If she's meant to take anything they have to give, shouldn't they take some accountability for saying it?

I saw that even though the vid has only 1 million or so views.

I think an album is inevitable, but I'd prefer her ego to be at least somewhat deflated by the reaction by both members of the online and music community and that others talentless kids her age stop trying to be the next Bieber and works towards getting a real career. Our "Idol" culutre in general though is to blame for this.

If something bad happens as a result of the criticism the blame should be placed partly on the online bashing, but a person cannot expect to post something online and expect everyone to love it. That's just delusional. If she can't handle critcism (by having a sense of humor for example), she shouldn't have tried to break it in the industry.

As further proof that the people commenting on the video are complete morons (whether they have a point or not with the quality of the song itself), here's one posted by "MsDestinydiva":

All of Youtube is littered with stupid comments, that this video has them should come as no suprise.

Someone who isn't "winning". :)

Some of the Friday parodies are funny. I like the Brock's Dub one the best.

Granted. But this video's comment section seems to attract a higher number of complete morons. Since Disney / Nickelodeon type singers (and the Bieber) can in fact claim their demographic reaches into the single-digits.

The hate "Friday" gets is hilarious in a very ironic way. Here are these people so hateful towards the song and Rebecca Black that they ARE indeed helping her get noticed. A lot of people claim the views are more ironic than helpful, but SHE IS MAKING MONEY OFF IT AND IS APPEARING ON THE NEWS. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I'll be honest, though. The song IS pretty bad, but like Lazario mentioned already, I can't fully blame Black for it. It's a common belief that pop stars (especially marketable acts) have very little control of what they do, meaning that they will likely tell them "SING THIS!" and follow along. Black is likely being told what to do, and hell, likely being used by her parents and other people in order to cash in on the success of Bieber and crew.

The song just makes me laugh. It is VERY silly, almost like a parody of a pop song that forgot it was a parody.

It is true when they say "your haters make you famous" I saw so many comments on youtube that were disgusted by how many views the video had, it's like (you jackrabbit don't watch it so you don't give her more if you hate her that much!). If everyone would just not watch the video they would get what they want (she'd be gone already!) but they're being so mean that they're making her get more attention! So I don't know why they're complaining. They don't even know how to hate someone the right way haha

I think people just don't want to admit they like her and are jumping on the 243 iHate Bebecca Metro Bus because everyone else is on! I think the song is lame and funny. I wouldn't tell someone to die over it you know? At this point Precious' mother is nicer than the people on youtube!

The only difference between Rebecca Black and the Disney Channel “stars” (and this also applies to the Nickelodeon “stars” and a certain prepubescent boy that sounds like a chick when he sings) is better autotune. You can’t fault the girl for seeing that there’s a market for untalented tweens and jumping on it (supposedly, she’s earned about a million in sales already).

Why should anyone be angry with her. Why not the people buying this shit?

I hadn't bothered following any news on this in a while but saw this pop up today:

Rebecca Black pulls Friday video from YouTube

Today's Friday but there's no Rebecca Black to be found on YouTube. The teenager-turned-YouTube sensation has pulled her video for 'Friday' from the site due to a legal issue over her image.

Accord to TMZ, Black has been threatening to sue her label, Ark Music Factory, claiming they have exploited her image and catchy 'Friday' song. As a result of the impending legal battle, Black's team requested the video be removed from the video-sharing site.

"We can confirm that we submitted a Take Down Notice to YouTube as a result of the dispute we have with Ark Music regarding the 'Friday' video," a rep from Black's camp told TMZ.

The move comes just days after a pay-to-watch experiment involving Black's video failed. The user who uploaded Black's 'Friday' video -- presumably Ark Music -- instituted a $2.99 paywall to watch the the clip in its entirety. However, the fee scheme didn't last long and the video was up like normal shortly thereafter.

So those looking forward to having some "fun fun fun" today while jamming out to 'Friday,' don't try YouTube. All you'll get is this message: "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black."

Why couldn't this happen on Monday?

http://www.popeater.com/2011/06/17/rebe ... m-youtube/

* * *

I'm curious as to why Rebecca is claiming only now that Ark Music Factory is exploiting her image and song. Although I'm certain there's a lot of details going on that I have no clue about, it leaves me wondering why she hadn't already taken legal action if it's actually the case.
