I'll be watching the Blu-Rays, but I think Brenders might wanna do more with you all night long. :P

They had the same deal there as Best Buy, $10 off if you bought both, so I just got them both there. My total was $26.98, which is only $5 more than the $21.98 I would have spent at Best Buy (no sales tax in Delaware).
Thanks for the tip! My usual Best Buy had no Cars either, and they checked online of the stock at nearby ones, and none of them had it either. I'll swing by Toys R Us tomorrow and pick them up there.

Or Ratatouille? ;) I assume it is because WALL-E was released when you did not collect Blu-Rays yet? All those movies you have (except Nemo) are post WALL-E release date.

You know its going to be funny adding this to my pixar collection if only for the fact that Nemo will be the only large case in a sea of smaller ones for a while. at least before there was the incredibles to keep it company, now it'll just be the tall freak for years. (and I say years because, well come on, that thing gets delayed annually like its some kind of prank)

Here's a pic of my Disney DVD/Blu-ray's

Image

I'm missing some for a variety of reasons. Some I didn't think had good enough editions to warrent the price, some I sold off in anticipation for the Blu-ray release (Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, and The Lion King DVDs).

I'm missing Ratatouille and Wall-e because I never saw them for a decent price. When I first started buying Blu-ray's I searched high and low for the 3 disc Wall-e (with slipcover :) ) and I couldn't find it anywhere. All I found were the 2 disc editions with no slipcover for $29.99. My roommate has Ratatouille on DVD so for some reason it never became a priority.

Then I caught on to Disney re-releasing these and I was hoping for coupons for Cars and The Incredibles. I'm glad I waited so I'm hoping to get a good deal on Ratatouille and Wall-e when they are re-released in July.

Well, I guess on Friday I'll take advantage of the two coupons and finally start upgrading my Pixar library to blu-ray combo packs. I like all the new uniform covers coming out this summer too.

I hadn't been able to watch the film in ages so popping it in and watching in HD last night was a real treat! Heh heh, I also love how the easter eggs are so much easier to access now than they were on the old DVD. :p

I am officially jealous of the uniformity you guys have. No such luck here, the spines are all over the place (especially with those ridiculous numbers plastered on the side).

Either way, I got The Incredibles last week. For whatever dumb reason, Disney here in Holland skimped out on the second BD disc. Can't complain though since I got it for close to nothing (going by Dutch Blu-ray prices, that is). It's especially stupid seeing how it's practically the same bonus disc as the one from the DVD release from a few years ago. I honestly don't get it, I really don't. Luckily I still have my 2-Disc DVD release, so it's not that important, but still pretty pointless. Shows how much they really care.

Honestly, upgrading my Disney and Pixar films has been a relatively painless process.

I sell the previous DVDs off as soon as I hear an announcement about a Blu-ray release (always from this forum :)) which is generally way before the general public knows.

I sold my Fox and The Hound DVD as soon as I saw it was coming on Blu-ray this year, and it sold on eBay for $14. If there's a coupon, I essentially upgraded for free. I sold my Bambi Platinum Edition DVD for like $13 or $14, and then on release date the Bambi Blu-ray was on sale for $22.99, so a total of $12.99 after the $10 coupon.

While I like special features, I generally watch them once or so, and the movie gets many repeated viewings. Blu-ray IMO is extraordinary for animated films, hand drawn and computer generated. I can't believe the things I noticed in Sleeping Beauty I've never noticed before, and I've been watching that film practically my whole life.

The Pixar movies look unbelievable on Blu-ray, it blows me away every time. I can't wait to have them all on Blu-ray, I definitely suggest buying them release week to take advantage of the huge sales. Totally worth it.

I had a Toys R Us gift card from Christmas, so technically these didn't cost anything! Looking forward to watching The Incredibles tonight and Cars later in the week (or tomorrow :p).

I hope everyone else had good luck today.
I wonder if our Canadian Toys R Us has the same deal. Gonna swing by there right now to take a look. As for Best Buy, ours is still under construction and probably won't be open until June or July. But by then I'll be hopefully living and working in Calgary. 8)

Got back from TRU. Nope they don't have that deal on this side of the border. We're really getting price gouged on movies here in Canada. I'm gonna hold off on these two for now, however, since it's going back in the vault, I picked up Pinocchio on Blu. Managed to find it with a slip cover. :)

Emeryville / San Francisco Bay Area:

The Best Buy and Target in Emeryville are all out of The Incredibles and Cars as of Wednesday night! I learned the hard way...took a 30-minute one-way bus ride there haha.

I actually picked up the last copy of the Target-exclusive Cars combo pack with two toy cars. Strange that the Blu-ray cover is different than the other Cars combo pack, with the half-panel look.

Fun fact: The Best Buy and Target are literally blocks from Pixar!!! Every time I take the bus through Emeryville I can see the front gates. :)

^agreed on the easter eggs, but I dont know why they labeled "Incrediblunders" as one.

Now, if I use the digital copy, I'll have owned the movie on 4 formats! :D

well Target was out of Incredibles and had rainchecks where they were on the shelf. I ended up just getting Cars with the $8 coupon. I'll check back on Friday for Incredibles...sucks that the coupon only lasts a week. I'd rather not have to drive all the way down to best buy just to save $10. Anyhoos, my Pixar blu collecting has officially begun now.

Pixar likes to portray itself much in the same way as the old Walt Disney-led Disney animation studio: one big happy family.

In the new, and quite frankly, utterly great Blu-ray edition of The Incredibles which hit stores Tuesday, that’s certainly on display. The bonus feature Studio Stories: Gary’s Birthday visually shows how humorously the company dealt with too many staff birthday parties that were sucking up too much valuable time. Paths to Pixar shows story artists talking abouttheir work, giving advice to aspiring drawers, and how they got to Pixar.

There’s the Easter eggs that show artists mugging for the camera and animators run amok with animatics and renderings.

But it’s the 22-minute featurette The Incredibles Revisted that is the most insightful since it flirts, underneath plenty of laughs from Brad Bird, producer John Walker and other key personnel, with the revelatory concept that making these Pixar classics isn’t easy and that just because the animators work together doesn’t mean they always get along.

The roundtable discussion gets into it almost immediately with a story of how a high-level, but unnamed and no-longer-at-the-studio, exec (let the guessing begin) was against the project, didn’t think it should be animated, and was lecturing Bird on what was and wasn’t possible with animation.

Bird, known for being, um, passionate, suppressed every instinct to fight back, instead choosing to have John Lasseter pick up the mantle.

“I thought I had the magic John Lasseter ticket and if ever there was a moment to press the Lasseter button, that was it” Bird recalls in the featurette. He also concedes Lasseter “had to do some behind-the-scenes stuff we’ll never know about."

The roundtable moves through several topics (including some early development ideas/sketches/storyboards that show not only how Incredibles was being worked on for 10 years before the movie came out but also tossed out concepts such as the entire family minus the dad being able to fly, and the dad sporting heat vision for one iteration) before touching on low morale and tough love from Bird.

Although the roundtable is filled with mirth as they look back on the movie, the animators talk about a “us versus them” mentality that hit the staff, while sketches of Bird reveal his image amongst the workers to be that of a grumpy or angry leader. There was even a big staff meeting called by Bird that didn’t go well.

Designs and art goes through an approval process by the director and one of them recalls Bird going “I’m going to approve it but it doesn’t mean I like it."

And by end of the process, certain animators began wearing t-shirts featuring a tube of toothpaste with an Incredible logo that was squeezed out, in a move to show how depleted they were.

“I have never had trouble with people who are passionate. Even if it makes them a little bit more difficult to work with. I feel that for 'this' much difficult to work with, you’re getting 'THIS' much more for the film.”
It’s a line that Bird says regarding some of the people he worked with.

I just watched the roundtable feature last night and thought it was pretty insightful. Watching these kinds of things always gives me a new appreciation for a film. I still haven't made it to disc 2 of the Blu-ray, but I'll get there ;) lol

I just popped in the DVD in my PC, and everything about it is new except likely the transfer. Brand-new menus never seen before on a US release, alongside fast-play and the "bonus features" otherwise known as "ads that nobody cares about".
