3 1/2 months, most movies take 4. Not unusually early.

Curious, since this is under the Touchstone label, will it have a DMR code with it?

The reason for the early release date is that it got pulled from a lot of theaters for lack of attendance. I know that is what happened around here. It is already at the second-run discount house.

Besides that, it was not a very good movie. It had some good music and some very good characters, but the movie in total fell flat.

:D

^Huh? I thought it was a surprise hit that nobody including Disney expected. Besides that, I saw it with quite a large attendance on a Tuesday night a few weeks after it opened.

The film has done over $100 million but it wasn't well received in all areas of the US. While some theaters opened with it in February, the same weekend as the Justin Beiberfest movie opened, it only did $6 million.

I probably should have said, I took my grandkids to see this movie and they didn't really like it and the audience we were with was pretty bored with the whole thing.

In some major cities in the US it is still playing in first run houses, but here in Kansas it is in the second-run house already.

Hope that clears up the misunderstanding. I did mis-speak in my earlier post.

It's still playing at first-run theaters here, but Mars Needs Moms is long gone. So does that mean Mars Needs Moms will be on home video next week?

Ever since I heard the name of the title I did not have any interest in seeing this. I do like animation, but there are just some things best left untouched.

On the Blu-ray and DVD cover, Juliet appears to have skin of a flesh and blood human. Everyone else including Gnomeo's mother has clay texture skin.

I'm curious as to why this movie is getting so much flack. Is it that bad?

Not any of the characters were interesting. There were VERY few laughs from me during the movie. Some jokes were really terrible and I could tell they were trying too hard. Worst film I've seen in awhile.

So now the coupon is valid in the US only. No love for Canada anymore? It's just Quebec you're supposed to give the shaft to.

'I Am Number Four' Debuts Behind 'Gnomeo & Juliet' on DVD, Blu-ray Sales Charts
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/i ... uts-193944
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment handily won the weekly "Battle of the Charts," with two of its new releases taking the top two spots on both national home video sales charts.

The animated adventure comedy Gnomeo & Juliet rode its $99.6 million box office run to a No. 1 debut on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart.

In second place on both charts: I Am Number Four ($55.1 million), a sci-fi actioner about an extraordinary teen (Alex Pettyfer) masquerading as a high school student to avoid a deadly enemy who wants him dead.

Overall, Disney for the week ending May 29 had nine titles among the Top 20 sellers.

In rental stores, I Am Number Four debuted at No. 1 on Home Media Magazine’s weekly rental chart, with The Mechanic slipping to No. 2 and Gnomeo & Juliet bowing at No. 3.

I saw the movie on Blu-Ray a few nights ago, and I thought it was mainly cute. It wasn't as bad as some people claimed it was, but it was a very fluff animated movie.

The characters were fun and the story was developed in a solid manner. I like the jokes involving the design of the gnomes (such as the sunbather gnome who has his towel attached to his back, and the soccer player gnome with the ball stuck to his butt), and the use of the Elton John music was great.

It is definitely a rent type of movie.

I have the Blu-Ray but I didn't know it was ever in Theaters. Were the neighbors supposed to be the people who lived at the ruined house with the Flamingo?
