The Master List
Please see the second post for the master list. This is a list of all the games that have been made, as well as the current games in progress.
The Reserve Requests:
If you wish to start a game, make a post here asking for a "reserve" spot on the list of games, and it will be added to the list. When the time comes for your game to start, I will make a post here asking you to e-mail me at udforumawards@gmail.com with your list. Please do not PM me.
Once I receive the list, I will start the game for you. Your name will still be included in the first post of the game (initially, it would have been the thread title, but that would limit the number of characters allowed for the title of the game). This will ensure that games are properly numbered and contain the same rules that match the template below, and also ensure that no games are unofficially created that disregard the rules.
To allow other people to create a "Hurt or Heal" game, there is a limit of ONE GAME per person at any one time. If you have a game going on, you are not allowed to start another until it is finished.
However, remember that only three active games are allowed at one time. While it is still allowed to "reserve" a spot in the upcoming games list, please be aware that I may bump up or bump down the spot to allow a newer game creator to start their game.
This way, more people get a chance to create a "Hurt or Heal" game rather than the same regulars always creating games.
Please try to keep the lists for "Hurt or Heal" at a reasonable length. The diluting of the Polls & Games forums with multiple HoH games that had very long lists is one of the reasons why the game lost players and popularity, resulting in most games simply being two or three people voting daily. While this is not being made as a rule, I recommended the maximum number of items on a list should hover around the 40 mark. This way, it's already double what a Hurt or Heal Mini game is, and is still a reasonably longer list. This is not discouraging games that have more than 40 things to hurt or heal, just a reminder to keep in mind that some people choose not to play the game if it's such a large list they'll be working with.
The Current Reserve List:
Glee Mash-Ups - The Sequel of Disney
Memorable Disney Quotes - Escapay
Pixar Animated Films - 4th Life of Thomasina
Your Game Here - Your Name Here
The Rules of the Game
These are the basic rules for the game, and are copied into every HoH first post.
The basic premise of "Hurt or Heal" is similar to Survivor. Players vote off which films they don't want to survive, but the twist is they can also save films they want to keep.
For this game, we'll use the (insert the topic). (Add description to be more specific).
Each (topic) starts off with 10 points. Players may choose to do one of three actions:
1. "Hurt" a (topic) by deleting 2 points.
2. "Heal a (topic) by adding 2 points.
3. "Hurt" a (topic) by deleting 1 point, and "Heal" a film by adding 1 point.
Players can only take ONE action a day.
"Day" is defined as the 24-hour period between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm in whatever timezone players reside in. Thus, a player may vote at 6:43 pm, then again at 2:18 am, and still have it considered one action a day. Players cannot take actions twice in the same day, for example: at 9:42 am and at 5:16 pm.
Thus, no one is allowed to get a film removed by "hurting" it until it's eliminated, and no one is allowed to raise a film's points by continually "healing" it to the maximum point value.
For games with a listing of 21 or more ("Hurt or Heal"), the maximum point value is 30 points. They cannot go above 30.
For games with a listing of 20 or less ("Hurt or Heal Mini"), the maximum point value is 20 points. They cannot go above 20.
When a (topic) reaches 0 points, it is eliminated from the game and cannot be brought back.
When a (topic) reaches its maximum point value (30 for HoH, 20 for HoHMini), no further points can be added. Points can still be taken away, then added again (i.e. 30 points to 28 points to 29 points to 30 points again), but never go above the maximum point value.
To play the game, simply copy the list and adjust the points to reflect your action. Make sure to bold the film(s) you've adjusted so the next player knows what's been hurt or healed.
- Example:
1. Five films start off with 10 points each:
Doctor Gulley and the Dalmatians of Doom - 10 points
Happy, the Dancing Elf of Phrooflington - 10 points
The Crazy Adventures of Daisy Mae - 10 points
Cats and Elephants Do The Tango - 10 points
Godzilla Versus The Demented Lace Collar - 10 points
2. Player Jessica Tate then decides to hurt one film:
Doctor Gulley and the Dalmatians of Doom - 10 points
Happy, the Dancing Elf of Phrooflington - 10 points
The Crazy Adventures of Daisy Mae - 8 points (-2)
Cats and Elephants Do The Tango - 10 points
Godzilla Versus The Demented Lace Collar - 10 points
3. Then, Player Mary Campbell decides to heal a film and hurt another:
Doctor Gulley and the Dalmatians of Doom - 11 points (+1)
Happy, the Dancing Elf of Phrooflington - 10 points
The Crazy Adventures of Daisy Mae - 8 points
Cats and Elephants Do The Tango - 9 points (-1)
Godzilla Versus The Demented Lace Collar - 10 points
4. Then, Player Jody Walker heals a film:
Doctor Gulley and the Dalmatians of Doom - 13 points (+2)
Happy, the Dancing Elf of Phrooflington - 10 points
The Crazy Adventures of Daisy Mae - 8 points
Cats and Elephants Do The Tango - 9 points
Godzilla Versus The Demented Lace Collar - 10 points
Confused? You won't be after this episode of Soap!
(You can choose to remove this example when starting a new HoH)
To re-iterate:
Players may take only ONE OF THREE Actions per day
-Hurt a (topic) and subtract 2 points
-Heal a (topic) and add 2 points
-Hurt a (topic) for 1 point and Heal a (topic) for 1 point
When a (topic) reaches 0 points, it's ELIMINATED
(Topics) CANNOT exceed its maximum point value of either 30 or 20 points
So...let the healing process begin! Get out there and hurt them!
