Sorry to hear she passed away. For me, as a big fan of animal films, it's close between National Velvet and Lassie. But seeing as National Velvet already has a vote, I will vote for Lassie.

RIP Elizabeth Taylor. UR beauty & talents will be missed, dear girl.

This picture was taken when Elizabeth Taylor was a guest in "The Nanny". She was in the episode called "Where's the Pearls?" from season 3 that's why I know who she is and when I heard the bad news I thought about this episode from "The Nanny".

I love that episode of "The Nanny". The little joke where Elizabeth declines to let Fran try on her ring goes back to an episode of "Here's Lucy", where Lucy does try on Elizabeth's ring and cannot remove it.

Turner Classic Movies will remember the life and career of two-time Academy Award®-winning actress and beloved humanitarian Elizabeth Taylor on Sunday, April 10. The 24-hour memorial tribute, which is set to begin at 6 a.m. (ET/PT), will include both of Taylor's Oscar®-winning performances, with Butterfield 8 (1960) at 8 p.m. (ET) and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) at 10 p.m. (ET).

TCM's tribute will also feature Taylor in such memorable films as the family classics Lassie Come Home (1943) and National Velvet (1944); the delightful comedies Father of the Bride (1950) and Father's Little Dividend (1951); the historical epic Ivanhoe (1952); and the powerful dramas Giant (1956), Raintree County (1957) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958). Also included is the spy drama Conspirator (1949), with Taylor in her first adult role.

11:30 a.m. - Father of the Bride (1950), with Spencer Tracy, Billie Burke, Joan Bennett and Don Taylor; directed by Vincente Minnelli.

1:15 a.m. - Father's Little Dividend (1951), with Spencer Tracy, Billie Burke, Joan Bennett and Don Taylor; directed by Vincente Minnelli.

In addition to TCM's on-air tribute to Taylor, the 2011 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood will feature a special 60th anniversary screening of her brilliant performance opposite Montgomery Clift in George Stevens' A Place in the Sun (1951). I've only ever seen The Flintstones and Father of the Bride.

I voted for A Date With Judy, but I love Elephant Walk (1954) where she unfortunately had to replace an ill Vivien Leigh. You can still see Miss Leigh in some of the long shots...Elizabeth is absolutely gorgeous in this film.

And from what I've read, she had only given birth seven weeks before the ELEPHANT WALK shoot began! She looks amazing in her teeny-waisted gowns in that film.

In all honesty, I've seen almost every one listed and the only two I've ever cared enough to re-watch were Father of the Bride and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. I guess I've never really been a fan of Taylor's.

Why isn't "The Flintstones" on this list? It was her last film.

Her last film was 2001's "These Old Broads"". I didn't include "Flintstones" because I wanted the list to be about her starring roles in films. "Lassie Come Home" notwithstanding (it was her film debut); all the films on this list are certified Elizabeth-starring films.

Wow, it’s been almost 10 years since she passed. Time goes by so quickly... I remember when she was still alive— she had a Twitter account and constantly tweeted at Kathy Ireland. Most of her tweets were addressed to Kathy Ireland, a fellow businesswoman.

I still think A Place in the Sun and Virginia Woolf are her greatest movies. I rewatch Cleopatra because I love the spectacle, the costumes, the makeup. I read an interesting write up about Giant recently which, along with this old thread, has reminded me I need a rewatch.

I haven't seen most of her films, tbh. The version of Little Women where she plays Amy is probably my favorite film that includes her, I suppose. It's the version of Little Women I was always most fond of (although I've heard a lot of book fans don't like it for whatever reason). I never cared for the Hepburn or '90s versions.
