The queue extension could have been pulled off a lot better. The poet voice and Captain tomb voice are really unnecessary and the random planters for three of the tombstones just don't make much sense. It kinda throws off the pacing of the entrance. Of course, I'm being kind to it, it's raised a huge shitstorm over at MiceChat and WDWMagic and other communities.

The new hitchhikers have just been unveiled! Can't wait until I get to see the effect in person.

What's the difference between Haunted Mansion in WDW and Disneyland? I've never been on the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.

There's numerous differences.Nala wrote:What's the difference between Haunted Mansion in WDW and Disneyland? I've never been on the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
The first is of course the outside facade.
WDW- late 1700's/early 1800's new england mansion
DL- early 1800's southern plantation style mansion
WDW has more stuff in the ride than DL's
like DL doesn't have library scene, piano scene, mc escher's staircase scene and prior to 2007, the sinister 11 staring gallery
(now it's the changing portrait gallery like DL's, although in DL it's located after the stretching portrait and before the loading area.)
here's layout differences:
DL on left, WDW on right

WDW(again)

So I finally got to ride this after all the changes.
First of all, the new interactive queue ruins the experience. As a kid, waiting inline for this ride used to scare the shit out of me with the shady graveyard and the wolf howling but it never once gave away that their was ghosts and mischief going on inside the mansion. It was the mystery that scared me. Now they took out the howling wolf and cut down a ton of trees to brighten up the grave yard, in addition to all the "whacky sound effects" coming from the new children's playground that also reveals the ghosts and mischief before you enter the mansion (master Gracy's changing portrait - along with your ghost host - are supposed to be the big reveal that there are indeed ghosts in the mansion and the stretching portrait room is supposed to introduce you to the kind of humor you'd be seeing). Anyways, it's definitely a detractor.
As for the actual ride, I love pretty much all of the updates. Leota floating, the creepy ass bride, the new interactive Hitchicking Ghosts (even if the effects don't really work that well), the great new audio system and most importantly, the great new staircase scene (the empty room with the spider from Jungle Cruise was always embarrassing). As for the replacement of the Sinister 11 portraits with the changing portraits from Disneyland, I'm indifferent. Overall, I was very pleased with this ride.
One weird thing I noticed in the queue before you board the Doombuggies is that some of the ghost host narration sounds weird, like it's not Paul Frees but an impersonator. I'm thinking they may've tweaked some of the dialogue or something.

Well at least you can still see the sinister 11 portraits in the building. most are in the loading area, while three are in actual ride as "Easter eggs" spotting.

They changed the safety spiel a while ago both include English and Spanish and give new points.jpanimation wrote:One weird thing I noticed in the queue before you board the Doombuggies is that some of the ghost host narration sounds weird, like it's not Paul Frees but an impersonator. Here's the old version as a comparison:

I like the pictures PrincePhillipFan.

Sorry to put the question here; hopefully some HM fans can help me!
A while ago there was a website about the HM, where you could fill in your name and then a program made a text for a gravestone (on rime). I don't remember which website that was! I can't find it anymore. Maybe it's not there anymore? I hope someone knows what I'm talking about and can help me out!!
