Japan earthquake/tsunami discussion
An earthquake with a preliminarily measured magnitude of 8.9 struck off the Pacific coast of Japan at 2:46pm Friday, Japan time. Hundreds of people are confirmed dead, with the number expected to climb, possibly into the thousands. A resulting massive tsunami killed hundreds in the beach city of Sendai.

All the East coast states (WA-Cali) were put on tsunami watch, including Oregon.
My town got evaculated to the high school which was perfect cause it was high over lookin Cloverdale, one thing that frustrated me was the waves' height for the coast, changing from 10 ft (6 20am) 7 ft (8am) and 3 ft-5t (10am). I nearly packed everything from clothin/meds/food to possible prized possesions.

I saw videos of this...looks terrible...the death rate is also supposed to be high...then there is the nuclear power plants situation...
I hate hearing when things like this happen but I always consider news of a natural disaster better then news of people mass murdering each other (which makes me wonder if we'll ever evolve beyond that).

This is really, really terrible. I heard on the news tonight that the casualties are quickly running in the (tens of ) thousands. And now the almost-nuclear disaster on top of that... It's really disheartening. It will take years to recover from this. For some people, like elder farmers living in small villages in the countryside, it might take the rest of their lives.
Luckily, the government responded rapidly and has evacuated lots of people from the direct surroundings of the buclear power plants. A third one is now about to burst.
Unfortunately, not everybody is feeling sorry for the Japanese. Plenty of Americans on Twitter are rejoicing over the disaster. Somehow, the tsunami was God's payback for Pearl Harbor, according to these evil bastards:

That HAARP thing got me into a bunch of conspiracy theories. With those things, it's hard to ever know what's true. Especially with so many things happening in Japan all at once, it would be suspicious unless it's all just bad coincidence.
Either way, this is a horrible disaster. I honestly wonder why there've been so many tidal waves in the past 3 years. I'm glad I live inland these days.

This disaster is really heartbreaking, I hope the casualties will be lower than expected and that Japan will make a speedy recovery. Have donated some money to the Red Cross to help.
