Amazon.co.uk has just listed a Cinderella "Royal Edition" DVD with an April 4th release. (The product page can be found here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cinderella-DVD/ ... 698&sr=8-1)
Beyond the shockingly bad cover art, what's interesting is that the frame on the cover contains glass slippers, roses, apples, lamps, starfish and crowned frogs, suggesting that the Royal Edition isn't a standalone title but some sort of "line" containing Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Frog (full view below). There's also fans and hearts - Mulan and Alice in Wonderland? They hardly fit "Royal Edition", although that never stopped Disney Princess.
It's probably also important to note that Cinderella Royal Edition contains only 1 disc, with no bonus features listed other than a couple of music videos.
Is this Disney Home Entertainment UK making a quick buck before the Blu-ray? If so, it kind of waters down the already negligible significance of the Diamond Edition line. And what does this mean for the titles mentioned above if indeed this is the first in a new line? (I know Disney's various "lines" are nothing more than empty marketing labels that rarely reflect the quality of the disc or its content, but I thought it was worth discussing.)
