Check out this article and see how many Disney movies (and other movies, tv shows, and more) Shrek 2 made jokes out of.

I love all the jokes, I know some people don't like the Disney spoofs and all, but I think it's great! :)

Shrek 2 is a brilliant movie. Even though I love Disney, it is so funny to see them get knocked on all of those jokes.

Thanks for the kind avatar you ^

anyways.....

Did anyone noticed the mermaid kissing Shrek in the beginning looked like Ariel? Overall I liked this Shrek better than the first one. Because most of it made replicas of other movies than bashing Disney! I love Puss in Boots! Oh Mommy he's so cute and cuddly! can we keep him!? :D

That's a weird link, and it seems that most of the links just play the ad, while others play the entire 5-minute clip.

Is this some kind of lottery game?

No, I didn't know the link was weird.......I first saw the first 5 minutes on the Nickelodian channel, and it said you can see it on Nick.com so if the other link doesn't work, try Nick.com

I got to see it, but it's almost like a game, with some links playing the whole thing and others playing an ad.

Or maybe that's just the way they pay for it?

When I went to work this morning, I mentioned to some of the kids that I saw Madagascar last night. One thing led to another, and Shrek 2 was brought up.

I was very surprised by the comments made by one rather vain little girl. She immediately told me she didn't like either of the Shrek movies, especially the second one. She went on to tell me she thought Shrek and Fiona should have kissed at the end so they could be human.

Why? I pointed out to her that Shrek was happier being an ogre, and Fiona had learned long ago that looks were not important after all, and that was one of the main points of the movies. Didn't she want the characters to be happy?

The girl looked at me and said, but they're fat! How could you possibly be happy when you're fat and ugly? And especially for Fiona! It's important for girls to be thin and pretty!

Needless to say, I reminded her that beauty comes from within. She rolled her eyes at me.

Uh. . . yeah. And she's telling this to someone my size? :o

Sigh.

Kids. Go figure.

Can some of those REALLY be counted as in-jokes?

The Poison Apple, wasn't there ALWAYS a poison apple in the story of Snow White?
Headless Horseman, wasn't there ALWAYS a Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow.

The mermaid could be considered an actual jab at DIsney because of her hair color, length, tail color.

Well, they did obviously take jabs at a lot of fairy tales in general, but some of the artists admitted that most of it was directed toward Disney even though they had to change the designs of the characters for legal reasons (I'm almost surprised they got away with a mermaid that looked so much like Ariel but I guess it was ok being that it was a parody).

I've always felt that the first film should have been called "Katzenberg's Revenge."

Interesting story Sunset Girl. I think that child was weird. J/K! :P

Anyways I hated Shrek 2 too!

The first Shrek was really good, not great, but good. I think it's the one of the few animated Dreamworks films that's good!

This one was awful! There were several reasons why:

1. Puss in Boots is the most overrated movie character in history.

2. I hated how they had all those lame pop-refrences. The original was a fractured fairytale that work with jokes that were creative, this keep using lame jokes to old movies. That would've been alright if it was funny, but they were lame! Even I could've though of much better jokes than "Burger Prince" . I agree with Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio(the writers of Aladdin and Shrek 1) that this should've followed a classic fairy tale instead.
3. They should've thought of a crazy way to bring back Lord Farquaad. He was one of the coolest characters in Shrek and they replaced him with such an awful villian. I just really was happy when she died because of how unlikable she was, even as a villian.

4. It pushed the crude innuendo too much. Well it would've been fine if they didn't have that lame thong joke!

5. The animation is not very impressive! I think it could've been a little less "realistic". Well that's the problem I have with Dreamwork's CG animation. They try to make it realistic and it turns out freaky.

6. Could they have made the story anymore original? It just used the original Shrek formula too much but with a Meet the Parents twist.

7. Alot of bad pop songs. The only good song was "Funky Town", the others were horrible!

Well that's all the complaints I can think off.

that girl is the best example of how the girls are being bombarded with stupid ideas like "look is everything" "If you´re fat, you aren´t prety" or stuff like that(just lookI mean, they have a disturbing emongous head! how they can have that thing and don´t break when they have that thiny waist

I thought Shrek 2 was great.

I am curious how Puss in Boots is the most overated character in history. :? I don't feel that he is overated at all. I think your just jealous of the Puss in Boots because you want to be him.

You didnt like the Fairey Godmother, then they did their job. You are not suppose to like the villian. They want you to hate her. And be glad when she dies. That is why she is called the Villian. As for Lord Farquaad, it would be hard to bring him back since he was eaten by a DRAGON

The Music was also pretty good, your just not from that ERA.

And I also though the Jokes were great. Like the coach ride and the hair ball for example

And you know, that girl I mentioned is far too young to be worried about that kind of thing; she's going into second grade next year.

Who fills these kids' minds with such things? As much as I want to blame the media, there's more to it than that. I know that this girl in particular gets it from her parents as well.

And as you said, girls get bombarded with these ideas everywhere they turn.

Still, she is just a kid. . . I hope she'll grow out of that mindset.

But I have the feeling that she won't.

Well I feel Puss in Boots is overrated because their was everybody in the audience saying, "awwwwwwwww" and everyone at school was talking about him. I didn't think he was funny!

I know you're not surpossed to like the villians but you really want a villian you just love to hate. The fairy god mother I just really hated her. She also ruined the experience for me.

As for the music, I guess I really didn't like how the songs just weren't needed! "Accidently in Love" was perfectly in there, and I also admit the song was actually good, but all the other songs just didn't belong in the film. At least in Shrek the pop songs I actually thought were good. They perfectly matched the feeling of the film. In these songs almost none of the songs matched the film's feeling, especially Livin La Vi La Vocol or whatever it's called!

You liked the hairball joke. I thought that joke was lame! Ohhhh I get it now, he does cat things! That is so hilarious! Next they should tell me Spider-man does spider things! That would be hilarious!

I liked it. :shifty:

But yes, Puss in Boots is overrated. I never figured out why the hairball joke was supposed to be funny. I liked "I Need A Hero" in the scene where Shrek, Donkey, and the others invade the castle. It fit the scene well. I don't mind the pop culture references; I think they're funny.
