Got the UK twin-pack today and a few comments:

Inside Walt’s Story Meetings is basically the same as a Warner Bros. Maximum Movie Mode, in that the film is relegated to a smaller window, with the bulk of the behind-the-scenes stuff being played out in the main window. I've not spent much time on this, but I believe you can opt to "branch out" at certain times, much like the "focus points" on a MMM.

The image galleries are the same as on Fantasia. So a big thumbs up for me, the galleries are my favourite segments and I'm pleased Disney seem to be moving forward (even if some of this disc is a step back from other Diamond editions).

The short The Old Mill is presented in SD :( A major let-down, and quite inexcusable.

The UK disc is marked as ABC, while Bambi II is marked as just being B and C. Obviously Disney US doesn't want any copies sneaking into the US. Or does it - the outer case holding both discs is simply labeled ABC. Does this mean the sequel is really ABC? Sadly, I don't have the equipment to test.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

So there's nothing new? Is Inside Walt's Meetings exactly the same either than presentation?

Also on Blu-Ray.com someone mentioned that the audio is lossy? Or is that for Bambi 2?

Did you just search "Bambi"? It's called Bambi Diamond Edition Premium Package or something like that. It should be there...
I just searched both. I got nothing.

I agree. That's disappointing. At this point we should be seeing more shorts released in HD.

There's new deleted scenes, and a new deleted song. I've not viewed these, but being as they're not in the classic DVD features section (other deleted scenes are) I assume that they're HD.

As I said, I've not played around with the Inside Walt's Story Meetings section, but I believe you can branch out to additional clips (think the Beauty and the Beast documentary) - that's why its labelled as "enhanced" it has new (optional) content. However, there doesn't seem to be an index of these scenes for you to select, like on Beauty and the Beast (or Prince of Persia which also had a similar concept).

As for lossy soundtrack - I've put everything away now, but I doubt it. As far as I know, Disney has never included a lossy soundtrack for the main English soundtrack on any of their Blu-rays. I doubt that they have started now.

Bambi Diamond Edition Premium Package

That's all they have up on the website about it so far. I don't see any other information. If I find anything, I will post it and let you know. :)

It looks like you have to be logged into the site in order to see it. I can't myself since I still haven't started an account there (I'm waiting on getting extra money since I'm planning on getting the KP sets).

The UK release of Bambi is DTS-HD HR not DTS-HD MA so it's lossy-ish! You're also due to get the same treatment in the US if the press release is anything to go by.

As for Bambi 2, I've yet to watch it - will post audio info soon unless someone else beats me to it :)

I'm inclined to agree with this. While the two-disc DVD was pretty comprehensive, I would have said the same thing about "Snow White" or "Beauty and the Beast" and they both got a slew of new HD features and making-of supplements. While I don't want two discs just for the sake of having two discs, it bums me out that Bambi isn't getting something similar.

And not including "The Old Mill" in HD is really inexcusable and frankly upsetting to me. I'd have loved to have seen it in HD.

Shoot. I didn't even realize that you had to be logged in to see it. Doy. Well, all the website has is the picture that I posted and the price of $69.95. They don't seem to have any other information yet, which is strange. I will have to check the mailing that they sent and see if it says anything else. I will let you know. :)

Well I knew this poster reproduction offer seemed familiar.

Add to that the fact that they basically copy and pasted the contents of the Platinum Edition DVD and you have a rather lazy Diamond Edition effort. Since this was one of the only Platinum Edition DVDs I bought (the other being Aladdin), I was hoping for more then just a PQ upgrade. They dropped the Time Capsule feature and replaced it with a couple of deleted scenes. Even Alice and Dumbo, non-Diamond single-disc Blus, featured more substantial new features over their previous DVD versions.

2099net, can you confirm that the RKO title is indeed still missing (that was another reason I wanted to upgrade to Blu).

...I think it's clear that Disney wanted to squeeze what they had onto one disc, rather than have a second barely filled. After all they've avoided 'bit eaters' hence no true lossless audio and so much SD material - clearly the price to pay!

It is still a good release though and pleasing to the eyes and ears so I hope Disney Blu fans won't worry too much about the feature's quality. Besides (let's be positive!) - it's handy having the film and all the features on one disc but I wouldn't like it to be repeated with films with a longer running time, Bambi is only 70mins or so.

Alice seems much more packed though for a single disc and it has lossless audio.

Maybe it's just the UK disc that has lossy? I am in the UK. Who knows, don't we have like a billion subtitle and language options? Wouldn't be the first time they dropped stuff.

What are the previews on the bluray?

And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true

Does it say what the next two Diamond Editions are?

Seriously, can anyone explain why we're only getting in the combo pack one Blu-Ray Disc, and one DVD as opposed to Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Snow White and Beauty and the Beast we got two Blu-ray Discs and one DVD each?

All four had most of its extras produced in HD, necessitating an additional disc. Even though a single Blu-Ray could have held the film and extras on one disc, the movies were given two discs so that the film could have a higher bitrate. Plus, there was already additional HD streams (Cine-Explore on Pinoke & SB, DisneyView SW & Pinoke, Storyboards on BATB) that took up space on the discs as well. In addition, both SW & BATB had navigation systems for their supplements that are more complex than standard menus.

For Bambi, most of the extras are SD content and the film is barely 70 minutes long anyway.

... Great. Now all we have to worry about is whether or not the DE of Lion King will get two BR discs and not just released in the stupid 3D Blu-ray pack :(
