Blade Runner Blu Ray help

Post by Super Aurora »

I'm planning on buying this on Blu ray but on Blu ray site, they list three different versions:

1. 5 disc set which is about $25-$30

2. Final cut which is a single disc about $10-$13

and

3. Ultimate set which has 5 disc set but is about $230

#1 and 3 have same amount of discs but I don't understand why despite same amount of content material, the vast price difference.

-What is the key difference between the two?

-Is final cut one in #1 or #3?

-Which one you suggest I should get?

thanks for anyone who can help

The $230 one is part of Warner's Ultimate Collector's Edition series that throws in a bunch of swag along with the Blu-ray itself to form a lavish giftset. This is what Blade Runner's is like:

It came with a lenticular motion film clip, an origami unicorn, a replica spinner car, promotional photos, and a hand-signed letter from Ridley Scott. It was originally $100 but since it's been discontinued, the price has skyrocketed on places on Amazon Marketplace and eBay. If you don't care for the extra goodies, just nab the regular 5-disc set. The discs are identical, and it's a phenomenal release in its own right.

The 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition is the one I have. It's definitely the best one if you want all 5 versions of the film and hours of bonus features. I actually got the briefcase set on DVD before I had a Blu-Ray player then got the 5-Disc Blu-Ray when I got a player.

I'm selling mine on eBay right now. Only watched the first disc, none of the other 4. I just didn't care for the movie as much as I remembered. Still love the tears in the rain speech.
