Well, meet the Robinson was more or less complete when Lasseter came to Disney. THe major change they did was to give the robot hat a bigger role. Excapt for that, no changes to speak of were made to the film.Semaj wrote:I just noticed a pattern in the Lasseter-produced Disney films up to now (Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, The Princess and the Frog, and Tangled): They all begin with the main character as a baby.
When Bolt was called American Dog, the polot was still about a dog who was a movie star, and had never actualle met the real world. Obviously, some background material was needed, including the time when he was a puppy.
I have not read the original Rapunzel story yet, but I think that part of the movie is pretty loyal to the story, the fact that Rapunzel is kidnapped as a baby.
The only "Lasseter movie" that remains after that, is The Princess and the Frog. If the idea of showing so much of the characters' childhood was just Clements and Musker's idea, of if Lasseter had anything to do with it as well, I don't know. But for me it seems like it's all just a coincidence.

Well, technically, the movie started with Tiana as an eight year old (?) girl instead of a baby. But anyways, I think that point in the movie was to show Tiana's talent in cooking and hers and her father's drive to work for a restaurant.Rumpelstiltskin wrote: The only "Lasseter movie" that remains after that, is The Princess and the Frog. im on a kiwi trading website that has message boards. ive been lurking on the parenting board and reports from people that have taken their kids to tangled are great! maximus is a big favourite. i think its going to do very well here. the late news ranks recent movies, so will be interesting to see where tangled comes.

But, Tiana wasn't a baby. More like a 4 or 5 year old.
