A question for Luke
Luke,
First of all, let me say that I really love this site! I've only been visiting it for a couple of months, and am really enjoying it! Thanks for making it so cool!
I would like to know how come you don't have Disney's subsidiaries on your site. It is ULTIMATE Disney, so couldn't you have a list with the films made by Miramax, Touchstone, Dimensions and any others that I can't think of right now? It would make your site even better!
But still, if you can't, then that's okay too. Here's just wishing.
Have a nice day!

why, hullo new member...I am not luke, I am supirior to luke, if only I could spell correctly. And what you are saying does sound like a cool idea. Sometimes it just takes an extra push to get luke up and running. Well, more like a few pushes...
anyways.. I hope you enjoy the forums and visit more often.,... and disregard the annoying "page cannot be displayed" messages!

Welcome to the site, Hook!
The reason why the site covers just Disney movies with the name "Disney" in it is because there's a unifying theme to all those films - they're all family-oriented.
Now, most of us here watch and enjoy movies from Disney's other branches, of course. But in general, they're not a whole lot different from the films from other studios. Covering the other branches would mean everything from Miramax indies and foreign films to Bruckheimer pictures to Wes Anderson dramadies...and well, it's kind of hard to find a common thread there.
Of course, it'd also be about 4 or 5 times the work it is now, and I just don't know if undertaking ALL of that (even the modest amount of updates the site entails now requires a lot of time and effort) would be worth it - i.e. how many people want a site that covers all the studio features. Heck, sometimes I'm not even sure if covering live-action features and TV movies meets an audience need - animation may very well be the big draw.
Another reason is this isn't really an ode to Disney as a film studio - but rather "Walt Disney Pictures" as a family film studio. Again, it's not so much of being a proponent of "family entertainment" as it is drawing the line on what to cover and what people want.
In any event, I welcome this suggestion as all, and I'll keep an eye on the poll's results and I'll consider making changes if there's a real demand.
Once again, welcome to the forum and I hope you stick around!

Luke (and jabroni),
Thanks for the reply!
I can see what you mean, totally. And I think the site is great as it is. I think it's worth it that you have the TV movies (I like those) and the Live Action films.
Do you know of any sites that do cover any of the other studios' films as well as yours? (you are definitly #1 for Disney. I hate Disney.com)
I'll agree with you, if people don't want it then please don't go through that much work. I still would love it, but I'll be fine with whatever you choose.
I plan to stick around. This site is the best!

Not sure if you mean the other Disney branches or any studios...if you mean the latter, this fansite is an excellent resource for DreamWorks films:Captain Hook wrote:Do you know of any sites that do cover any of the other studios' films as well as yours? of course luke is higher than me. I'm just a 14 year old at home, who for some reason, knows a lot about this site, and has contributed a little bit to it also!
Oh, and as for site rankings.... it goes administrator, moderator, member. Although there are no moderators due to the lack of absurd posts by losers. (thats a good thing!)
If you were talking about the classes we have, it goes like this, so far:
0-49 posts: Newbie
50-199 posts: Gold Collection
200-???: Special Edition
the rest, we dun know... I believe the new rank will be revealed at post 500, which member MickeyMouseBoy is about to reach.. so, we'll find out!

Actually, 0-4 is Newbie, 5-49 is the very bland "Member." Come up with a better title, if you'd like. "Standard Release" maybe? Nah. But something better than "Member" would be welcome, I think.jabroni76 wrote:If you were talking about the classes we have, it goes like this, so far:

Welcome to the forum, Captain Hook! You'll find this is a great place to discuss all things Disney, as well as some things that are not so Disney. Oh, and it seems one of our Australian friends has a fascination with Pooh...we just smile and nod our heads a lot when he goes off on a Pooh tangent.
Anyway, since the topic has been brough up I've made a small list of my recommendations for levels:
0-4 posts: Noob
5-49: Limited Edition
50-199: Gold Collection
200-499: Special Edition
500-999: Platinum Collection
1000-1499: indianajdp is my hero
1500-2499: must payapal indianajdp money
2500+: I shall send all my new release Disney DVDs to indianajdp
I'm fairly comfortable with the highest three levels and I'm sure most here will be as well

Thanks for the welcome, indianajdp. If it's the same Australian person I'm thinking of, I think his Pooh fascination is okay. I like Pooh, but "The Tigger Movie" and "Piglet's Big Movie" were dumb.
Personally, I think that the 5-49 should either be Standard or Limited. I'm leaning toward Limited. I think then it should be Platinum and as jabroni suggested, Treasure. Limited may be worth more in money, but certainly not in extras!

Actually I like member, I think it's fine, and for people that don't post a lot, it labels them with an unspecial name. I think Standard Edition would be a bad choice. Who wants to be labeled as "standard"?
I personally think Platinum should be the next one at 500, then maybe Collecotr's Edition or Super Delux Special Edition, but let's not got too far a haead of ourselves.
