I love Lizzie!!!

Post by Ric-Mx »

Disney Channel (latinamerica) recently got moved to the basic cable service (it means that no extra fee is required to get the channel). Too good to be truth!!!

I'm just so happy with it, my semester at school is over and I'm free until mid june. So I really "stay tuned" at 3:30 pm for Lilo and Stich: the series (pretty good cartoon), and then I turn it on again at 7:30 pm for the Lizzie McGuirre reruns.

I just love Lizzie (the show, not the girl nor the character)!!!

Before last week I never got to watch the show, and I wasn't interested in the movie either. But I just love it!!! (eventhough I'm way off the target maket of this show... I'm an almost 22 y.o male university student, definitely it wasn't mean to catch my attention)

It's so simple! Lizzie is just a regular girl, not the smartest, not the prettiest, not a teen hero. She's just a girl growing up.
I'm definitely getting Lizzie McGuirre: Pop Star on DVD soon, l just wait until I finish watching the reruns (today th 15th episode was aired, out of 65... besides it's shown every weekday... so it's just a couple of months)

Does the movie really serves as a Series Finale?

I know the show ended this spring, and that Hillary Duff didn't wanted to start a Lizzie High School series on abc.

But I got to get it on DVD. Are these series labeled as Disney DVD's?

Are there any plans to be released as DVD seasoned sets?? :?:
I mean, there are only 65 episodes, it's not too much.

The dvd's that are currently been sold are not too appealing, the episodes are grouped for theme and not cronologically... are those editions any good?

What are your thoughts about this show, the movie and those dvd's???
Is Hilary Duff a good singer???

I was thinking on posting this off topic, but I turn out to ask many disney dvd related questions :P

I thought the show had a lot of promise when it started out. It was pretty clever and funny. Of course, I wasn't the only one who thought that; the show became very popular very fast.

I can't pinpoint why exactly, but I found a noticeable drop in quality shortly after. Maybe it was the increase in moral lessons and shows about Lizzie's crushes; maybe the writers just got lazy.

It is pretty silly for Disney to release 4 or 5 random episodes per DVD in region 1. Even Region 2 going about 6 episodes per DVD seems odd, but at least they're in order and they'll eventually get everything.

I have no doubt that season sets of "Lizzie" and "Even Stevens" would be a success for Disney, so we may eventually get them. Or maybe they'd just like to milk them for all they're worth with like 12 compilations that together cost way more than three season sets would.

You got that right Luke. I'd rather just shell out the money for a season set of Lizzie McGuire than pay the fourteen bucks each for the compliations that are available now. Sounds like Disney is trying to milk Lizzie for all it's worth.

When Lizzie was first advertised, I protested. "Yuck," I thought, "tween girly gossip and corny crap, and a few too-saucy themes." (Eloquent, I know). I ended up watching a few with my sister, though, and ended up really liking them. In fact, of the current/recent live-action Disney TV shows, this is 2nd only to Even Stevens for me. I would purchase DVD sets of both.

Yes, Hilary is a good singer. She's no Whitney Houston, but she's better than Britney. What she lacks in phenomenal vocals, she makes up for in good-sounding songs with above-average lyrics for pop songs (though by no means stellar).

"Let's go back, back to the beginning... back to when the sun, the stars, the earth all alligned."

Yeah, that definitely never happened. Good job, Hil.

As for her being "not the prettiest," I must disagree.

Was the movie intended as a series finale as well? I'd like to know the answer to that, myself.

Glad to see you can enjoy the Disney Channel, Ric. Along with Fox News Channel and Toon Disney, I don't watch much else during the day!

I like Lizzie McGuire too, especially Matt and Lanny (or however you spell it). I think her family is a lot more interesting than her and her friends.
As for Hilary Duff's singing, though . . . this is where I go off the deep end. :x I really don't like how she automatically gets a musical career just because she's on television. In my mind, you don't just become a jack(ie)-of-all-entertainment-trades just because you star in one TV show and you feel like putting out a CD. I can easily see why some musicians would want to explore acting - between interviews, TV appearances and live acts they have to be fairly good actors and actresses anyway - but just because you can act doesn't necessarily mean you know how to sing.
Wow, I've wanted to rant about that for a while. Thanks for providing the opportunity! (I do like the show, though) :D

Hillary Duff is no Lindsay Lohan though. Seriously that feud is like a teenage girl version of Biggie and Tupac

But generally, people who can sing well can also act well, and people who act well can sing well. It's sort of a package talent (though not always). It also makes sense that someone in one sect of the entertainment industry crosses over into another. The recognition they already have is the same recognition that aspiring pop stars seek, so I don't really see the difference.

As for this whole Lohann-Duff feud, I only heard one mention of this on SNL. Is it true? I thought it might have been just a joke. If so, what started this feud, and what is it over?

I'm not entirely sure the feud is a joke, one of the trashy entertainment shows had Hillary Duff whining about the SNL skit not too long ago. It just seemed like she had no sense of humor.

Also just cause an actor can, it sing doesn't mean they should. Don Johnson's Heartbeat, and Eddie Murphy's duo with Micheal Jackson both come to mind when I think about singing actors .

I wonder the same question too is the movie the season finale? So does anyone know ... I think it could be however I thought that it opened the door for another season of the show. Do you know why Lizzie High School on ABC was a no go? Casue I know I would watch it. Lizzie McGuire the show Rocks!

I believe it was a no-go because Hilary (a) has bigger and better things to draw her attention now, and (b) she and Disney had a disagreement over money and apparently some harsh words were spoken. I have to wonder about the status of that now, though, as she still seems to have some sort of working relationship with Disney.

At first I was not a Lizzie McGuire fan but after I saw the Lizzie McGurie movie I was hook on the tv show.
Yeah, when Lizzie McGuire: The Movie came out at the threatre X-Men 2 crush it. I thought that Lizzie McGuire was a great film in a long time for Disney. I also like to hear Hilary Duff sing she is a better singer then Britany Spears. Well, in my opinion Lizzie McGuire is better then Even Stevens and That's so Raven. :D

The Lizzie McGuire television show on Disney channel ended because they reached 65 episodes. Disney channel has had this long standing rule that their television shows will have no more than 65 episodes. Seems kinda dumb though. The Lizzie McGuire DVDs that are out now are alright. I wish there were season box sets though.

Thanks for your response. I just dont see her doing bigger and better things I think its kind of sad that she is sort of brushing off what made her a big star she will always be seen as Lizzie McGuire. I mean I am glad that she is doing movies and enjoying her singing career but sometimes I wonder where she will be 2-3 years from now when Disney stops oplaying her show and runs it late at night.

Well, she has done bigger and better things already. Her movie career isn't A-list, but it's definitely not bad either. In fact, I'd say it's much better than expected. Her looks, age, and sound are taking her to the forefront of the pop music scene, too. I think she has sort of out-grown Lizzie, even though I hate to say it.
