What do YOU love about Disney?

What I love most about Disney is the animation.

I don't know - I can't really answer this, as I think it's a combination of lots of things.

At first, what probably drew me in as a child was the stories. When I came back to Disney as an adult, it was probably a combination of the songs, the stories and the animations.

As I came to know them better, I definitely developed a love of the characters.

And over the last few years, the heroines have most certainly caught my eye.

I love that Walt kept changing his focus and trying new things.

The magic. Believing that anything can happen.

For example, my favorite scene is "A Whole New World"...knowing that maybe, just maybe, a magic carpet ride could really happen... :)

Simple. I love everything about them; the music, the stories, the characters. Pretty much everything. :D

Actually, that's a good point.

I love the castmembers. I have total respect for them and the job they do, and so many of them are just extremely nice people, must be something about working there that rubs off on them.

Agreed, but they're not important enough to be on the poll apparently, like Milk Buds.

Me too. Of course, I'm biased, some of my best friends are former/current castmembers. :P

But Milk Buds and Theme Parks go hand in hand! When walking around a theme park, a guest might be munching on some candy. And what do you think that candy is? Milk Buds! So a vote for Milk Buds is a vote for Theme Parks. Nothing says "Good times in the Magic Kingdom" like some genuine Goodtimes Milk Buds.

omg i love disney so much bcoz its disney! :D :D :D lol, as a fangirl, i feel obliged to list random things that make me love disney so much.

*disney channel. i know, i know, but u old ppl are gerryatticts and dont know what ur talkin about! ;) :frog: like hannah montana says, u get the best of both worlds!  :eye: on the one hand they have old stuff like blam and have a laugh! its really great! :D :D

*king triton! :tlm: :D i know hes a bit of a jerk 2wards ariel at first, but he is awesome as he has super vegan powers and can shoot lazers from his eyes!

*i love the disney theme parks, mostly the rides that have summat to do with the movies or meeeting the characters! my twin brother joe says that he likes the rides, including the scary action ones like star tours and potc (), but he doesnt wanna stand in the rain 4 an hour to give aurora a bday cake, the stupid big willy guy. :x  i do like it sumtimes when they get non-disney stuff in the parks tho, so i forgive him. :) i hope that they get twilight in the parks, as universal got harry potter!

*anastasia! she is so cool, and its so sad that disney doesnt give her any merchandise, while they give boring hard-working ppl like tiana and mulan loads. :( :x :x :headshake: pass me the milk buds, per-leeeeeaze! i wanna see anastasia as a disney princess, and not as a singer with a funny voice and silly songs! :!: :!: :stitch:

my favorite movies from disney are:
the little mermaid, sleeping beauty, disney princess enchanted tales, 101 dalmations (puppies! ), high school musical, jonas brothers 3d, the princess diary, anastasia, the swan princes (sure, its not disney, but its like disney enough)

and to be funny, ones i wish wed forget: ;)
pinocchio (badly animated  ), fantasia (booooorriiiiiing  ), mulan, tpatf, the black cauldron, an american tail, saludos amigos (no hablo espanol, per favore )

When I voted, I said the animation, songs, and villains. When I go into a Disney movie, the number one things I want are eye-dazzling animation, good songs (if the movie has them), and strong villains (be they terrors or showstoppers).

I like the theme parks, but my love for Disney is mostly tied to the movies. The stories can be weak or redundant at times (these movies almost always seem character-based more than anything), and it's hit or miss whether you like the heroes/heroines, so I didn't vote for those.

I love most cartoon shorts, animated movies, only some live-action movies, and a lot of their comics (Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse). However, I loathe the theme parks and the Disney Corporation (quote Keno Don Rosa: "the evil empire").

Edit: changed "very few live-action movies" to "only some live-action movies", because the original phrasing had a negative meaning that I didn't intend.

I love Disney because at its best it represents wholesome entertainment that is imaginitive and innovative while still staying true to time-tested values and recalling the pleasures of old-fashioned storytelling. That is the legacy of Walt Disney and it is what the company he founded should always strive to extend. As long as it does, I will be a fan.

That being said, what I've been fascinated with the most lately are the early shorts and animated films. My introduction to Disney was the early '90s films which hold their weight with me more because of nostagia than appreciation of their execution or technical artistry (although they are good movies and milestones by any measure.) As time has gone on, I've become the most interested in Walt's productions and have only been further stimulated by my recent visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum.

Animation would be at the top of my list, but characters in general would be a close second; not just the leads, not just the villains, etc. since my favorite characters tend to vary from film to film.

Reading your posts, I wonder why you even bother being here. It just seems that you loathe everything about Disney, and you loathe anyone who likes Disney or anyone who has an opinion which doesn't match yours.

Very strange.

That was rather rude. I'm going to defend Goliath here and his mode of thought, as it's not all that far removed from some of my own (though I do like the theme parks ;)). When he says "the Disney corporation", what I think he means is the shameless business side of things, carried out by people who just seem to follow "business for dummies" and do so many ruthless, stupid things in order to make or save a few bucks, ultimately undermining the artistic integrity of the talented people versed in art/film-making/performing/writing. Consider the fact that a lot of Disney merchandise is made in third world sweatshops, the fact that Disney Consumer Products seems to shed any film of its artistic integrity by branding everything and selling it off in a sterile form, or the fact that the Disney fans are often overlooked (look at the whole thing with DTV spin-offs and sequels, the practical abandonment of DVD, the Disney Channel having nowt to do with classic/good Disney). I can understand the dislike of numerous live-action films as well; aside from the ones that have truly endured to some extent or another (Mary Poppins, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Tron, The Parent Trap, Pirates of the Caribbean etc), the Disney live-action films generally tend to be quite samey/generic and aren't as memorable as about half of Disney's animated features. As for the theme parks, they may just not be his cup of tea (I know some people who absolutely love the parks but hate most of the films).
