What Blu Ray/DVD releases would you like to see in 2011?

Post by CampbellzSoup »

Apparently what we have so far:

Secretariet

Alice in Wonderland

Bambi

*A Bunch of Reissues with the DVD/Blu Ray combo that were previously Blu Ray only.

Personally I'm hoping for Hercles and Mary Poppins as well as Mulan? I'm also dieing for Finding Nemo and The Incredibles on Blu Ray!

In '11 we should be getting all those above, plus

The Incredibles
The Lion King
Tangled
Cars 2

Maybe Winnie the Pooh at the end year?

I'm hoping personally for Mulan, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Mary Poppins.

I seriously don't want Hunchback or Hercules to be re-released next year as they would most likely be a DVD release only - Otherwise, maybe them in 2012?

Hopefully, Mary Poppins will come out on Blu but it's unlikely it will get a rerelease until its 50th anniversary in 2014...

The Fox and the Hound has its 30th anniversary next year and The Hunchback of Notre Dame celebrates its 15th, so those two might have a better chance than a random film. I also agree with a few posters above suggesting we might see The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh make a Blu-ray debut to coincide with the new movie in theatres. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we just get a DVD only again.

I emailed Lowry Digital about a week ago, complimenting the company on their restoration of Fantasia, and inquiring what other projects were in the pipeline. The email address was on their website and I was surprised to actually get a response from a real person (instead of some automated message). The person on their end said she was not at liberty to discuss current projects and instead gave me a list of previous Disney titles they had restored. Oh well, it was worth a try!

I'd like to see pretty much any of the 90's films make their way to Blu-ray; I think Hercules and Tarzan are going to look especially great. I also really wish The Great Mouse Detective would be released on Blu, but not sure if that will happen soon, if ever. :(

I agree about all the movies from the 90's that haven't gotten a second release yet. Hunchback, Hercules, Pocahontas, Mulan and Tarzan. I'd also like a blu ray release of Atlantis and The Emperors New Groove, although I'm not counting on the last three considering the Collectors Edition they were given. I'd also really like to see The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, as well. :)

We'll definitely see The Little Mermaid on Blu-ray at some point, as it was a Platinum title and will be re-released as part of the Diamond collection, but it won't be for a few years. :(

Unless they decide to switch things up, we're getting Bambi and The Lion King in 2011, Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella in 2012 (educated guess), and probably Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid in 2013 (again another educated guess), if Disney follows their Platinum release order.

However, who knows if they'll re-insert Aladdin into the mix now that Fantasia is out of the Diamond category, or switch up the release order to have a title coincide with an anniversary or something.

As it has been said many times before, Disney likes to play by their own rules, so expect the unexpected!

-New SE DVD and Blu-Rays of the Disney-owned Muppet Movies
-The Muppet Show Season 4
-The Tick Vs. Season 3 (with the "missing" 2 episodes)
-2-Disc CE DVD and Blu-Ray of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (released under the Disney label)
-A SE DVD set of The Muppet Show Season 1 (with all the episodes fully uncut)
-Prep & Landing
-SE of the Winnie The Pooh movies (to tie in with the new movie. The new features can be episodes from the TV series for all I care)
-A 2-Disc 10th AE DVD and Blu-Ray of The Emperor's New Groove
-Maybe a new 2-Disc CE of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

I'm keenly anticipating too many Disney films on Blu-ray to name and its realistic to only expect a limited few to be released in 2011, so in addition to those that we're already expecting, I would like and think it would be avantagous for Disney to put out (in order of preference):

1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
2. Finding Nemo
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 15th Anniversary
4. A "Package Features" Set covering Saludos Amigos - The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (they would move more copies this way)
5. Cars 2-Disc Set
6. Atlantis: The Lost Empire 10th Anniversary
7. Tron Blu-ray
8. Treasure Island 60th Anniversary (missed it in 2010, but close enough)
9. The Parent Trap 50th Anniversary
10. The Absent-Minded Professor 50th Anniversary

Regarding Hunchback and Hercules, I could see Disney continuing the 2-Movie Collections with this and saying that it's a 15th Anniversary Edition for both of them (since Disney is EXCELLENT with dates).
