Favorite Theatrical Poster?

Post by Cheshire_Cat »

Does anybody have favorite theatrical posters for any of the movies released by Disney? If so, which ones?

I absolutely love the artwork of this Hunchback of Notre Dame poster. I think it captures the mood of the film quite well:

They did such a good job promoting Pinocchio's 1992 re-release that the six-year old me thought they remade the entire film.

A few of my favorites:

This along with the trailers made me think this would be a grand crossover movie.

One of my personal all time favorite posters was the 1 Sheet for the Initial US Release of The Disney Classic: Follow Me Boys

Granted compared to todays not the most glamorous in the graphic design sense. But it gave you a feeling that you were going to be seeing a film the whole family would enjoy, between the mixture of promotional stills and the characterized stand up of MacMurray's character in the film.

And not sure if this counts since this was never used, but I love it because it reminds me of Drew Struzan's artwork:

My two favorites are probably The Little Mermaid and Mulan. I think I just have a thing for silhouette sort of things.

This wasn't used as a theatrical poster, but it definitely should have. It would have been my favorite. I love Drew Struzan's work :)

man, i never even noticed some of these posters.

the second mulan poster is great! never saw it before in my life! the first one is the cover for the soundtrack, which i have.

i never noticed the top-right corner of the narnia poster.

Disney was right not to use the Enchanted image as it just looks like a bad photoshop job.

This is and has always been my favorite Disney poster since it came out and all the hubbub started about the "graphic".

@ DancingCrab: Unfortunately, not all the images you posted, show up. Whenever I right-click to "Show image", it says: "Access denied". :?

Off the top of my head, I really like The Little Mermaid one with Ariel sitting on the rock, the BATB teaser with the silhouettes of Belle and the Beast, as well as the BATB poster from the IMAX reissue, the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs poster in all its off-model glory. I remember I also liked the Lilo and Stitch teaser with all the Disney characters back in the day. I also like the original Mary Poppins poster that makes the film look more like Cabaret or Chicago, with the scenes from Step in Time and the big floating heads of Julie and Dick.

I'll only post the three posters I mentioned that haven't been posted yet-

MP Chicago Edition (I would LOVE to own this poster!)-
