Who are your LEAST favorite animated Disney heroines?
It's the exact opposite with me. Cinderella and Aurora are barely stars in their own movies.Goliath wrote:I dislike Wendy and Alice. They are just too sweet, too goody-goody, thus they're too boring. Yes, Aurora and Cinderella were passive as well (yes, she was, Duster, no discussion this time), but at least they had personality. Alice and Wendy are void of any trace of personality.

All right, I know I'm new here, but really? Yes, the whole point of forums is to express opinions. But, there are ways to express opinions tactfully. If you can't state an opinion without attacking another person, it makes your opinion seem weaker. It seems like a couple members are in debate class and are trying to strut their stuff every chance they get. I joined this forum because I thought it was more mature than the "The Jonas Brothers are SOOOOOOO HOTT!!!!" Disney fan forums. In some ways UD is more mature, but when it comes to debating, the little tweenie fansites are more mature than UD. Can't we all just get along?Goliath wrote:The whole purpose of a forum is to express opinions. About the main topic, my least favourite heroine is Ariel. I know I just gave some of you a reason to hate me, but she always seemed so empty to me. She's cute, and she sings a nice song, but she's so diminished compared to Andersen's Little Mermaid. Some other poor heroines are Eilonwy, for reasons everyone else has mentioned. Also Aurora. There's nothing to her. She's just pretty. That's it. She has no personality, does nothing interesting (except sing one song), and she has furry eyelashes. It's always bothered me.

@Jackoleen: You don't like Jane solely because of her looks? That's harsh. I think Jane's one of Disney's better heroines. She's not idealised like Aurora or Pocahontas. As far as Disney heroines go, she's one of the most realistic. She has a unique personality, (she's a bit ditzy, but not in the same way as Ariel or Rapunzel) and she's not really concerned about her appearance. How many other Disney heroines go trekking through the jungle to study apes? That said, I really don't think she has anything in common with those women at Disneyland, except the muscular husband, of course. Wait, not even that. Tarzan isn't even Jane's husband.

And I promise this is the last time I'll use a picture from Shrek.

Hey everyone,
Interesting topic.
Jane: This will seem shallow, but I don't like her because of her design. Even when the movie first came out, i saw her and thought "her nose makes no sense. Its floating at a random spot in her face". It bothers me to this day.
Pocahontas: She just takes herself too seriously!! I found her introductory scene so pretentious: Pocahontas is standing majestically at the edge of a cliff staring at the skies. Get over yourself! Go have some fun!
As for all the attacking of the poor Belle...who happens to be one of my favorites...she isn't a snob at all! She doesn't look down on anyone! All she says is that what is around her isn't what she wants. I actually love how much of a feminist she is, but without the filmmakers shoving it down our throats. she is an independent thinker, and makes a huge sacrifice for someone she loves. And she even stands up to the beast!! Either by rebutting all he says when she is healing his wounds...or even from behind a close door refusing to go to dinner! cmon people...

I think the simple image of Pinocchio and Alice kissing would make quite a few people feel uneasy, since they are child characters, and moreover they are sharing in such a passionate kiss. I have no qualms over the avatar itself, though.Semaj wrote:Why?Super Aurora wrote:Your avatar and sig disturbs me. Big time.

I have never seen such an obvious case of the pot calling the kettle black. After reading so many of your posts Disney Duster, how is it that you cannot see that you always do this same exact thing you are accusing Goliath of doing? I can think of several occasions when you have said "no, no, no that's not true" and then spouted off on something about your "essence" as if you know the answers to everything. If you followed your own advice to Goliath, I think many people would have much less of a problem with the way you put your points across at times.DisneyDuster wrote:Goliath, they are only sexier in your opinion, it is not "true".
We're not going to Guam, are we?
Like I stated in the pairing thread, it's more appropriate for Alice to be with someone closer to her age than with someone who is at least a generation her senior.Wonderlicious wrote:I think the simple image of Pinocchio and Alice kissing would make quite a few people feel uneasy, since they are child characters, and moreover they are sharing in such a passionate kiss. Lazario, you know, at first I didn't like how Belle put herself in a terrible, terrible position, but actually, that's like gallant knights who sacrifice themselves to save damsels. Still, if you don't like her because you would never do what she did, because maybe you'd come back for him by killing the beast or having an escape plan or some other option, then, indeed, it's still warranted.
Goliath not when it hurts people's feelings like that. Attacking films and characters people like is one thing. Attacking ideas of people's value and feelings is another.
DisneyAnimation, what I said above.
Linden I'm dislike Ariel for a few reasons but I don't know if I would say she's empty. I mean, she had her big dream, desire to learn about it, and was very spirited, even if she didn't think to deeply (?).
Semaj, your avatar and banner disturbs me too. It's mainly because of the way they are acting. It's not innocent at all like I know those characters. They are not kissing like little kids in puppy love. They are kissing and looking at each other in a way far more adult than their ages.

I can change the signature, though I assure you that nothing dirty is intended in either image. Some of you are reading too much into these things.Disney Duster wrote:Semaj, your avatar and banner disturbs me too. It's mainly because of the way they are acting. To be honest, I don't see Alice coming across as a romantic type like Wendy is. She seems more of a realist.
Even though I found it disturbing, you didn't have to delete it

That's very true. When I responded to Jackoleen, I was attacking arguments, not the person who wrote them. But Disney Duster has a nose for drama and will jump onto any occasion to create it, even when there is not the slightest of reasons.Linden wrote:All right, I know I'm new here, but really?
