I'm a HUGE Buffy fan and I really think this is a bad idea.
Bottom line is...

Shouldn't this be in Movies, Music, & TV?
Anyway- I still say no Buffy can replace the 1992 movie. And after seeing any number of episodes from the TV series (which at times I hate with a passion), I'm glad the movie didn't take more of Whedon's original ideas.
And yes, members here will say they've heard me say all that before but I still take every opportunity to be the official UD voice of Buffy disdain.

Considering what a flop the movie was, you'd think they'd reconsider. But I as a fan of the show, I am not going to count it out just yet. Too early to do that. Afterall...did the creators of Batman get any input into Nolan's renditions.
Not saying cutting out Whedon and the rest of the writers, as well as the cast are going to mean this will completely fail. I think its WAY too early to say that and very ignorant as well. Whedon has been a large part in the Season 8 in comic book form and I can honestly say, I don't love the comic book as much as the series. Season 8 for me has been kinda a ehm. I just didn't like it as much as the series itself.
Just because the original creator has no part in it doesn't mean, it will essentially suck. Lord of the Rings is a good example of this. I can't say whether I will like it more than the tv show or if it will succeed more than either the tv show or the movie. It might be worse, it might be better, or it might just be in the middle. A new take, still just as good, but I might prefer the show and its cast and stories better. Or vice versa.
I'm not holding my breath though. Not excited to see it. Yet. When we actually get some more info such as cast, storyline, and one day a trailer, then I will decide if it will be something I am excited about. Unless it looks utterly atrocious, I'll probably see it.
