my chicken is infected wrote:^ Jean Cocteau's version of B&TB is an absolutely exquisite piece of filmmaking. Visually breathtaking, especially for a film made in Europe during WWII when materials were in short supply and CGI was decades off. The visual effects rival some of today's biggest CGI epics, in my humble opinion. Definitely catch it, it's worth a look or five.
Now I'm really interested.

I've also noticed these Disney movies popping up on Hallmark Movie Channel lately (and in HD).

Because I remember you said once you were waiting for TCM to air it and you missed it. I thought if you hadn't seen it yet, you might want to know it's coming on this month.

And it's definitely worth watching. Searingly memorable performances by its cast - especially Ms. Taylor and Sandy Dennis, who won well-deserved Oscars for their performances.
I hate the movie, personally, even though I respect it. A lot of talent. A lot of madness. But in the end, signifying nothing other than a giant gaping emotional black hole. It's the like the forerunner of those Lars Von Trier movies that drive people up the wall.

All in all, November looks like a pretty good month for TCM but next month (December) should be even better.
According to my onscreen television guide, Walt Disney and his studio will be discussed in this week's episode of "Moguls and Movie Stars: The History of Hollywood". The episode is called "Brother, Can You Spare a Dream?" and it will air tonight at 8:00 PM EST and again at 11:00 PM EST. The episode will be re-aired again next week on November 29th at 7:00 PM EST right before the next new episode.
Old Yeller (1957) (6:30am) Pollyanna (1960) (8:00am) The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975) (10:15am) Swiss Family Robinson (1960) (12:00pm) The Love Bug (1969) (2:15pm) The Parent Trap (1961) (4:15pm) The Age of Believing: The Disney Live Action Classics (2008) (6:30pm) Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) (8:00pm) Return From Witch Mountain (1978) (10:00pm)

Unfortunately, there is only 1 Disney movie airing on TCM this month (and I would say it's a rather mixed bag in all areas of programming, this month, too).
