Any Cheryl Cole fans here?

Post by miklc »

Hi there, I'm a major Cheryl Cole fan (to the point where I think I'm in love with her!) and I was just wondering whether there are any fellow Cheryl fans here on UD! (I will be very curious to know whether anyone from the US is aware of who she is, as right now she pretty unknown Stateside!)

<CENTER><P>Image</P></CENTER>

This woman is HUGE in Britain, to the point that she's been titled "The Nation's Sweetheart". For those who don't know who she is she makes up one fifth of Girls Aloud (Britain's biggest girl band, who found fame through a reality TV contest back in 2002 and have since went on to release 5 albums and a long list of UK Top 20 singles), born in Newcastle Upon Tyne (my hometown!!) into relative poverty. Since the bands hiatus (at the end of 2009) she has since gone on to pursue a solo career already spawning two albums (her debut has now gone multi-platinum), 3 Words and Messy Little Raindrops. On top of all this she is a judge on the massively successful show The X Factor (which is soon be making it's way to America!) and is the face of Lo'real! Seriously everything she touches seems to turn to gold! For more info on her here's her Wikipedia page:

Here's her latest video which is the fastest non-charity single of 2010 (in the UK) so far, Promise This:

Yeah I keep meaning to give this a listen, apparently it was written to be "tongue-in-cheek", though Allen later withdrew this comment from what I've read anyhow...

I don't know exactly why, but it makes me extremely happy to know that Cheryl has some fans in the America! :) I know that Selena Gormez is a major fan, stating her as one of her role models. How familiar are you with her solo music?

That's music to me ears (literally)! I'm exactly the same, I got both her albums on their respective release dates and they're both firm favourites of mine often being listened to on loop! Out of curiosity what are you favourite tracks from the two? Presently my top five would have to be (in no particular order) Parachute, Fight for this Love, Promise This, The Flood and Let's Get Down. Funnily enough all bar one of them have been released as singles (The Flood is her upcoming single)! I'm excited for her duet with Rihanna next year, I hope that starts to get her some much needed coverage across the pond. Have you heard the UK Version of Will.I.Am and Nikki Minaj's single Check It Out? It features guest vocals from Cheryl :)

(I apologise if I have made any typos or spelling mistakes her, as I'm writing on a BlackBerry currently!)

Sorry for the double post but I just HAD to post this, for anyone that's interested it's Cheryl Cole's newest video for her upcoming single The Flood (released January 3rd 2011, video premiered yesterday November 24th) taken from her sophomore album Messy Little Raindrops. I think it's my favorite of her videos so far, love the emotion in it and I can't stress enough how much I LOVE the fact that at one point she's made to look like a mermaid!!! Here it is, enjoy:

<object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/umBmQo_jWO8?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/umBmQo_jWO8?fs ... 2=0x6b8ab6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>

Also purely for interest here's the video for the UK version of Check It Out featuring guest vocals from Cheryl! She looks amazing in this video:

<object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l1J6nTW8wiM?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l1J6nTW8wiM?fs ... 2=0x6b8ab6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>

I'm so glad there are some other Cheryl fans on here ... I absolutley love and adore and worship her !

Shes my current musical obsession ... love the new album; a big step up from '3 Words', which is an achievement in itself !

Personal top 3 personal favourites from 'Messy Little Raindrops' ....

*Promise This (My favourite song of the year I think!)
*Waiting
*Better To Lie

But pretty much love it all anyway !

I love how she is on the X Factor and in interviews; shes spunky and has her own opinion, but she is still caring, sweet and down to earth. After the traumatic and just plain hideous year she has had, she deserves some loving from all us fans :)

Im really enjoying Everyone (feat Dizzee Rascal). I do enjoy Cheryl, and her performances, and her videos, but I'm really sad that Nadine hasn't done well. She's by far the best vocalist, and she has a unique voice/look. Sucks to not have the promotional machine that Cheryl has.

I think Promise This could be a strong contender for my favorite song of the year as well! I downloaded the song from iTunes the day it came out and by the time her album was released (a week later) that song had about 115-120 plays in my library! I completely agree with you about her in interviews, she really does possess that likeablity factor. atlanticaunderthesea judging by your name and avatar/signature I'm thinking your also a big fan of The Little Mermaid (like me!) have you seen her new video (I posted it just before your post)? She looks like a mermaid in part of it! It's like two of my favorite things merged into one!

I have to admit that I'm also sad for Nadine Coyle as well seeing as she has been pushed into the shadows. I downloaded her debut single and enjoy listening to it a lot and I plan on getting her album at some point, but I think the fact that her album is exclusive to Tesco is detrimental to it's sales, it would have been better to make it exclusive to the likes of HMV. I still think there's time for Nadine, I will be interested to see how well her second single (if she releases one) preforms

Right now I can't get enough of Raindrops and Hummingbird I've been listerning to them along with The Flood constantly, hope one of them gets released as the third single! :) I do hope that Cheryl manages to crack the American market, because I really think she deserves too!

Mmmm definitely, I have no idea why they would only want to sell it at Tesco? I think perhaps she would've been better off signing a larger label contract rather than creating her own, because the promotional would've helped her so much.
She's planning to release Put Your Hands Up in early 2011, so crossed fingers that does well. Its a catchy song, and I love her voice in it. She's a great talent and I hope she finds her footing soon.

Does anyone have suggestions for Cole‘s best songs? I listened to “Promise This” because several members here had posted this as one of their favorites, but I wasn’t into it much.

I’m just wondering because I plan to watch the X Factor, but I have no idea who she is beyond a British sensation.
