Two positive reviews and one mixed review so far on Metacritic. Surprisingly Variety's review is positive. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/tangled

Mother Gothel wants to star in a brownie ad!

Post by Jackoleen »

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,

NOTE: SPOILER ALERT FOR "MOTHER KNOWS BEST"!

I was listening to "Mother Knows Best" on YouTube, and when Mother Gothel said "I love you more!", I instantly thought of those Duncan Heinz/ Pillsbury heat-and-serve brownie commercials!

Doesn't Mother Gothel sound as though she's in one of those commercials when she says that line? It's as though she views Rapunzel as her double fudge brownie/ fountain of youth, rather than as a daughter...

What do you think?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Bad news to Disney fans, Entertainment Weekly gave, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1," A-! Better cross your fingers and toes, and hope that Entertainment Weekly gives Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," an A- as well, or even better, an A (actually, an A+ would be much better).

I don't understand why this is bad news. Harry Potter is only sitting at an 80% even with Entertainment Weekly, while Tangled is at 100%, albeit, it only has 6 reviews, but that is pretty good!

Prologue
Mother Gothel:
Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine

What once was mine

Young Rapunzel:
Heal what has been hurt
Change the Fates’ design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine

What once was mine

I've Got a Dream

Hook Hand Thug:
I’m malicious, mean and scary
My sneer could curdle dairy
And violence-wise, my hands are not the cleanest
But despite my evil look
And my temper, and my hook
I’ve always yearned to be a concert pianist

Can’tcha see me on the stage performin’ Mozart?
Tickling the ivories ’til they gleam?
Yep, I’d rather be called deadly
For my killer show-tune medley

Thug Chorus:
He’s got a dream!
He’s got a dream!

Hook Hand Thug:
See, I ain’t as cruel and vicious as I seem!
Though I do like breaking femurs
You can count me with the dreamers
Like everybody else
I’ve got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I’ve got scars and lumps and bruises
Plus something here that oozes
And let’s not even mention my complexion
But despite my extra toes
And my goiter, and my nose
I really want to make a love connection

Can’t you see me with a special little lady
Rowin’ in a rowboat down the stream?
Though I’m one disgusting blighter I’m a lover, not a fighter –
’Cause way down deep inside I’ve got a dream

I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
He’s got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
He’s got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
And I know one day romance will reign supreme!
Though my face leaves people screaming
There’s a child behind it, dreaming – Like everybody else
I’ve got a dream

Thug Chorus:
Tor would like to quit and be a florist
Gunther does interior design
Ulf is into mime
Attila’s cupcakes are sublime
Bruiser knits
Killer sews
Fang does little puppet shows

Hook Hand Thug:
And Vladimir collects ceramic unicorns!

Flynn:
I have dreams, like you – no, really!
Just much less touchy-feely
They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny
On an island that I own
Tanned and rested and alone
Surrounded by enormous piles of money

Rapunzel:
I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She’s got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She’s got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I just want to see the floating lanterns gleam!

Thug Chorus:
Yeahh!

Rapunzel:
And with every passing hour I’m so glad
I left my tower – Like all you lovely folks
I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She’s got a dream!
He’s got a dream!
They’ve got a dream!
We’ve got a dream!
So our diff’rences ain’t really that extreme!
We’re one big team...!
Call us brutal – Sick –

Hook Hand Thug:
Sadistic –

Big Nose Thug:
And grotesquely optimistic

Thug Chorus:
’Cause way down deep inside
We’ve got a dream!

Hook Hand Thug:
I’ve got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I’ve got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
I’ve got a dream!
I’ve got a dream!
I’ve got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I’ve got a dream!

All:
Yes way down deep inside,
I’ve got a dream!
Yeahh!

Healing Incantation

Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt
Change the Fates’ design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine

What once was mine

Mother Knows Best (Reprise)

Rapunzel:
I think he likes me.

Mother Gothel:
Likes you?
Please, Rapunzel, that’s demented.
This is why you never should have left
Dear, this whole romance that you’ve invented
Just proves you’re too naïve to be here
Why would he like you?
Come on now – really!
Look at you – you think that he’s impressed?
Don’t be a dummy
Come wigh mummy
–Mother

Rapunzel:
No!

Mother Gothel:
No?! Oh. I see how it is.
Rapunzel knows best
Rapunzel’s so mature now
Such a clever grown-up miss
Rapunzel knows best
Fine, if you’re so sure now
Go ahead, then give him this
This is why he’s here!
Don’t let him deceive you!
Give it to him, watch, you’ll see!

Trust me, my dear
That’s how fast he’ll leave you
I won’t say I told you so – no
Rapunzel knows best!
So if he’s such a dreamboat
Go and put him to the test

If he’s lying
Don’t come crying
Mother knows best...

The Tear Heals

Heal what has been hurt
Change the Fates’ design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine

What once was mine

Something that I want

She’s a girl with the best intentions
He’s a man of his own invention
She looked out the window
He walked out the door
But she followed him
And he said, “What’cha lookin’ for?”

She said, “I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything I see.”

Something that I want
Something that I tell myself
I need Something that I want
And I need everything I see

He’s been livin’ in a pure illusion
She’s gonna come to her own conclusion
Right when you think you know what to say
Someone comes along and shows you a brand new way

She said, “I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything I see.”

Something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything – ’cause

It’s so easy to make believe,
it seems you’re livin’ in a dream
Don’t you see that what you need
is standing in front of you?

I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything I see

Omg! Thanks so much! But sadly, you just made me realize how short the movie was. They can easily easily summarize the movie in 48 pages and make it make sense... -_-

Just because we're Disney fans doesn't mean we want Harry Potter to fall flat on it's face... Yeah, they happen to be in competition this year, but you can bet that I already bought my tickets to Harry Potter.. just because I wanted Tangled to do well doesn't mean I want Harry Potter to be a bad movie. I hope it never gets anything less than A-!

To tell you the truth, I am planning to see, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1," too. I was curious if some of the Disney fans are not interested with that movie. I did not know that they would still be fascinated with that movie, and so will I, and I hope too that it would reach to an A. Who knows, maybe Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," and, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1," will end up, a tie perhaps...maybe. Anyways, I am planning to go see that movie as well, including Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," and they are both going to be great movies for this month.

I don't think there's anyone in the world who isn't interested in seeing HP7.

Of course not. It is based on a best selling novel. As for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," it is based on a Grimm fairy tale. By the way, to tell you the truth about Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," I could not stop thinking about the ending, because I have read the junior novelization of how it goes, including the reading book with pictures, and it is very powerful.
