Awesome pictures!! Thanks for sharing. Isn't Zac the greatest. He is one of the nicest, coolest people on earth.

Meanwhile, I have another blog post- this one is about Flynn's design. I think my one about Rapunzel's design got lost in the shuffle. Here are the two links.

Getting Tangled: Flynn Rider's Character Design

Since the soundtrack came out, I'll be doing a music post soon. And over the weekend I went to Disneyland and met Rapunzel and Flynn, so a post about Tangled in the Disney Parks is on the way. Please read and follow if you all get the chance :)

Hello Guys and PLEASE...

...would have a favor to ask !
Here it is : during the last month, we've been trough a lot of teasers, trailers, featurettes, with every time a few new pictures… For my personal Itunes collection illustrations, i would need the 4 following very shots were we saw

- Furious Gothel in daylight shouting "you'll never leave that tower ever !" (and the echo goes scaring every characters… it's not the dark one where she says "now i'm going to be the bad guy")
- Rapunzel playing guitar like on a kind of stage with curtains
- Rapunzel standing on the tavern table while singing among the thugs, her golden spreading, arms raised
- any shot of the magic flower when growing from ground

I know some of you were very skilled to make beautiful stills from those scenes.. i saw a lot all trough that post, i could go back through it all to pick 'em but would someone in pm, or juste there for the pleasure of all to see, would send them to me if they have, or create them ? Thanks, thanks, thanks for your solidarity between tangled fans !

PS : I'm french so Youhouuu ! I am going to the movie premiere tomorrow at THE GRAND REX ! Call me lucky….

I remember someone mentioning concept art of Rapunzel at a fortune teller's ages ago, just before PatF was released. Could've been an interesting scene.

During the ''Mother knows best reprise''- Does Gothel scare the sh!t out of Rapunzel just like Ursulla in ''Poor Infortunate soul'' ?!

I know alot of people wanted the lyrics to "I've Got A Dream" so here they are, sorry it's soo long, I took 10 minutes to type it up exactly as it was in the CD booklet.

Hook Hand Thug:
I'm malicious, mean and scary
My sneer could curdle dairy
And violence-wise, my hands are not the cleanest
But despite my evil look
And my temper, and my hook
I've always yearned to be a concert pianist

Can'cha see me on the stage performin' Mozart?
Tickling the ivories 'till they gleam?
Yep, I'd rather be called deadly
For my killer show-tune medly
Thank you!
'Cause way down deep inside
I've got a dream

Thug Chorus:
He's got a dream!
He's got a dream!

Hook Hand Thug:
See, I aint as cruel and vicious as I seem!
Though I do like breaking femurs
You can count me with the dreamers
Like everybody else
I've got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I've got scars and lumps and bruises
Plus something here that oozes
And let's not even mention my complexion
But despite my extra toes
And my goiter, and my nose
I really wanna make a love connection

Can't you see me with a special little lady
Rowin' in a rowboat down the stream?
Though I'mone disgusting blighter
I'm a lover, not a fighter-
'Cause way down deep inside
I've got a dream

I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
He's got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
He's got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
And I know one day romance will reign supreme!
Though my face leaves people screaming
There's a child behind it, dreaming-
I've got a dream

Thug Chorus:
Tor would like to quit and be a florist
Gunther does interior design
Ulf is into mime
Attila's cupcakes are sublime
Bruiser knits
Killer sews
Fang does litte puppt shows

Hook Hand Thug:
And Vladmir collects ceramic unicorns!

Flynn:
I have dreams, like you-no, really!
Just much less touchy-feely
They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny
On an island that I own
Tanned and rested and alone
Surrounded by enormous piles of money

Rapunzel:
I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She's got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She's got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I just want to see the floating lanterns gleam!

Thug Chorus:
Yeahh!

Rapunzel:
And with every passing hour
I'm so glad I left my tower-
Like all you lovely folks
I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
She's got a dream!
He's got a dream!
They've got a dream!
We've got a dream!
So our diff'rences ain't really that extreme!
We're one big team...!

Call us brutal-
Sick-

Hook Hand Thug:
Sadistic-

Big Nose Thug:
And grotesquely optimistic

Thug Chorus:
'Cause way down deep inside
We've got a dream!

Hook Hand Thug:
I've got a dream!

Big Nose Thug:
I've got a dream!

Thug Chorus:
I've got a dream!
I've got a dream!
I've got a dream!

Rapunzel:
I've got a dream!

All:
Yes, way down deep inside, I've got a dream!
Yeahh!

Wow. Just listened to the entire soundtrack. Anyways, my opinions on all the songs are-'

When Will my Life Begin?-Still not sure about this one. The lyrics are repetive, and it sort of seems out of place

When Will My Life Begin? (reprise 1)- short, and the kind of song you'd need to know what was happening to understand

Mother Knows Best-I felt a deep pain in my stomach listening to this. And that's a good thing. The lyrics are interesting and it was paintfull for me to listen to her insult poor Rapunzel. Gothel is a promising villain. Who cares if she has no powers? She's tearing apart an insecure girl on the inside.

When Will My Life Begin? (reprise 2) don't have much to say about this one, since a bunch of other users summed it up already. But I have to say, this song is a true Disney Princess type song that is far better than the original.

I Have a Dream-It could have been better, but it probably would be more entertaining in theaters. I'm just happy that the lyrics are good and that Zach/Flynn sings in this. :p

Mother Knows Best (reprise 1) Lets just say I felt like punching Gothel in this song. Rapunzel says she thinks Flynn likes her (he obviously does at this point :p) and Mother Gother calls her naive for saying that, and that her whole idea was domented and she says, "How could HE like someone like YOU?" UGH! She's the kind of villain I LOVE to hate. Actually one of my favorites in the soundtrack.

I See the Light-I'm pretty sure most of us have already listened to this, but it reminded me of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. It's romantic and the melody and vocals are great.

Healing Incarnation-Mandy sounds beautiful if this, and it sounds like a lulaby. Pretty. :)

My favorites are Mother Knows Best, Mother Knows Best reprise, I See the Light and When Will My Life Begin reprise 2. :D

I have a lot to say about some things mentioned in this thread. First, the soundtrack. I haven't heard all of it yet, but I quite like it! "When will my life begin" is very cheery and poppy, but I like it that way. I have to wait and see how the film uses it, but I suspect the feeling is that of both bittersweet anticipation as Rapunzel dreams of seeing the lanterns and is hoping for Gothel to let her go see them.

The reprises reflect that. You have the sad moment of realization when her dreams and shattered, then you have extreme happiness and joy when it is made a reality. If you listen to all the reprises it makes sense.

"Mother knows best" is very catchy. I like how it manipulates Rapunzel's emotions with concern while there being an element of evil and greed hidden within her voice.

"I've got a dream" I love. I am already loving the pub thugs and this song just pushes my admiration for them. For the poster that mention about how this song was weak and was nothing like "Be our guest", once again think back to the scenes these songs were used in. "Be our guest" was supposed to be a grand celebration of the woman that would set the servants free of their curse. It was also meant to be a Broadway-like show stopper. "I've got a dream" is far simpler, but it works because this is about a group of men singing about their own desires and fighting with the status quo. It's fun, jovial, and fits the mood of the scene well.

Like I already mentioned, "I see the light" is my favorite song of the bunch. Once again, it is very simply but conveys a lot of emotion, and talks about growing loving rather than being in love from the very minute they meet. I also like the metaphor of their presence being the light that they needed in their life, so it makes for a wonderful love theme.

I do agree that the songs and specially the lyrics are very simple when compared to the efforts seen in the fab four films, but they work. Music is highly subjective so it can be hard to criticize something that others will either enjoy or hate. I say the Tangled songs work by themselves and should be judged by how they are used in the movie.

Regarding CG animation, I personally am not bothered by it. Do I want to see more hand drawn, stop-motion and other methods of animation being used? Absolutely. But I am not one of those fans that are quick to diss a movie because it's in CG. After all, CG, like hand drawn animation is a means to tell a story.

I do agree that it makes the characters look plastic, but if you try to achieve extreme realism (like in Zemecki's mocap movies) it gets creepy. Same deal with 2D animation. The skin always look perfect, even if the character is meant to be hairy, scarred, ugly, stuff like that. If you try to add those details the character looks off.

Also, about CG trying to be realistic, let us not forget that Disney's old animators studied human movement and physics A LOT in hopes of obtaining a realistic illusion. The difference now is that there is a dimension to work with. I say CG adds weight to the characters, hence why at times the movements are either stiff or odd. But to say that CG tries too hard to be realistic is forgetting that at one point the Disney animators wanted to convey some form of realism in their movies as well, often pairing it with extreme unrealism in the process.

Finally, CG tends to bother me a lot when used heavily in live action films, like the Star Wars prequel. At least when the movie is in full CG the characters blend in well and you believe that they are part of that universe. With live action films, however, you have an extreme clash of reality and fantasy, often making the humans look way out of place and the CG being very jarring in the real world. There's no organic feel to these characters and the results are very off. The only exception would be Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, where the world was already fantastic and the live action characters were made to look other worldly, so the blend works.

Had a good friend of mine send me a copy of the graphic novel! I took a few quick pictures of the inside with my cell, sorry they're not anything special! But it's a taste at least for those still waiting for it to be available in their area :)
