The headshots posted on Facebook appear to be from the new movie. Hard to make a comparison between these and the originals till I see them in motion, but I do like what I see. Pooh's eyebrows are back to their brush-stroke style instead of clean lines like in the spin-offs, and his fur is golden again instead of pure yellow.
Since they're giving us a trailer so early, I'm guessing this is only a teaser and that we'll probably get a full one Spring next year.

Anyone notice the plot outline on the newly updated Winnie the Pooh Facebook pages?
I believe the movie will be very good, and this time they're following more closely to the A.A. Milne original stories than those previous works. But still, I hope the end result won't feel too much like a "remake" of old Pooh cartoons...
Eeyore loses his tail... an idea from an episode of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Owl sends the gang to save Christopher Robin from an "imaginary culprit"... Pooh's Grand Adventure, anyone?Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh,” the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. “Well a tail is either there or it isn’t there,” said Pooh. “And yours isn’t… there.” Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theaters July 15, 2011.

Wow, Christopher Robin's finally gotten a costume change (well, besides his winter wear) as seen in that Yahoo promo pic.
I did this earlier in this thread, but I'll revisit it here now that we've gotten a bit of story confirmation. These are the chapters from both Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. Everything in red was adapted in 1977's Many Adventures while everything in blue is likely to be in 2011's Further Adventures. Green indicates the "Day for Eeyore" short which isn't part of either film but can be considered an unofficial bridge between the two films.
Winnie the Pooh
In Which We Are Introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh and Some Bees and the Stories Begin
In Which Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into a Tight Place
In Which Pooh and Piglet Go Hunting and Nearly Catch a Woozle
In Which Eeyore Loses a Tail and Pooh Finds One
In Which Piglet Meets a Heffalump
In Which Eeyore has a Birthday and Gets Two Presents
In Which Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest and Piglet has a Bath
In Which Christopher Robin Leads an Expotition to the North Pole
In Which Piglet is Entirely Surrounded by Water
In Which Christopher Robin Gives Pooh a Party and We Say Goodbye
The House at Pooh Corner
In Which a House Is Built at Pooh Corner for Eeyore
In Which Tigger Comes to the Forest and Has Breakfast
In Which a Search Is Organdized, and Piglet Nearly Meets the Heffalump Again
In Which It Is Shown That Tiggers Don't Climb Trees
In Which Rabbit Has a Busy Day, and We Learn What Christopher Robin Does in the Mornings
In Which Pooh Invents a New Game and Eeyore Joins In
In Which Tigger Is Unbounced
In Which Piglet Does a Very Grand Thing
In Which Eeyore Finds the Wolery and Owl Moves Into It
In Which Christopher Robin and Pooh Come to an Enchanted Place, and We Leave Them There
Reports are saying that Further Adventures is adapting five chapters, so I believe the two chapters that deal with Piglet and the Heffalump will be combined (or the second occurrence will be removed completely), with the Heffalump replaced with a Backson so as not to cause confusion with the Heffalumps seen in other films.
I don't see them covering the North Pole Expotition, Kanga and Roo's intro, or Pooh Corner since those were done as flashbacks in Piglet's Big Movie. Disney may be tossing that film out the window, but I can understand them not wanting to re-adapt those stories for fear of confusing and/or alienating fans. Besides, since this is a sequel, it wouldn't make sense to include the Kanga and Roo intro, anyway, since we already know them.
Why? This is a sequel to the 1977 film, not a remake, and it's only a reboot in the sense that it ignores all of the sequels and spin-offs that come since the original (though Pooh canon is flexible enough for any of those films and shows to fit in if need be). Both the 1977 and 2011 films cover different stories from the original two A.A. Milne books, so if you put them together, you have the majority of those books adapted by Disney.Semaj wrote:Plus, this is sure to cause confusion with the 1977 movie.

Christopher Robin look like he's dress as a lawyer.

I'm excited about this new Pooh movie. I loved Many Adventures, and the New Adventures series, but not so much the later stuff. I am glad that Jim Cummings is back as Pooh and Tigger as in current Pooh media (including the Kingdom Hearts series) I can't see them voiced by anyone else but him. Tom Kenny as Rabbit I'm not sure about though if he's just going to use his Spongebob voice on him (which is what I fear will happen) then it won't work like Ken Sansom's did. Craig Ferguson as Owl? now that's odd, but it could work with proper direction.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

I have an easier time imagining the bees with the voice of Spongebob. If I were to choose a voice actor who had worked on the Spongebob show to voice Rabbit, it'd be the voice actor for Squidward (too lazy to look up their name).kenai3000 wrote:Tom Kenny as Rabbit I'm not sure about though if he's just going to use his Spongebob voice on him (which is what I fear will happen) then it won't work like Ken Sansom's did.

Well, I can see that. But not casual Disney fans.Disneykid wrote:Wow, Christopher Robin's finally gotten a costume change (well, besides his winter wear) as seen in that Yahoo promo pic.

It might just be the title I'm concerned about. I don't think many people really recognize the 1977 movie by its full name. Like with Alice in Wonderland, it's going to become a headache in regular conversation:
Me: "So I was thinking of something I saw in Winnie the Pooh once..."
Someone Else: "The new one or the old one?"
Me: (sigh) "The old one."

Same here.kenai3000 wrote:I am glad that Jim Cummings is back as Pooh and Tigger as in current Pooh media (including the Kingdom Hearts series) I can't see them voiced by anyone else but him.
I wouldn't worry too much, like many voice actors he's very flexible and has done a lot more than the character he's most known for.kenai3000 wrote:Tom Kenny as Rabbit I'm not sure about though if he's just going to use his Spongebob voice on him (which is what I fear will happen) then it won't work like Ken Sansom's did.
I love Craig Ferguson but am really curious as to how he'll sound here.kenai3000 wrote:Craig Ferguson as Owl? now that's odd, but it could work with proper direction.
First of all, I think most people would state which movie they are referring too "I was thinking of something I saw in that new Pooh movie".Semaj wrote:Well, I can see that. Secondly, especially in Australia, I don't think most people realise there is a 1977 Pooh movie

Rabbit's supposed to have a new voice?kenai3000 wrote:Tom Kenny as Rabbit I'm not sure about though if he's just going to use his Spongebob voice on him (which is what I fear will happen) then it won't work like Ken Sansom's did. Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Yeah some article I read confirmed it. Tom Kenny is a great voice actor, but not who I'd see voicing Rabbit.Disney's Divinity wrote:Rabbit's supposed to have a new voice?kenai3000 wrote:Tom Kenny as Rabbit I'm not sure about though if he's just going to use his Spongebob voice on him (which is what I fear will happen) then it won't work like Ken Sansom's did. That would be Rodger Bumpass.Sky Syndrome wrote:I have an easier time imagining the bees with the voice of Spongebob. If I were to choose a voice actor who had worked on the Spongebob show to voice Rabbit, it'd be the voice actor for Squidward (too lazy to look up their name).
