Good point. I hate that Lumier is on the side, it should be either Belle or the Beast, or the rose, or something. But if both SB characters are on that spine, then both Belle & Beast could've been on BATB.

For sequels, I think it's fine... so long as the main character is on the spine of the first one.

It's now availble from the Disney store with lithographs, and or a pin set and plush toy.

Wow, so it looks as if that will indeed be the finished cover art after all, or atleast as of now, but I like it. :)

I also like the lithos!

Hey and it seems as if To Be Free will be on the new soundtrack, but not Proud of Your Boy hmmm.... I may hold off on the soundtrack and see if I can just get the one song, I've heard a lot about To Be Free I just haven't heard the song yet! :)

(Oh and the reason I'm holding off on the soundtrack, is that, not only do I have the original soundtrack, with the unaltered lyrics, but I also have the Music Behind the Magic Soundtracks, so a repurchasing of this soundtrack just for the one song, may be over doing it just a bit...

Oh, and about the Beauty and the Beast issue (with the spine characters) it was just part of their marketing strategey (good or bad) to get you to buy all three, hense why the spines were numbered I, II, and III, but this doesn't seem to be the case with Aladdin, anyway I don't know why I even brought that up... The title characters should ALWAYS be shown on the spine!

iTunes has a chopped-off version of the covert as the new soundtrack cover: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSt ... Id=6656691

There's also a preview of To Be Free on there, or you can purchase just the song for $0.99

Boy is it a relief to find out that a) there's a platinum banner and no horrendous "First Time on DVD" banner and b) that the logo is back to its glitzy, dimensional form again.

A-men.

But did anyone notice that the VHS in the Disney store pics also say Platinum Edition? Was that the case w/ the VHS for SW, BATB, and TLK.

Yeah, the VHS tapes for other Platinums had the platinum banners on their covers.

What a relief! :)

Or, could it be that Disney has not yet posted their new cover. I mean, the DVD specs site for Aladdin still shows the cover without Genie, and this one just looks like the original concept art we saw. Anything's possible until we get official conformation....

I'm pretty sure this is the final art because this is the first cover to have both the THX logo and the Disney DVD logo on it.

Cool! As my favorite movie of all time, I'm all over these offers.

I wish you could just get one or the other plush (or both if you wish.) I've still got my adorable Abu plush from the original release 12 years ago (!) and don't need another one of him (plus the new one doesn't look as nice), but I wouldn't mind the Iago. I never got one of him, since he was the villian (until Return of Jafar, anyway.) Very cool lithos though.

Ideally, I'd be able to order the gift set with lithos, 4 frames, and the Iago plush and pin.

Why can't I order the gift set??!!

Oh, and...

Tried to download this, but the iTunes sofware won't install on my machiene (I'm still running Windows 98, and it only installs on 2000 or XP versions), so could somebody be kind enough to post a picture of the new CD art and the MP3 here for my quick download? Thanks.

Disney Kid- just to add what you said, I also think it's final because usually (though not always) the cover art posted online for someone to buy is the one they will get, because it's what they are expecting.

Jake- I tried copying or downloading the pic from iTunes, but it won't let me. The URL requires you to have iTunes for it to open (it redirects to the site within the program itself). The new soundtrack wasn't on Amazon, so I'm not sure how to do it. Sorry.

Well I just found a supposed official image from Disney Database of the Aladdin cover art. It's good quality and is a wonderful cover, le't shope it stay s this time! I thought we could revisit some of the older cover, so here's the official timeline of the Aladdin covers with the new one being the last:

The most recent cover art is much better than the one right before it! Not only is there the First Time On DVD banner at the top, but also, the title looks so bland in that one. I'm glad that it was changed! :)

That picture of Genie on the spine, really bugs me, though...the VHS had a picture of Aladdin on it, so why is this a pic of Genie?
That's pretty much the only thing that I would like to see changed, otherwise, I like it! :thumb:

Well the last to be posted is definitely the best to be posted, though I still wish Aladdin was a bigger focus of the cover, and that he was on the spine.

Can one still preorder Aladdin at the Disney Store? I forgot to check last time we went. I know that if you want the pin and plush, you have to order online.

I definitely like this cover the best and hope it stays. I too am annoyed about Genie on the spine, but it's a small price to pay for actually getting Aladdin on DVD. Nice to see Mulan's gonna be on the spine on her self-titled DVD. Seems to me that that "First time on DVD" thing was put over the cover with some simple work in Photoshop. It's crooked and doesn't go with the rest of the cover.

It's a good there is no ''All-New Song" or "Virtual Something" banner on the cover. But maybe on the final version...

I dont think anyone ever answered your question about the VHS but the answer is yes even the VHS have the Platinum banner going acorss however what I cant recall is wethere or not the new songs are automatically included or not or even if there are diffrent versions like Orignal and New song.

And regardong the whole Genie on the Spine thing I am still beting that it will change simply becasue it is Aladdin's movie and its still kind of early but hey thats just me trying to be a bit postive. :)

And oh yes one more question I am not sure if ths has been answered or not will Aladdin have the Roman numeral (Cause My Lion King didn't have it) was it just a test thing on Beauty and the Beast ?

I too am wondering that. Did BATBs sequels have the numerals on the spine?
