Wasn't it announced that Doc Hudson would be made a statue in honour of him in Radiator Springs?

I think if this Dustin Hoffman news is true, he's playing a new character rather than replacing. I mean, it's like Blake Clark, who sounded exactly like Jim Varney, so he was the obvious choice to voice Slinky. Hoffman and Newman don't sound all that much alike. It would be pretty obvious that it's Hoffman.

That would be an interesting and strange twist to next summer's big Kung Fu Panda 2 vs Cars 2 showdown!

That teaser trailer was lame. They're spies now? Seriously... what?

uhhh....any hope for this movie to be just more succesful than the first in my opinion has went totally down the toilet for me.....

This maybe the movie that leads to Pixars undoing....

Edit - This has terrible meteocre DTV screaming all over it in that trailer. Any little faith I had in this movie or even less faith in the DTV of Planes, Trains and Automobiles is out the window for me... Put a stake in this engine and end it..... :shifty:

I never liked the first film, and after watching the trailer I'm thinking I'd probably like this one even less.

I find it funny that the same group of people who know how un-truthful Tangled's trailers are, seem to be already dismissing this film from a teaser - with no actual footage from the film.

It seems like every time a teaser comes out of a Pixar film, everybody begins to think that it's the end of Pixar and they've finally made a flop. And then, the film comes out, it's a massive hit and everybody loves it. Okay, admittedly, this is a sequel to their least-liked film and this might break their Oscar streak (considering the first film didn't win Best Animated Feature), but keep your hopes up, people. For all we know, this could *shocker* be better than the first one.

Yeah, exactly. Also, people online love to complain about Cars and say they hate it and what a lousy movie, but talk to anyone in real life about it and they love it. I've been told by many people that this is their favorite movie and many of these people aren't even into animation. Not to mention that sales of the toys from this movie are pretty good too.

To go along with what estefan said, Pixar also shows a record for making good sequels.

Something we all know about Pixar is that they aren't making these films to win Oscars. They are making them to tell good stories they want to share. I believe that this film is probably a little bit of a marketing ploy to sell more Cars merch and a bit more about Pixar having more they want to tell with these characters. I think it's obvious that the Pixar team likes these characters enough, or else they'd create something new.

My fear is that the Pixar team is actually running out of ideas, but until they actually do create a flop I'll trust that they are making something worth-while.

P.S. I'm not really a fan of the first Cars either, but apparently enough people do like it.

Annoying isn't it? we all know how bad Pixar is at making teasers. most of them suck. this is old news guys. I don't care for the teaser, but I know better than assume the movie will be bad because of that.

The first movie is in my top 3 Pixar films, but I don't know how much I'm feeling the focus on the spy aspect in that teaser trailer. That being said, I'm sure that I'll love the film...

I think the best teaser they've done is this one out of any of their films is this one:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eU6Djgf0gNo?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/eU6Djgf0gNo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

other than that...yeah pixar's teasers have been rather weak, but the spy thing is the thing that makes me want to abandon ship....I like Cars, It's not my favroite pixar film, but neither is Finding Nemo, I like all of them and hopefully I wll enjoy this one....there are just some that are in my opinon better than others but they all are excellent....The Spy thing is what I think is going to scare people who are fans of pixar though kids will probably think it's cool...idk....they've only done 2 sequels and thats in the Toy Story line...This will for sure be interesting to see how it does. I will see it in theaters. I think regardless it will be a hit...who knows...I won't pass my final verdict until theaters, but that might be one of the weakest pixar trailer i've ever seen...or rather didn't want me extra much dying to see more more....if anything it makes me rather doomsday thinking...and all this info on their what i've dubbed Pixar's Planes Trains and Automobiles unrelated to a comedy done a long time ago with the late John Candy :P

^ I agree about the Incredibles teaser trailer being the best.

For me, I like Mater. I think he's so adorable and funny. Imagine him as a spy...it should be funny. So I guess I'm less apprehensive about the spy thing just because it is Mater.
