America is a dumb country so I wouldn't be surprise if that did happen. Actually it proabably will happen.Disney Duster wrote:I fear that! I fear that children will start thinking the original fairy tale was always called Tangled or something!

I know the oscars have gotten bad over the years, but they just got ten times worse.sotiris2006 wrote:Now they have made it so a score from an animated musical cannot be validated as best score in any way, not even underscore.

It's funny how people are still talking about the name "Tangled". Probably on the twentieth anniversary we will all still be talking about how the name sucks.

THIS. THIS. THIS. THIS. THIS.phan258 wrote:SillySymphony wrote:I wanted to share a curious moment I had today.
I was at lunch with some family and friends. One family has a seven and a three-old-daughter. The youngest had brought a Tiana doll to lunch, so we were chitchatting about Disney princesses. I then generally asked, "So...have you heard about the new Rapunzel movie coming out?" Without delay the older daughter piped up, "You mean Tangled?!" I was a little caught off guard. I mean, I've honestly tried and the word Tangled doesn't come naturally out of my mouth: it sounds wrong. But the way this girl said it...it sounded...right. Just comes to show: if you're excited or passionate about something, a word you once considered to be terrible can sound sweet to the ears, especially from a child's voice.
Thank you for this story, it was such a nice change of pace from all the complaining and pessimism! I think all the people in doubt about various aspects of this movie should read this story and learn a little something: kids don't care about the title. They don't care if it's hand-drawn or CGI, they don't care who narrates the prologue and they don't care about how many songs there are in comparison with previous movies. They just love and enjoy it for what it is. Why can't you?
Also, that story made me smile

MONDAY OCTOBER 4, 2010

Promotion anticipates the release of Tangled
Within weeks of its release in theaters, finally the marketing team of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures is getting the batteries to promote Entangled, the new feature of the house that tells the story of Rapunzel. New behind the scenes featurettes , promotional images and the possibility of a third and final trailer in the next weeks show the need to convert the movie box office in a fairy tale for the company. The official titles of the songs have been confirmed and are "Prologue" with Gothel and small Rapunzel, "When will my life begin" with Rapunzel, "Mother knows best" with Gothel Madame, "I've got a dream" with Vikings, Rapunzel and Flynn, "I see the light" Rapunzel and Flynn, but with a Rapunzel, which we reserve the title for spoilers and other issues simply titled Final, plus Incantation, repeated over film.

See? This was the whole point of the marketing everybody's been complaining about, make people know and care about the movie, that's what Disney needs right now, make people care again about their movies, and I'm sorry, you're not gonna get that by doing the same stuff they did 20 years ago.

Tangled
Alan Menken Twitted: "Working on new End Credits song for TANGLED."
I thought he had nothing to do with that song?
Though it could mean that he was working on it with Grace Potter, the girl who is supposedly writing it.

Credits usually run longer than one song too. Maybe he's referring to whatever score is usually playing after the pop song.Disney Duster wrote:Alan Menken Twitted: "Working on new End Credits song for TANGLED."

Leaving for an extended stretch in LA. LEAP rehearsals start tomorrow. TANGLED score nearly done. Into the belly of the beast...
Btw, his twit posts are kinda old. The first one was made on the 2nd of August and the second one on the 22nd of June. Perhaps he was going to write the end credits song initially but then Grace Potter came into the picture.Writing 2 new songs for upcoming NEWSIES musical. One for Les and one for Medda. Frustrating. For those who have wondered, yes, Flynn does deliver the film’s prologue. It’s not goofy, but rather essentially in line of with the second trailer. Basically, given the setup for the film with Mother Gothel, the magic flower, the Queen’s ills and all, someone pretty much has to.
story was strong and essentially true to the Disney Princess experience (although does get a bit heavy with Flynn admittedly, but it almost has to be done), but the songs are definitely a very weak link. And away we go with the spoilerific review:[/u]

I find this very hard to believe, especially since basically every other reviewer has said they're great. I'm not going to let one man's somewhat unfavorable opinion ("so-so" were his exact words) sway me. XD

I have yet to dislike an Alan Menken soundtrack. I doubt Tangled will be the first one. I'm sure the music will be just fine.enigmawing wrote:I'm not going to worry either, I'm anxious to hear the music for myself!phan258 wrote:I find this very hard to believe, especially since basically every other reviewer has said they're great. How about Home on the Range? The only good song there was "Will the Sun Ever Shine Again".PatrickvD wrote:I have yet to dislike an Alan Menken soundtrack. I doubt Tangled will be the first one. I'm sure the music will be just fine.

That's what I was afraid of. If you listen to songs of the Little Mermaid broadway, they're very nice lyrics but once in a while the lyrics either don't rhyme or they are there for no reason at all.The lyrics just didn’t seem to flow 80% of the time and the rhythm seemed off to me.
