Me too! I believe him in a way because he is a really big Disney fan like us lol. He also knew that we weren't going to get a Camp Rock 2 $10.00 off. He also said we aren't gonna get one for the new Tinker Bell movie as well.
Disney really cutting back on those coupons. They only are going to release them for the big releases.

I pre-ordered Toy Story 3 today and picked up Camp Rock as well at Toys R Us and guess what the RZone employee told me....

ALADDIN IS COMING TO BLU-RAY WINTER 2011! YES!!!! I cannot wait!

The employee said that the Disney Lady had a paper and it was confirmed for winter 2011! I am SOOO HAPPY! I get my second favorite Disney film on Blu-ray next year!

By winter did the mean january or febuary or november- december 2011.

If it was the former they would have had start promoting it already, and if it was the latter it would be kinda hard because i dont think that aladdin is right for the holiday season it would make more sense to do it in the fall. But let's see what happens.

Maybe they are making this a parallel to the Fantasia release?

I know a lot of this isn't really verified or anything, but we might be looking at an extremely crowded release year for 2011.

These are just the big animated releases, not to mention and bigger live-action releases. Beyond that Disney might also throw in some smaller DVD-only releases (similar the The Black Cauldron release). Call me a negative nancy, but IMO there's no way Disney is going to give us all of that.

Once upon a time I got excited when Disney announced the scheduled releases of my favorite animated classics.

I was extremely excited for the announced "Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 Diamond Edition" set with Fantasia World this past March along with Dumbo, the 70th Anniversary Blu-ray after SEEING IT IN THEATERS.

Then Fantasia got delayed until May. That was ok.

Then it got delayed until Autumn. OK....

Then they stripped it of the Diamond edition title which it was always intended to have and deserved and left out and amazing platter of extras from the anthology collection.

Oh, and not to mention we can only hope that Dumbo will actually arrive a full year later in the American market.

No..no...I don't get excited when pieces of the the Disney release schedule are announced anymore. I just sit back and hope for the best, knowing the the whims of the company can cancel the distribution of their major banner home video titles mere weeks before they are supposed to hit shelves.

Aladdin next year? That's a nice thought...

January and February are counted as winter 2010, not 2011.

In all seriousness though, I am officially fed up with being teased for months and occasionally YEARS (Lilo & Stitch, I'm looking at you!) with the promise of bonus packed definitive releases only to have most of the goods fall off the wagon by the time I'm ALLOWED to hand out my hard earned cash.

A sharply worded letter is in order. Yes I know it won't do any good. But venting my frustration to the do-do-birds who control the Disney Home Video release schedule will at least give me a little bit of personal solace even if they don't understand a word of what they read and use my letter to line the cages that Disney forces them to sleep in while not on the job!

I have to say this, Disney is terrible at dvd releases. Theyre so cheap when it comes to promotion and packinging , yet for some dvd's like The Lion King, theyll make all new bonus features that are very inferior , when they could have saved money, by using the laserdisc features, and adding, some music videos and games. They could also save money by just rereleasing films just to theaters and not imax. Who wants to bet that when The Hunchback Of Notre Dame is released on blu-ray, theyll forget about the 2- Disc Edition they posted on their website for a couple of hours in 2001, and just add a blu-ray promotion, and an audio commentary. Disney can be really dissapointing.

I wish Disney would stop pushing aside it's classic films in order to release some cheap knock off movies like Tinker Bell and their newer Disney movies like Princess and the Frog. We've missed out on Dumbo, the supplements on Fantasia, and Blu Rays for The Great Mouse Detective and The Black Cauldron, and so much more. Why do they feel compelled to release Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue on Blu Ray and not Disney movies with actual merit?! I know, I know... profit... they're a business... yada yada yada. D:

Oh, I can only hope Aladdin will ever see the light of day again so soon. I thought that was a popular home video classic though...

^because BDs for new releases are easy. Releasing classics on BD is different - Disney wants to make a "event" out of them so they have a big impact and are special. Doesn't explain why The Great Mouse Detective didn't get a BD though; I guess there was nothing special or event worthy about it at all. Maybe they could release it on Vincent Price's birthday or something.

well, they treat their classic movies like events, but only those they feel are worthy.

Why wouldn't they put new material on blu? Anything new from any studio is being released on blu as well as DVD. The Great Mouse Detective and The Black Cauldron don't really constitute as something "new". I wish they would have been released on blu as well, but I would assume that given their past sales records it'd be a waste for Disney to release them on blu until it is a cheaper form of entertainment. Heck, the DVD's didn't even start off with a standard new release price. They were both released at around $13.

According to the Spanish website zonadvd.com, the movie is slated for an October 2012 release.

The fact it calls every Disney re-release a "Platinum Edition", is not necessarily a sign of having false information. I know a lot of reliable European sites that still call these re-releases 'Platinum' editions.

I agree with this, as I've also seen reliable websites refer to current releases as "Platinum Editions."

Seriously, 5-6 DAC's a year is not going to cut it. It will be 10 years before we get them all on Blu-ray, and by then Blu-ray will most likely be taken over by something else.
