Well, Tangled only just got trailers and it comes out in 3 months (or less).Margos wrote:Animation's about to wrap? When is this being released!? We haven't even seen a trailer yet, for Pete's sakes! When are we going to hear something, anything from this film!?

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
It's not too unusual. Not only are they using already designed characters, the Winnie the Pooh films have never had the need for expensive effects. Not to mention they now have at their disposal the necessary materials and animators they hired before The Princess and the Frog (which lead its quite large budget).Coolmanio wrote:I can't believe the budget is only $35 million. It seems so little by todays standards. That is their cheapest DAC since Aladdin.

true, there was never much of a reason why it should cost more than $40 million. It would be amazing if they could make original movies with a price tag of $65 million or so. It would put the studio in a better position.estefan wrote:It's not too unusual. Wait? Where did this character come from? Wikipedia? Because I've never heard of this before and honestly, it doesn't make sense that an alligator would live in an English forest...Neal wrote:No. So if it's a lame character, I will be pretty disappointed.

Yes, Wikipedia.UmbrellaFish wrote: Wait? Where did this character come from? Wikipedia? Because I've never heard of this before and honestly, it doesn't make sense that an alligator would live in an English forest...
And really, the Hundred Acre Wood isn't specifically an English forest. It's a parallel world inside of a storybook inhabited by a boy's plush animals and only 3 real animals (a rabbit, an owl, and a gopher).
A tiger and a kangaroo don't belong in an English forest, either. Why couldn't Christopher Robin get a plush alligator?
But even so, I don't think this is true.....

Didn't even think about the tiger and kangaroo. That's certainly true.Margos wrote:Yes, Wikipedia.UmbrellaFish wrote: Wait? Where did this character come from? Wikipedia? Because I've never heard of this before and honestly, it doesn't make sense that an alligator would live in an English forest...

But yeah, if it's from Wikipedia, it's not happening.

I was in the Disney Animation building yesterday and they had a small section with some images from the new Pooh movie
I was lucky enough to be able to pull aside one of the animators for a few minutes and talk to him about a few things. He said they tried really really hard to match the rough hand drawn style of the original 3 Pooh films featured in the Many Adventures. From the bit I saw, it definitely looks like they matched it perfectly!
Also, I saw a bit of Tangled before I left since they were doing a 3D screening of a near-complete version. SO FREAKING GOOD.

Well, if it was just a Wiki lie - it certainly caught on as several sites now use it in a biography for Gottfried.
Gottfried is well known as the voice of Iago, the parrot in the animated classic Aladdin. He was also a co-starred in the ‘Problem Child’ movies. Gilbert Gottfried is much famous for voicing Digit in the animated children’s series ‘Cyberchase’ and the alligator Marley in ‘Winnie the Pooh’.
I e-mailed Mr. Gottfried and asked, who knows if he actually answers his own e-mail or just some hired person, if he answers his own, it could explain the short reply: "Not true."
So that clears that up. Somebody must have used Wikipedia to write a bio for Gottfried for an upcoming performance and it caught on, because the same bio is now at multiple websites reporting he is playing Marley the Alligator.
Glad it was just a rumor.
