Here we go... :shifty:
WDWLocal wrote:I just gave Kevin Cedano's review of "Great Fairy Rescue" a bird's eye glance and, IMO, he's pretty negative towards the films and franchise and doesn't give it enough credit.
Well, why don't you give the review a more in-depth read? Your argument falls apart a bit when you say that you gave it just a bird's eye glance. Kelvin may make criticisms, but he's been pretty positive, and praises it as being an improvement over the last two films.
WDWLocal wrote:Despite what he says, the Fairies franchise IS a a major success and has been making tons of money for the company.
Kelvin doesn't necessarily deny that in the review. He notes that the Fairies franchise has been doing reasonably well, but most of the success simply gravitates around Tink herself (and not so much the other fairies), which prevented them from going ahead with the planned Pixie Hollow area as part of the New Fantasyland at WDW (that and they realised that the expansion, with princesses and fairies in abundance, may be too girl-centric).
WDWLocal wrote:Another case of a product getting reviewed by the wrong person.
Well, I'm sorry, but I don't think that any of the reviewers are complete apologists.
WDWLocal wrote:Not only that. The fact that Kevin Cedano (who also should've never been allowed to review any of the High School Musical films or DVD's, among others) even interviewed the directors for the Tink films should've been incentive enough to give the new film a much more positive review.
First of all, that was rude to Kelvin. :headshake: Just because he has certain tastes, it doesn't mean that he doesn't have the right to review certain movies. If you want undying praise for certain films, why don't you set up your own Disney review site where you can write hyper-positive reviews of films you don't feel got good enough reviews here?

Secondly, though Kelvin spoke to the directors, it's not as though they're long-time friends, and any negative criticism of their product wouldn't be particularly personal. And of course, Kelvin has to be as unbiased as possible, as any journalist and critic must; trying to rid the review of any criticism as a gesture of undying kindness to some people he spoke to for around five minutes (probably not face-to-face at that) would just be bad journalism.
WDWLocal wrote:I think he seems just as hateful and critical of the Fairies franchise as Renata "Fairy-Hater/Princess-Hater" Joy (who reviewed the first Tink film) and the person that reviewed "Lost Treasure".
As Luke said, they aren't being particularly negative, just addressing the concerns that a number of Disney fans may have (and the general consensus with the Tink films is that they're getting better with each new entry, which goes to show that they're trying to make things better, and that any potential criticism is being viewed as constructive). The Disney Fairies line, which served as the inspiration for the Tinker Bell films, is essentially a merchandising line reworking the world of a classic Disney character, who herself was actually based on an earlier character in a novel/play by J.M. Barrie. All this is bound to ruffle some feathers amongst Disney fans, as well as a whole lot of Barrie enthusiasts (many of whom are Disney fans), and one can't write an insightful, professional review on any of the Tinker Bell films without addressing any of these facts.

Where is the best place to buy Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue? The only local store I have that sells DVDs is Walmart but they never have good deals. Any good deals on Target or TRU?

If you can prince match at wal-mart Target seems to have the best deal for $22.99...I plan on price matching it with the ad at wal-mart and then using the $10 coupon and the Blu ray combo will only be $12.99..I think it's such a good deal Tinker Bell Herself would endorse it. :tink:

So annoyed that I have nowhere to print out the coupon, so I have to pay 22.99 as opposed to 12.99, IF I decided I can spare 22.99. Ha, I know I can't, still looking for work and on my last 100, but I LOVE Tink...

I'm not sure if all Wal-Marts have the same price but I called my local store this morning and it was 24.96.

Tinker Bell & the Mysterious Winter Woods - Fall 2012

Post by tlc38tlc38 »

Shouldn't this be coming out fall 2011 instead of 2012? According to the booklet in the new Tinker Bell movie, it says fall 2012.

Also, did anyone else have trouble removing the charm bracelet sticker on the TB&TGFR slipcover? It left a horrible residue for me.

AND, I HATE the way the sneak peaks are done now. It's just stupid.

I find it funny that we have had the same thread for the first 3 movies and for the 4th one we get a new one! I thought we could make it with all 5 movies in one thread.

Could you take some pictures from the booklet? Is there an image of the new movie? Is it possible to rip and post the sneak peak footage of the Mysterious Winter Woods?

What's strange is there is a competition themed movie "Race through the Seasons" that was supposed to come out in 2012 to coincide with the Olympics. Oddly, it was swapped with the Winter movie and is coming out in 2011.

At least that's what I understand.

If this booklet makes no mention of 'Race' than perhaps it was canceled and Winter will be the last movie but not done by next fall.

Or the first 'Planes' will come out in 2011 so they decided not to pit it against the next Tink film?

Thanks for the picture. :) I think there will be another one after the Mysterious Winter Woods tentatively called Race Through the Seasons.

EDIT:

Could you provide us with any sources verifying what you're saying? Where did you hear this? If anyone who knows more can clarify this, it would be much appreciated.

I don't know how to/don't have the equipment to do that. I'm sure it won't be long before it hits YouTube.

Oh my gosh! I love this poster! The winter outfits are absolutely adorable, and I love how Vidia is officially in the gang, now! :D
By the way, I guess this is the first time we're seeing an alternate outfit for Vidia, unlike the other 5 girls who have had an outfit update every seaon.... Love it!

Just thought I'd let you all know....
That "Tinker" we were discussing earlier has been verified on the Never News Blog for the Pixie Hollow MMO to be Tabby, the fairy that I mentioned she looked like. Just thought I'd point that out. Tabby is a Story-Telling Talent (like Lyria), but she specializes in journalism. She's the one who has the inside scoop on all things happening in the Hollow. So that's who that is: Not a new character, and not a tinker, either.
This makes sense with my theory, that Tink is the only tinker allowed to come to fairy camp (except Bobble and Clank, who are there are her assitants). That's much more consitent with the first film, and the fact that Vidia seems to imply that there is a reason that tinkers had never been allowed to come before.

The last paragraph, by the way, is not an attack against any of the mods or reviewers, but a spoof of certain apologists' posts. And the first paragraph was also not very serious at that. ;)
