And that's the start
He follows his dream

And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true

Anywho..... I know its his opinion, but he does not make a coherent statment at all during that. Its like he thought that Disney's Vault system is a new thing.

Guys, the video you posted is by none other than UD's own musicradio77. I believe he has high-functioning autism, explaining why his speech is quite...rambling. It's common in his UD posts as well.Coolmanio wrote:Missing a life?Wonderlicious wrote: He rants for nearly 15 minutes. No offence, but how/where does he get the time?

Got it early
Hello everyone! I guess only a few old timers would probably remember me, since I rarely post around here anymore. Anyway, I'm a huge Disney fan from Hong Kong and I've got something to share with you guys... Just a few hours ago my girlfriend called me and said she saw the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition Blu-ray in a store. I knew that particular store never sells bootlegs, so I quickly asked her to buy it for me. An hour later I got my hands on it - a genuine US import. My girlfriend had asked the store why they could get it so early, but they simply answered that they "had their ways".
It cost HK$275 (US$35.4), a lot pricier than Amazon, but then I don't need to wait so long! After spending some time viewing the discs, here are some of my thoughts:
- The picture quality is absolutely phenomenal, as expected. The colors and texture are pretty much perfect, and you really get a sense of depth as the layers are so clearly defined. I know this description is probably redundant considering Disney's excellent track record, but still.
- Concerning the COLORS... well, overall I think the Diamond's colors look great and much more natural than the Platinum's, but they're still not the "original theatrical" colors. You can still see Beast's face clearly before he steps into the light. Meanwhile, the "Beauty and the Beast" (ballroom) sequence will probably remain controversial, albeit to a lesser degree than before. During the first moments of the sequence, the colors are actually rather close to the theatrical colors, i.e. darker (kinda like this shot tcclives23 posted a while ago - http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee19 ... 23/bb4.jpg). But after that shot where Beast smiles at Belle, the colors are obviously brighter. There's a slight orange-reddish hue in the ballroom, but don't panic cos it still manages to look natural, unlike the overblown tones of the Platinum. It's completely different than the colors in the 3D re-release trailer though. Also, Belle's hair looks consistently brown, even in the ballroom, and not near red like before. Anyway, these are just my personal observations; some people might disagree, I dunno.
- The trailer for Bambi: Diamond Edition is included. PQ is reasonably good but there's still room for improvement; hopefully the final product looks better.
- I haven't went through the entire "Beyond Beauty" documentary yet, but so far it seems a solid bonus feature, very informative (only quibbles are that there are no subtitles and you can't rewind while playing). During the doc, pop-ups sometimes appear, asking if you want to view supplementary content. If you press enter, a countdown appears and afterwards it seamlessly transitions to to the extra content. The transition can be weird though; for example Glen Keane suddenly looks into the camera, says hello and introduces the artwork gallery feature.
- In the "Beyond Beauty" documentary there are clips of "The Black Cauldron", "The Great Mouse Detective", "Oliver & Company", "The Little Mermaid", "The Rescuers Down Under", "Aladdin" and "The Lion King", among others. "Cauldron" looks rather good; I believe it's from the new HD master for the recent DVD. "Detective" looked underwhelming, but was at least better than the clips of "Oliver" (in 4:3, looks like interlaced DVD picture) and "Rescuers Down Under" (also in 4:3, VHS-quality). "Mermaid" seemed to be from the 2006 PE DVD master, and "Lion King" naturally looked top notch. However, while "Aladdin" looked very good, it was strangely in 4:3.
Sorry but I don't have a computer with a Blu-ray drive so I can't provide any direct screencaps. I do have some photos of the set itself:

Btw, as you can see in the last pic, the ad for Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 strangely states the release date as October 26 when it was previously announced as November 30...

Are the chairs they're sitting in at the dining room table brown or red?

WOW! Thanks so much, DisneyChris! (And yes, I do remember you. You were my only ally during my criticism of some "Coustom" DVD Covers by a fellow UD member)
I'll leave the colors discussion to those that care to argue about them.
The Blu-Ray guide is unintentionally confusing since it combines the material of Disc 1 and 2 into one navigational tree (I can't believe they'd do that and only put a blurb in the bottom corner in fine print
). So I have a few questions I hope you won't mind answering:
1. Are the new deleted scenes (Purdum Reel, Belle in Library) on both Disc 1 and Disc 2? Or just on Disc 2?
2. Does the DVD presentation of the 3 versions do it via seamless branching?
3. Is that really all there is for Classic DVD Features? It's only about half of what was assumed to be offered (based on the introductions being re-passed by BBFC), If it will only include what's listed, then we lose the "Animation Tests, Roughs, & Clean Ups", "The Transformation: Pencil Version", "A Transformation: Glen Keane", "Camera Move Test: The Ballroom", and trailers/tv spots.
4. Are the song demos included anywhere? And if so, which ones?
Looks like I'm going to have to update my list from a couple pages ago, once DisneyChris replies.

Would you be able to take some screencaps using the DVD?DisneyChris wrote: Sorry but I don't have a computer with a Blu-ray drive so I can't provide any direct screencaps.

This looks amazing and are there any trailers for The Lion King or Alice in Wonderland blu-rays?DisneyChris wrote:Hello everyone! To help clarify what I'm asking, I'm going to post some comparisons. We'll call the top image "A" and the bottom image "B". Image "A" is the Original Theatrical Colors, as seen in the IMAX trailer (was also seen in HD on The Princess and the Frog trailer). Image "B" is the new darkened clips, which I believe to be the Diamond Edition colors, from IMDB.
Here's the chairs I've been going on about:

and here's a shot from the ballroom to compare Belle's hair:

Just say whether the Diamond Edition release looks more like image "A" or image B". If it looks like "B", I'll be waiting another decade or whatever to get the proper colors (I know they have them, as they were just in The Princess and the Frog trailer). I'll still rent this release for free from my library, as I'm on the top spot for the Blu-ray.
