According to Jon Stewart the Media is like Dog from Up
I was gonna post about this! So, what, the Daily Show asked Pixar for the clip, or Pixar's trying to self-promote themselves, or Pixar thinks they're so hot they can be in the Daily Show? Did Daily Show even pay for it at all since they do use clips from things without paying it seems...I hope they didn't pay at all!

I doubt Pixar would be trying to self-promote a movie released a year ago via a less-than-30-second clip on "The Daily Show".
And unless it's in the public domain, I'm sure any piece of media with a copyright needs to be paid for when used, no matter how much or how little is used.

Pixar had nothing to do with this, they didn't even know about it. Scott Clark (pixar animator) even tweeted that he was just informed about it, and wanted to know where he could find a clip.
On a random note: Jimmy Fallon was talking to Christina Ricci last night about Toy Story 3. and this wasn't the first time either. He was supposed to be promoting Chistina's movie Alpha and Omega but somehow the conversation went into how TS3 was the best movie of the year.

Not true. You can use 30 seconds or less of a song, and...I believe 3 minutes or less of a movie without having to pay for it.Escapay wrote:I doubt Pixar would be trying to self-promote a movie released a year ago via a less-than-30-second clip on "The Daily Show".

I've just seen the episode and I must say: as usual, Jon is *SO* totally right! "Squirrel!" That is so typical of today's media.
Tuesday, he did another Disney reference, this time mocking Camp Rock 2: "I couldn't get my kids interested in it either."
But to come back to the media: I think it's so wonderful that a show that parodies the ineffectiveness of today's corporate media is really the only show where you see critical, investigative and independent journalism --on a comedy show! Jon had Tony Blair on, on Tuesday. Had Blair gone to any other American tv show, I'm sure he would only have to answer predictable softball questions and he could have easily wiggled out of them with his clichéd answers. But Jon Stewart really took him on. Especially in the segment that's only put on the internet.

It's sad in a way to come to this conclusion, but a comedian is doing the work the real journalists should be doing, but they're too busy covering Lindsay Lohan's latest scandal. I can't believe people still call Jon 'only a comedian'. When you watch the entire interview with Blair, you almost feel sorry for Blair for being grilled like that. It really shows what an intelligent guy Stewart is. My hat is off to Jon.
